Just excellent. Lovely service, explained to us how to eat the interesting nuts that were in our curry with a little spoon. Food very authentic and delicious, tastes like a home cooked meal. Haven't found food like it since, and doubt I will find it anywhere else. Do not miss, please, do yourself a favour and do not miss.

I took my family to this restaurant at the end of May for dinner. It was recommended by a friend who grew up in Melaka. Overall the food was very good in flavour, but the highlight was a dish called Ayam Buah Keluak. It's basically a chicken stew kind of dish, but it is good with a special nut, which enriches the flavour and which you can eat as well. The inner part of the nut gets soft and you can eat it. The dish has an indian influence, with some cardoman and other spices in there. Anyway it's unique and worth ordering. I don't think you would see that type of dish anywhere else. The food could have come quicker, but the scenery on the river was nice. From what I understand this little river used to be run down but it has been revitalized, so cheers to the locals for building it up. One final tip, the tables are close to the river and there is really no barrier, so if you have young kids be prepared to be on the watch!

Cost us around RM30 for meal of 3 dishes, 2 rice and 1 dessert. Fairly cheap.

Anyhow, I have had better peranakan cuisine. Ayam pongteh was a disappointment. The sago gula melaka was served with a lot of ice pieces. :/

I went on weekday so it was quiet and the ambience was absolutely amazing at sunset.

This is the second time we tried this restaurant by the riverside. The food was average at best. The Keluaks from the Ayam Keluak were not properly cooked and quite hard. The kangkong sambal belacan was too salty. I think there are probably better peranakan restaurants in the area.

Expect a very 'homely' environment - an unhurried service but the waiter was polite and helpful. The dishes offered are quite typical of what you will find in a typical Peranakan household. We tried the deep fried so tong (which needed more salt), fried chicken (which was yummy and crispy), udang mask nenas (good), itik tim (good). At the end of the meal, we had a complimentary mango chilli salad which was delicious. This must be the only restaurant that served rice on a nice traditional ceramic plate - other restaurants only offered plastic ones - so that really created a home atmosphere! We were there for lunch so we were seated in the cafe but I believe it would be a lovely view at the river bank in the evening. Where you can sit, have a meal and have a good view of an old part of Melaka. Worth a try.
