The wrap-size popiah contain julienned sengkuang/jicama (instead of the usual finely shredded), egg, beansprout, sweet and chili sauce, and pork lard. Flavourful with the sweetness of the sengkuang and fragrant lard (does leave an oily aftertaste). Decent crowd queing even on a weekday.

As a pure Malaccan and Malaysian Chinese and growing up eating popiah at home and now out of home, this place is no big deal. It's an ordinary popiah with pork lard in it. Nothing special to justify waiting long lines for it or the above market price of RM5. Enough said.

Read about this stall located at Jalan Bunga Raya. Got there 45mins before they close at 6pm and there was still a queue of about 7 persons but it was fast moving. This version of popiah is unique because it doesn’t have any “lup cheong” or Chinese sausage. The popiah skin is not dry at all and more like a soft crepe. There’s the usual sweet sauce balanced with chilli sauce as a base and then topped with stewed sliced turnip, chopped hard boiled egg and their special ingredient - crispy fried lard. It’s that last ingredient that gives this popiah that delightful crunch when you bite into it. Try it, you won’t regret it. I also like the way they wrap it so it’s easy to eat without getting your fingers all messy. By the way, there’s a notice displayed at the stall - no photography, videos and flash. Bloggers and vloggers beware!

As happened to be in the vicinity, walked around area to look for this street side stall - found it outside Mdm King's dept store. At RM$5 a piece, it's a good sized popiah, crunchy with the lard bits - tasted very Good. Yummy.

A small streetside pushcart with unseemingly food was almost missed. Look around for Mdm King's Dept Store and this is just right outside of it. Pork lard which are reduced to crunchy bits are mixed into this yummy roll of stewed raddish mixed with peanuts, sauces and chilli (optional).

Seriously, worth the effort to head there for just this.
