“Great stay, great choice.”
Reviewed November 10, 2007

Having read the generally good reviews on Tripadvisor.com about Hotel Equatorial it didn't come as a surprise that our actual experience at the hotel was nothing short of excellent. Amidst all the short buidlings and somewhat dreary environment, the exterior of our hotel stood out nicely and prominently and the interior had a lot to boast about. The lobby was huge and the staff was professional and very helpful. The concierge was also very helpful in introducing the places of interest although he did give some rather ill advised recommendations on taking the bus Paranoma Melaka. Rooms are relatively small but very clean, with a very comfortable bathroom. The view from our rooms was great, extending all the way to the sea. Location of our hotel was superb, which perhaps explains why Paranoma Melaka was such a waste of time, since everything was around the corner from where we lived.

Enjoyed our stay in Melaka at the Equatorial, a nice hotel in a good location. We had booked on a B&B basis, which was ok, although the choice is not massive. Also the boiled eggs came un-cooked two days in a row.

Our room was slightly noisy and we were facing the construction side, but it was not unbearable.

Pool is very nice and quiet, and has a beautiful view of the sunset if you go in the evening,

Hotel is walking distance to a lot of locations and there is a great food court near Mahkota Parade.

We both had a full body massage at the fitness centre which was closed for refurbishment. The masseuse was very strong!! Certainly not the same sort of aromatherapy type massage you get here!

Hotel is well worth it and other than the Renaissance and Holiday Inn, I think probably one of the better hotels in Melaka.

I stayed 2 nights in a club room at the Equatorial recently. I was not expecting much, given my past experience with other Melaka hotels, but the Equatorial exceeded my expectations. The club room and bathroom were huge and well maintained. Breakfast at the coffee house was good, and the decor was nice. The flo bar was fantastic, with great decor and a decent live band. This is definitely the best of the Melaka hotels.

The Equatorial is well located a short walk from the historic town centre of Melaka.

The hotel itself was of a reasonably good standard, the room was a little tired, but clean and comfortable.

The restaurant was excellent - the local cuisine is certainly worth a try.

Would happily stay here again.

stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Location is very convinent. next to dataran Pahlawan and Mahkota Parade Shopping centers and most of all 2 min walks to places of interest. The staff are professional and helpful. The room are average and so thus the furnitures. The noise comes from the construction works next to the hotel and from the traffic in the night.

The louvered sliding doors works well shielding lights but not noise.Drape of heavy curtain should shield the noise away.

Breakfast are fantastic as there are plenty and of much Varieties. All and all I will grade this hotel as a **** star hotel.

Our group of 5 stayed at the Hotel Equatorial MELAKA from the 9 - 11 August 2007 in the Superior Room. Reservation through the hotel website was a breeze.

Rooms are clean. Nothing in the room was damaged.

We were given a RM88 F&B Voucher per room per night as there was a promo going on. We utilised it at the coffee house for breakfast (which was average - rice, curry, noodles), room service (not so bad) and a buffet lunch at the coffee house (average).

Location wise, Equatorial Melaka is next to the new Dataran Pahlawan Megamall and across the road from Dataran Pahlawan is Mahkota Parade Shopping Centre. On the right of Mahkota Parade (from Dataran Pahlawan) is Plaza Mahkota (shop houses) and thats where you can find the famous Nyonya Suan serving delicious Nyonya Food.

I give the hotel a 4/5 for cleaniness & maintainence,
a 3/5 for food (coffee house and room service) and
a 5/5 for location.

  • Liked — Excellent Location. Nearby two shopping malls.
  • Disliked — Nothing much. They just have to improve their food quality. Its just average.

It's a pretty neat hotel with nice polite staff. Decent breakfast and service standards is there no less. Good location, close proximity to Dataran Palawan Shopping Complex and Mahkota Shopping Centre, and soon Carrefour. Construction's on now, so request for rooms away from the construction. That's what I did, and also request for rooms near the Equator club. Units are quieter.
