“Lovely shop front Nyonya cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

Initially called for a late lunch. Tasty Nyonya laska with friendly staff and a relaxed feel. Returned for another meal a few days later, and once again a tasty and satisfying meal. Chicken curry with 4 angle bean side. Yum oh. Would not hesitate to recommend.

“Authentic Nyonya food in an old Peranakan style shophouse”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

Most tables were taken by the time we arrived at 11.45am. As waiting time was expected to be long, we selected a few pieces of nyonya kueh as entree. Their staff were friendly but too busy, we had to ask several times for forks and plates so that we could start eating the kueh. The kueh was very authentic. a pleasant surprise was the apam with durian filling.
The food arrived about 30 minutes later. The lady boss had recommended pineapple lemak with fish and it was fantastic. The chicken buah kluak and cincaluk omelette were also good. But we were disappointed with the chap chye, not worth the price as it was almost like a bowl of plain overcooked cabbage. To end the meal, we ordered durian cendol and it was very good, you could detect clumps of durian pulp.

“Durian ais kacang, the best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

A local haunt - with Peranakan furniture around gives Kocik an authentic flair.

The food was delicious, the variety kept the taste buds challenged, and yes, during the right season, durian ais kacang topped off our lunch very well.

Looking at my photos, I know the food must have been good since all our plates were clean - with more than 6 dishes on our table!

“Just average Laksa”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

I tried the Nyonya Laksa hoping that it would taste better than the one at Jonker 88. It turned out that i was just so-so, lacking in the fragrance and unique taste I had expected from a traditional nyonya laksa.

“Great cendol!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

We went for set A and added some chili chicken. The food was very tasty, with subtle flavors. Each dish was quite different from the others, which kept it interesting. Nothing was too spicy either, just enough.

The star was the cendol, especially the syrup: I had to have two!
