Manager (Ajit) made us an offer at the bus stop. Kept his word on the price, but gave us a room he knew to be below standard, with a sewage pipe that leaks into the shower area (this is a first floor room to the rear of the hotel).

It was Tet, so the place was booked and we couldn't switch rooms. Manager made no effort to fix the problem or cover the stench. Just kept on drinking beer intended for the guests.

Room Tip: If you do decide to stay here, insist on a room that's on the second floor.

We are very happy about our stay here. We got a nice doubble room with a fan for 35 RM, and the room has a window and feels very light. We share bathroom with others but they are very clean. The Guest House also offers rooms with both AC and private bathrooms. Breakfast with toast and coffe/tea is including but you have to rent towels and a blanket for the bed.
( also good prices) The Guest House has a very good location and you can walk everywhere, they have a big living room where you can hang around, play games, watch movies and drink beer. ( the hostel has the cheapest beer in town!) You feel like home.

The staff are very friendly and have a great hospitality! They welcome you into their home and they really make a nice atmosphere. We liked it and stayed two more nights! The Guest House also has free Wifi in your room! The best hostel/ Guest House on our trip!

Room Tip: The Guest house has different types of rooms, doubble, singel, fan,ac, private bathroom. We wanted it...

Stayed for 3 nights at 55MR.
Our room was clean and a good size. Our private bathroom was very small but had everything you might need.
Good location- close to Melaka town and shopping malls.
Ana was very friendly.

Only concern was we stayed on ground floor and the window to our room didn't feel very secure.

I was approached at bus station, by lovely guy.. ( Ajit ) Not the usual pressure approach, instead, a bit of patter that all turned out to be correct.
Right in the mix of things to do.. I had 4 days there and could have stayed a further week..
Anna welcomes you at the hostel, and she's a star too... All the staff were wonderful.. No problems at all, use of the kitchen area, fridge etc...cheap beers, water and soft drinks available. rooms to suit any budget...Fan...A/C..En suite...shared bathroom...TV...Or not.. your choice...?
Each night was a great gathering place in the lounge and reception area.. people from all over the globe...
Met other friends of the people that run the hostel, and was invited out to eat with them...
Always good suggestions of where to go, eat and save money..
Lots of smiles, clean rooms, hospitable people, and at a great price ...
Cannot recommend highly enough... Thanks for my lovely stay, Ajit, Anna and all other staff...

Room Tip: There are some beautiful swimming pools open to the public within 3/4 mins walk... plenty of Gym'...

One of the guys on staff picked us off the street at the bus station and told us where to find his hostel/guesthouse (just off route 17 on the bus, very convenient). We the took a double room with a great separate toilet and shower. The price was right but you pay extra for towels and top sheets and I just can't over having to pay for toilet paper. Breakfast is included, toast with tea and coffee. For us the one big draw-back was the "non-smoking" area which was a common room connected to the dinning room where everyone sat and drank and SMOKED, yuck. The staff are really nice, rooms are clean but the kitchen could use a little attention.

We arrived in Melaka and expected it would it be worth to spend 4 days. First evening night markets in chinatown and directly closed to travellers planet where quiete nice to see but the next day we realised that melaka has nothing special to offer. but the travellers planet made it quiete great to stay at all cause of its cleaness, nice lobby, dvd area, fridges, kitchen and mostly the people working there.
as long as anna is working there you have the possibility to feel very famliar while as daughter and mother (a real globetrotter!!!) join her often!
and don't be afraid of the manager as he picks up people from the bus stand, he is just doin' it for give you the best place even if we felt different (cause it the indian way to grad the tourist and make traps). his soul is true and all he wants is to help you. also his sentence "the cheapest beer in melaka" is right, even if we usually don't drink while travelling we had some beers cause hangin' 'round with the people in the evening was not only good for our english experience ;-)
only thing that was not perfect was to sleep under the roof but it was our thing not to ask for a change and for 4nights it was okay at all. they offer a bit more expensive rooms with AC.
also the can make you reservations for really cheap and good rooms in Jahor Bahru (malaysian "part" of Singapore, Jomi Homestay) and Kuala Lumpur (Birds Nest), get you bus/train tickets without charging extra money and to whatever you what!

Melaka is thee most boring place I have ever been too!
So having a chill out lounge is essential when visiting and luckily this place has a great one with tv, dvds, games and puzzles. Down side = no air con in common room so it was stinking hot!! And the smokers common area is like the dining room, that opens right into the non smokers lounge... Needless to say, if you are not a smoker its pretty sick trying to watch a movie and breathing in second hand smoke!
However, this place does have all the amenities you need for a budget stay. (Except a towel, a top sheet or toliet paper!)
Laundry service was way over charged so make sure you see how much she weighs it at.
Room was spacious, lots of windows and shared bathroom was, well, a shared bathroom.
I highly recommend getting an air con room as the fan rooms are worse than saunas!
An average stay but still reasonably good value for money. Perhaps hunt around the area to see if you can stumble across something a wee bit nicer as here, it really is no frills!
