Owner description: Take a journey into Old Malacca within our walls. Step through the doors and visit a fine example of a late 18th century two-storey building. “No 8” houses a permanent exhibit on the conservation and restoration process of the building, as well as a short history of early shophouse and Dutch hybrid domestic architecture. The house is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30am to 4pm. No entrance fee; but donations are welcome.

You have a choice of wak around or join a tour, same cost so I recommend you do the tour to get a better understanding of what you are seeing. A real glimpse of how life was.

We were shown around by a very attentive man who was one of those conserving the building. He told us about its history, its construction, the techniques needed to conserve the property etc. No entry fee, so leave a generous donation.

Talk to the person manning the center and have a tour. It doesn't take long but is very interesting. Another advantage is that there is no admission fee, but you can make a donation.

Great museums and cultural center- watch out for the parking Nazis- they are just waiting to write you a ticket.
