Hatten Hotel Melaka

Wanted a change from the normal stay in the Holiday Inn just across the street and found this new hotel. The Hatten Hotel.
Called the hotel to book a room for 2 nights and was told that there were only Premier rooms available, thus the increased in price. The premier price that I paid was to include extra perks such as the use of the Premier Lounge from 5 to 7 in the evening.(nothing else)
The hotel lobby was really pretty with a very unique and beautiful ceiling hung lead crystal chandelier. The hotel has more than 700 rooms and they were fully booked during my stay and it is served with 2 lifts for the car park and 5 lifts + 1 (one broken down) for the thousands of guests. Met an old couple (tourist) in the lift and the comment was, "1/2 day gone for waiting for the lift" and "another 1/2 day in the lift".
It's so slow and it was like a busy market and not conducive as a business hotel.
Was eager for the premier lounge and made my way there at 5.30pm, expecting some nice sangiovarse or at least Beaujolais and plenty of hot savories for a nice relaxing evening, only to find that they only serve coffee or tea with some cookies in a jar. A very big disappointment for they were really making such good sales (full occupancy) , yet they stooge on the perks. walked out of the so called Premier Lounge and never to set foot there again. The hotel has only one restaurant to cater for the thousands of tourists who stayed there.
In the morning, we have to line up from the cashier of the restaurant to the lifts for a table only to find that the food sucks. I found remnants of fried chicken in the buffet tray (all gone before you can count to 3), the nasi lemak (local delicacies) does not have sambal to go with it and the food was of low quality and it was not replenished in time. (poor management of food)
Overall, in my opinion, this is not a business hotel but a tourist hotel and you find some really wierd people rushing and grabbing for food (just because of scarcity) , thus making the joint such a pariah place.
One have to park 3 to 9 floor up and find a lift to take you to the lobby and another lift to take you to your floor. The old couple did not drive, for if they did, it will take them 2 days to reached their room from the carpark.
Overall, the experience I had was not good for the price that I paid.
Will not patronize this hotel again.

Room Tip: Room 1938 has a very good view of the sea except for the hospital between the sea and the hotel.

I was there during the singapore september school holidays. So as expected, the hotel is VERY crowded. having to wait very long for the lifts, and also stopping at many floors. (Expect 5-6 min waiting for lift at least.) it could really get quite annoying.
Wanted to go swimming but the pool is always overcrowded with kids.
Breakfast buffet was quite good. but for the 2 days in a row, the buffet spread is the same.

This is a non smoking hotel, not really good news for smokers. but its ok, u can smoke outside the hotel.
Room is very nice, modern and clean too. We got a king bed. with partial sea views..
hotel is well located, easy to get around malacca

I stayed in this new hotel for a night in Premier room. The hotel is in modern style with large room space incl living room, bathroom, bedroom. The view is good as Premier is on very high floor.Though there is no bath tub which is slightly strange for this luxury hotel. One major drawback is the elevator. Since there are hundreds of rooms, big bunch of crowd always stuck in front of the lift even though there are 8 lifts in service. The should arrange low floor zone and high floor zone to mitigate the problem. Every time I come down, the lift stops every single floor which is annoying indeed.

The Hatten Hotel is a large hotel with over 600 rooms. The Hotel describes itself as “a 22 tower high Business Class Hotel” on its website. However we booked this hotel thinking it was a Tourist Hotel in a touristy town. It is conveniently located right in the heart of the city and also close to shopping and major businesses maybe that is why they call themselves a Business Hotel. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well furnished .Our room featured two LCD televisions, broadband internet access and a rather small separate living area, separated by a glass partition with a pull down curtain to make it look like a real separate living room.Clever design but could have been bit bigger.
The staff was efficient but lacked the personal, warm, friendly touch perhaps due to being a business hotel with a very high volume of transient business guests.
Great breakfast with plenty of variety and the service was efficient but once again lacked the‘warm hospitality’ that we expected and received everywhere in beautiful and friendly Malaysia. However,we understand feeding nearly over 1000 guests is no easy task!
Lastly I would like to a make a comment on the highly polished, large, magnificent and grand table with the flower display in the lobby. This is, no doubt a beautiful piece of furniture but it should be in a museum or in a furniture display exhibition if guests are not to touch it or even leave their keys or Ipad on it, even for few seconds!! Staff are well trained here to pounce on you - if you use this table, so beware!!

Room Tip: If you are a tourist in Melaka look around for a 'Tourist Hotel'.

Hi,

A few point to note about this hotel:

1) Location of the hotel, excellent, walking distance to all the malls, Jonker street, A' farmosa, St. Pauls Church etc.
2) Check in was slow and many people in queue, perhaps management should review the process of check in and make it faster.
3) Check out was fast that is perhaps because of not many people leaving the hotel at that point of time I guess.
4) The room was very good, clean, comfortable bed and pillow, very spacious.
5) Bathroom was really good too and clean.
6) In room LAN connection was extremely good but wifi connection was slow and connecting was not smooth.
7) Breakfast, ample spread of breakfast but in typical buffet style nothing was actually tasting good unlike an ala cart meal. Definitely the choices among the best I have seen. Good if you want to get filled up.
8) If you are driving down, car park is complementary.
9) The hotel is always seems to be crowded and packed, look around for good bargains on-line before booking it.
10) TV channels are so so only, mostly from Vision Four channels. Though they had two LCD in the room, not a bad idea.
11) The entire hotel is Non-smoking rooms and surrounding too.

Overall a good hotel if you are planning to roam the city and tourist sights.

Thanks

The room is good concept whete you have like a living room space with sofa and TV. Main room with another TV. Toilet has 2 doors for access from either of bedroom and living room.
You can walk to Dataran Pahlawan and Mahkota parade via dedicated flyover for pedestrians. There are shopping mall also below the hotel.
Parking is cumbersome due to lift where need to go down to Lobby and changed the lifts that serve the floors. Breakfast as other pointed out need to que, but as my 2nd day, went at 7:30 in the morning, que is a bit less. Foods buffet remain the same menu.
Overall is a good hotel for short break.

Stayed for 1 night with my friends, hotel was clean and comfortable to sleep. Close to most attractions. Room is spacious too. Definitely will stay in Hatten again! Check-in was fast and efficient, staff was kind to show the nearby attractions to go. Lift stops at almost every level when checking out, this shows the high volume of guest!
