The place is centrally located, it has decent but basic rooms and a free breakfast that caters for Asian and Western tastes. It is good money for value, and perfect for budget travellers or families that don't want to expend too much money while in Malacca. It is an unpretentious cheap hotel that really offers a comfortable room and bed, and has a decent set of toiletries. The place has many local eateries (an Indian and a Chinese) at two seconds, and many shops around, and is 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre, and has the wonderful riverside at 3 minutes. Most of the staff were really lovely and helpful, always ready to help, especially Theresa in the morning and the young guys in the afternoon.

Going to the not so good things, the toilet is tiny, even for a small person The shower is not separated from the rest, so once you take a shower the whole toilet and bathroom area is wet. I missed some tissues in the room and notepad and pen, which shouldn't be that difficult to include in the rooms.

There was a pungent smell in my room, that persisted despite the opening of the window. I am not sure if coming from the carpet or from the plastic blind curtains.

The fridge seems to get off once you leave the room and remove the card from its slot, so drinks are warm if you pass a few hours or the whole day out, and you cannot keep anything in.

There was a problem in my second night at the hotel, that affected all guests. There was a group of teens travelling with a bus that spend from 11pm to 3-4am shouting, slamming doors, running up and down the stairs, put the music loud, collapsed the lift. Teenagers are like that everywhere in the world. However, I expect the hotel to have and implement policies that make sure that these things don't happen, or if happening to put a stop to them. Nobody from the hotel put a stop to them. I think that is unacceptable.

I was impressed by the service received from the counter staff. Genuine, helpful, effective and polite.

Walking distance to most places of interest without being in Jonker itself where human and traffic congestion bother me.

The room is big enough and for the price, of excellent value. We got a good night's sleep and did not notice any noise. There were big windows with a street view. Breakfast was mediocre but we were not in Malacca for hotel food so that did not bother us. The alfresco seating was very pleasant.

There is a coffee shop popular with locals across the street serving local dishes like Wanton mee and chicken rice.

the only review i can give for this hotel is for travellers to stay somewhere else.

we only booked here after purhasing their deal in Groupon, other wise, we would have stayed at another hotel.

the hotel is far from the attractions, even if we took shortcuts to jonker street, it still took us 15 minutes to walk...the food is bland...the management sucks...an old chinese guy who would like to argue more than please the customer...and the other staff knows only chinese...

but in fairness, the rooms are clean and spacious, the toilets are spacious as well with decent beddings and toiletries...

aside from that, not worth the trouble

Room Tip: pick a different hotel

This hotel located along jalan munshi abdullah one way street, on the left side and opposite sony electrical shop. They have car park inside the hotel compound and gated which is very safe. the only problem is the car park area is very small and it is very difficult to remove your car later. It is best to park your car with your car backside in rather than head in.

Check-in was easy and was asked what type of newspaper we want the next morning. Upon open the room, my kids keep saying "why so smelly?", i guess it was because they gave us a smoking room. The facility in the room is ok, equiped with safety deposit box, hair dryer, flat screen tv and hot shower. Bed is okay but bedsheet is a bit yellowish, shower water is very big and the toilet bowl even have automatic washer. Amenities given include toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and etc.

Our room is facing the road so it is very noisy whenever vehicle pass by. Every floor have wifi connection, which is a plus. Each floor also have CCTV installed including the lift, which is another plus in term of safety. They have a restaurant which is taste ok and considered cheap where you can get fried rice for US$2-3. Bad thing is there is nothing much you can do surrouding the hotel, i realized another sister hotel called Hallmark hotel is located as better location because it is near the Jonker street.

Room Tip: remember to ask for non-smoking room and not the one facing the road

Average stay. It was difficult to find if you are driving. Went there in a group of 3, staff there had no initative, they even gave us rooms which were rather distant from each other (though on the same floor). My friend was given a smoking room when he doesnt even smoke. The staff did not even bother to ask if we wanted smoking or non smoking rooms. A great let down there. There is a lift for guests, which is good. Other than that, nothing worth our time and money. The bed was alright, pillows were TOO soft, and the sheets are not clean and felt uncomfortable. The strong water pressure in the shower was the only good point in this hotel. Location was OKAY. A dangerous 15-20 mins walk along the roads of melaka to reach Jonker Walk.
Overall, I do not recommend this hotel. There are many better ones out there along Jonker! Baba House, Courtyard @ Heeren, and Jonker Boutique just to name a few.

Dont be fooled by it's substandard facade. I was prepping myself for tons of disappointment as we drove towards the hotel. However, the experience was nothing near disappointment!

Great carpark facilities. They have it gated to ensure your car is securely parked. You can even request for a room that oversees the carpark so you can have a constant lookout.

Service was excellent. Don't be expecting 5 stars service here. There's no "Pardon Me", and the infamous Ritz Carlton's "My pleasure", but be sure to be wowed by their genuine, down-to-earth and humble service. It makes you feel genuinely welcomed. Though they do not have someone stationed at the entrance to help you with the door, but that doesn't stop them from running out from their counter to give you a hand with your bags and the door. They have really really nice staff there, trust me!

Room was great! Clean, comfortable, cosy. If I really have to name a fault, i'd have to say it's the bedsheets. They are spotlessly clean, but not the most comfortable ones i've slept in. Otherwise, grea rain shower and impressive bidet toiletbowls!

Their breakfast is not the extensive American breakfast, but their local dishes is more than enough to get you started on your day.

They have security cameras installed in every corner, so it's really safe knowing someone's watching out for you.

If you need directions around the town, the friendly staff will be able to help. No concierge services, but they are just as good! Plus it's just a 10mins walk to the famous Jonker Street! and Hallmark gets you to everywhere!

For the price im paying, I felt terribly pampered there!
