“Only on Weekends”

This place is dead during the week, but on weekends it's really nice. There are a lot of galleries and art places. Enjoy a walk during Fr, Sa.

“Interesting restoration”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

This shop house was restored in response to a recommendation from the UN and it's been done with original materials where possible. There is info to read about what and why, which is elaborated on by the man who looks after it - and is very knowledgeable. No, it doesn't take long to walk around but it's interesting to know more about the shop houses and how they were built, as well as how they differ from the later houses. If you choose to make a donation you know it will aid future restoration work. Definitely worth a visit.

“simple but worth a look”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

the guy running the place is very helpful and lets you know all about the place - the house itself is pretty small and unspectacular but worth a short visit for sure

“A glimpse into history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

This simple shop house is one of the few that has been preserved and restored to its original state to give a glimpse of what life was like in old Melaka.
It only takes half an hour to visit, but is free (donations welcomed) and if you are interested in old buildings then this is worth visiting, just a few minutes for its contrast (rich versus poor) to the Baba Nonya heritage museum house just up the street

“Interesting insight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

It is a visually attractive place which gives an opportunity to understand more about the roots of the chinese shophouse architecture in Melaka, and of the struggle currently going on to preserve their integrity.
