Owner description: Take a journey into Old Malacca within our walls. Step through the doors and visit a fine example of a late 18th century two-storey building. “No 8” houses a permanent exhibit on the conservation and restoration process of the building, as well as a short history of early shophouse and Dutch hybrid domestic architecture. The house is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30am to 4pm. No entrance fee; but donations are welcome.

A visit to this restored shop-house is a must after the tat of Jonkers Street and the incessant noise.
The restored shop-house has been restored without being embellished and up-dated. The guide was an expert on the history of the place and was most interesting.

There is not much to see in the house, but the staff was very informative. So if you are interested in the house or architecture in Malacca, it is a good idea to talk with him. You can take as many pictures as you want. Admission is free, but you can donate if you like.

it does not cost you anything, is a great (not busy) attraction to visit and the caretaker is great for a chat in regard to history in Malacca.
