Check in for Equator Club - 2 rooms but not connected. Both rooms with nice view. The air cond system is not functioning properly despite complain. Luckily the room has balconies, so we need to open up the door (sliding)
Breakfast has plenty of choice, but for Equator Club, the breakfast is at 21st floor with fewer choice. You pay more but you get less choice for food. The location is our main criteria of choosing this hotel. I give 5 stars for this but overall i give 3 stars.

Hotel is near shopping malls & 10 - 15mins walking distance to Jonker street/walk..Checked-in was fast & comes with free WiFi... But there's limit to it.. We stayed in Premium Room which was big, clean & most important quiet.. Hotel staffs are nice & friendly too.. Loved there morning breakfast, as there's many choices especially their homemade hash browns, it's so yummy...
Will be back to stay if we're in Melaka..

The Equatorial has been up to its standards.. Its no surprise that this hotel is also a good one..

We checked in at premiere room.. With queen size bed and a day bed: overlooking dataran pahlawan.. Very nice indeed, especially at night..

The check in process was very efficient, staff are friendly and ample parking spaces..

The best thing about the hotel (apart from above mentioned) is the swimming pool.. Big and has several layers which can separate my family than the rest.. And the pool landscape is awesome.. Took many pictures of the pool, looks nice..

The location is perfect.. Just a door away from Dataran Pahlawan mall.. And other attractions and amenities.

Highly recommended...

The price is a little bit pricey, eventhough we went there not on a peak season. But it compensates by the quality of the hotel.

Very conveniently located hotel with a shopping mall just around the corner and many shops and restaurants within walking distance. A Seven Eleven is located just in front of the hotel. Also very close to the major tourist attractions, all within walking distance including the very toursity old quarter.
This hotel seems to amongst the first modern hotels and is showing its age. The fittings are old. The towel rack in my room (1707) was loose. It will have to improve fast since a lot of new hotels are coming up nearby which would erode its advantage of location. The 4 Star Hatten located in the same area is newer and better according to some who stayed there and enjoys the same advantage of location.
Food was very average including the breakfast. I was looking forward to some Nonya cuisine but the Nonya restaurant (Siri Nonya) in the hotel was a disappointment since most of the dishes served to us were very Chinese. The band was quite good though. It is better to eat out since there are many local restaurants close by where the food is authentic. A restaurant even had deer meat on offer and serves lunches and dinners from 3 pm to midnight.
On the positive side the staff were courteous and efficient.

Room tip: I think the rooms at the back are better since it is facing the sea and overlooks the old quarter.

Check in was quick and easy. There was free orange (cordial) available in the foyer which was nice after coming in from the heat.
We loved Melaka but the hotel was a welcome relief at the end of each day. It was clean, the rooms were spacious and comfortable - nice beds and a big bathroom with toiletries, plenty of friendly staff and a great bar and restaurants. The air conditioning worked well. The pool was very big with plenty of shade. In fact everything seemed very spacious. We were worried when LOTS of people turned up on the second day and we were told there was a major tourism conference being held there. But even with this major event, the hotel coped easily. While we were there the hotel had visits by the Royal Family and the Prime Minister but none of the activities impacted on guests.
It is within easy walking distance to all the attractions, including Jonker Street.
The hotel runs a cooking class which we did. It was very professional and excellent value for money. We had free wifi which was easy to hook up and was plenty quick enough for emails, etc.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Equatorial and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else on our next trip to Melaka.
