I noticed this place with it's tables overlooking the river and St Frances Xavier church, and it seemed like the perfect view for dinner. The waitress was very helpful when I asked for something local and spicy and suggested I try the ayam buah keluak - chicken with black nuts, which are apparently a Nyonya specialty. She was kind enough to demonstrate the method of using a big spoon and a tiny spoon to scoop out the black nuts, and delivered my beer in a frozen glass - nice bonus! I wasn't disappointed. Black nuts are a hard taste to describe, musky, meaty and rich - great with the spicy sauce and rice.
I enjoyed the view and service so much I stopped in the next day for another beer in a frozen glass. Lovely.

We had a short weekend trip to Malacca and decided to try this restaurant. The tables were by the riverside (as the name indicates) with river cruises passing by. The evening ambiance was great with St. Francis Xavier's church view across the road. The lights made it stand out from the other buildings.

Service was good. We tried fur dishes - "ayam buah keluak", "itik tim" (duck soup with salted cabbage", "ayam pongteh" and prawn mee. The lady who served us explained on how to deal with the "keluak" fruit. The food were great and the prices were a steal!

Definitely going back to the restaurant again if we are in the vicinity!

We stopped at the Riverine restaurant, enjoying their riverside seating, nice drinks and local food and would happily stop there again.

This is a small locally operated restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating, is literally on the river, just a couple meters away, affording you some very nice environs for a drink or meal.

We stopped in the early afternoon and sampled a small order of the Ayam Buah Keluak (RM12.50) that is a chicken dish served with an interesting nut in a dark curry-like sauce, dish was a touch spicy but not much compared to other local and Nyonya style cuisine. Served with rice, we quite liked this dish (rating 3.5 of 5) and would consider ordering again.

Also had the pineapple juice and a Malacca Coffee that were both pretty good (3.5 of 5) as well. Service was friendly and food and drinks were served timely.

In the end, this was a good stop in a very good location, would have no problem stopping at Riverrine again!

nicely situated on the bank of the river. Front of restaurant doesn't look appealing make sure you go through to the back by the river. Not much seating area. Food traditional and tasty, very reasonably priced.
