I stayed at both the Emas and Besi guesthouses (in a single and dorm room). Sam is a helpful and friendly host but a lot of other patrons were always running looking for him since he manages both guesthouses on his own. It might pose a slight problem for travelers who are a little less independent. The single room was clean and I slept well. Very quiet. The dorm was also good but had mosquitos. The WiFi connection is really strong throughout the guesthouse. Overall, a great place. I recommend it!

I spent a night here and found that it was a nice place to stay in centre of Melaka. Friendly and helpful host. Clean room with clean linen. The room that I had come with attached bathroom and equiped with aircond. Wifi available in common area and room. Walking distance to Jonker street, Stadhuy and some other attractions in Melaka old town. Lovely place to stay. Value for money.

I don't think I've ever stayed in a place as easygoing as this one. Sam keeps the guesthouse clean, casual, and friendly. It is located in Melaka's charming China Town and the building is still in the traditional Dutch/Chinese style (if you can imagine that!). At only 12 Ringgit a night for a dorm bed, you'll have lots left in the budget to go shopping on Jonker Street then treat yourself an extra chendol. There's free wifi (and use of computer), tea and coffee, fan, nightlight, mosquito coils (NEEDED!), bicycle rental, laundry facilities, book exchange, small lockers, and security cameras. Great value and friendly service!

The main house was full so we stayed in the annex up the road which was like a self contained little apartment - very nice and quiet. The rooms were spotless and very good value for money. The owner/manager, Sam, was very helpful. The guesthouse was very close to the main sights too which was brilliant. There was also a really lovely restaurant in the town called 'The Geographer', the food was perfect.

I stayed here for two nights and loved every second of it! The owner was very friendly and helpful and it was a great place to meet fellow travelers. My favourite part of it was the indoor/ outdoor natural feel to the place.
The stay was comfortable- the rooms spacious and airy. Beds were great and thank goodness for the fans above the beds. Everything was convenient about this hostel.
Location: The street parallel to Jonkers St- only 5-10min walk away from the UN World Heritage Site and the colonial centre.
Can't recommend this place enough!
