I had 3 nights at the Hotel Equartorial. I liked the location, 10 minute walk to the centre of town and near some lovely local resturants. The hotel is lovely, expansive entrance, friendly service and nice rooms.

The highlight for me was the Cooking course. I was very fortunate to be able to do the course and cannot thank management enough for making it available to me at short notice. Make sure you book ahead to ensure you can do the course.

You enter a room with tables set up for the chef and for the student(s). You are given your hat, apron and gloves. You watch and then cook two dishes. These dishes are then preented to you at lunch or dinner along with a number of other dishes. You are given a feast.

The chef and her helpers coudl not be more helpful, as soon as you finish with an ingredient the dish it was in is taken away. You have plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

I also purchased the cookbook (plus a few extra copies for gifts) published by the hotel which includes the dishes I cooked.

This was the highlight of my trip to Melaka.

a really good location for a really good hotel, but seriously, $25, for internet services in your rooms?? the rival hotel, the renaissance ramada was complimentary internet services in your rooms?? what gives?? anyways, all in all, a very good location in town center, as the shopping areas are around the corner. my room was excellent, no complaints there.

Room Tip: it is a 20 mins walk to jonker's street, well worth the walk as you will pass st.paul hill, the...

I have never been to Melaka, I presume this is one of hte common hotels that most Tourist will go/tour agents will recommend. It is near the shopping centres and cost RM15 to take the taxi to the night market.

The hotel room was clean, bathroom was an average size. There was no curtains but just some foldable doors, facing the hotel room was the school.

We are also near the premium outlets. Most shopping centres were within walking distance, the weather in Meleka was hot. This hotel seems to cater alot for church groups when I was there for 5 days, there were at least 3 - 4 church groups.

The staff don't seem to know what shopping areas are available there when carrefour was closed some years back, one of the staff could tell us that it was across the street.

very suitable for family stay shopping, sight seeing and rest & relax and family bonding time.

A good variety of breakfast spread.

Had a wonderful stay of 2D1N in the World Club Room on Sept 5th. The check in & check out were  hassle- free at the club lounge on the 21st floor. Requested for late checkout till 2 pm and was gladly  granted. Enjoyed the pre- dinner cocktails at the club lounge. Juices, coffee and tea was served with a variety of finger food and pastries. Love the quiet and cozy environment. The hotel room was spacious and bed was super comfy. My toddler had enjoyed herself very much at the outdoor kids pool. The Nonya restaurant on the 3rd floor serves delicious dishes. Always visit this restaurant when I visit Malacca. Enjoyed the large spread for breakfast buffet. :)

Booked this hotel as a coach - hotel package from Singapore for 2 adults and children 10 & 6 yo. (Luxury Travels)

The coach drops and picks up from this hotel - right at the drop-off point.
Check-in was swift and un-eventful despite the bus-load of people who arrived with us.

Rooms were neat, clean and well appointed.

The best part of the deal was the bay window with a day bed, which our kids liked and made their bed - complete with blinds on the 3 outer sides and a curtain to separate the bed from the room! So we did not even take the ëxtra bed that we booked for kids..

They enjoyed this from the 17th floor, complete with panoramic view of the city

Buffet breakfast for 4 was on board - excellent spread.
Kids enjoyed the same and the pool too

The attractions are hardly 650m away - starting from St Pauls Hill.

Also, if one walks 100 m, you can enter the Dream box mall, which is then connected to the Hatten Hotel mall via aircon linkbridge, which then takes you to the Makhota Mall via another overbridge which has Parksons etc.

wifi is charged at about RM 25, but nowadays we can buy a DiGi etc 3G SIM from RM 16, which also includes IDD & local calls - so why worry.

The air-conditioning was excellent with simple control - a rare experience in a hotel where I could set a particular temperature on the thermostat and get it too..

So, were the light controls. Only one issue I noted was that when we put off a light (say desk or bedside, the power socket near it also gets off) Only the electric kettle socket appeared to be standalone.

Check-out was swift as well - Only the well proclaimed RM 2 per night was charged as extra.

The hotel topped up the overall good experience that we had at Melaka, Malaysia.

Hotel lobby and room looks pretty nice but staff are not so friendly.
I drove and stayed in Malacca (10 - 12 Aug 2012).
Drove out on Saturday afternoon and came back late (around 9pm) to only find out that the hotel carpark is FULL !!!
Showed the complimentary ticket to the guard but was simply told that there is no more lot (due to some wedding or events).
In the end have to park elsewhere and have to pay for it.
Terrible planning of the hotel !
Plus point is that it is beside a mall.
Its a 20 minutes walk to Jonker area.
Does not recommend and will never stay there again.
Regards.

Newly refurbish room. Clean and cosy. Just nice for 2A and 2C.
Buffet breakfast rated good as well.
Chicken porridge was good.
Hotel strategically located near many historical sites within walking distance. There are also trishaw ride in front of hotels to bring you around town. Across the road are Jonkers Street which have variety of local food and there are singing and opera session by the local community folks.

Room Tip: The premier has an additional bench chair near the window which is good enough for a child to have a...
