Baked fish (snapper) RM28 - spicy and went well with rice.

Fried sotong RM12 - was not the best I've eaten but still delicious.

Chicken curry Debal RM12 - the curry was aromatic and tasted nice. Generous portion for its price. Had potatoes in it too.

Fried brinjals RM5 - a must try. Simply mouth watering and fried to perfection.

Rice RM2 - perfect for two persons.

Lime juice RM2.50 - good taste but slightly expensive to me.

The food here is delicious and affordable. We had vegetable soup which was tasty without being salty, fried squid which was crunchy and crispy on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside, Debal's curry that had tender chicken and potatoes which soaked up the aromatic curry, sambal brinjal which had a good bite and wasn't oily, and a very very yummy ikan bakar which was wrapped in banana leaf and foil and baked with sambal chilli and served with a lime for us to squeeze over it to taste. The food was simply awesome, a really hearty meal.

The restaurant is located in the Portuguese settlement, just behind the square that faces the sea. I think its a family business. It has a homey feel.

There's a stretch of Portugese Seafood Restaurants along the beach but San Pedro is hidden at one of the residential street nearby. Forget about those expensive restaurants for tourist. San Pedro is the place to go if you want tasty and reasonably priced seafood. From a Singaporean's point of view - a good seafood dinner for less than $20 per person is definitely a steal! Please do call them early (one day in advance if you can) for reservations and your orders

Must try:
- baked fish
- chilli prawn
- chilli crabs
- fried brinjals
- devil's curry
- bombay toast
- squid fritters

Singaporean foodie friend recommended this place so highly we went looking for it the night we arrived in Malacca. It's not in Portuguese Square itself but on the quiet residential street BEHIND the square. If you're set on going to San Pedro, don't be fooled by the touts for the Portuguese Square stalls who'll admit to any name to get you seated.

San Pedro is nondescript and a bit dingy, and we were the only table at 8.30pm on a weekday, but the authentic Portuguese-Malay food more than made up for the lack of atmosphere. Try the battered sotong (squid), baked fish, devilled chicken, honey-grilled chicken, sambal veggies -- all fantastically yummy.

My foodie friend told us to order the grilled brinjal (eggplant) and stir-fried ladies' fingers but they were sold out. But you can call ahead so they'll buy the veg. Their phone number: 0216062842170 . It's run by 2 Eurasian sisters--not particularly friendly but can they cook! Their prices are extremely reasonable too.

San Pedro is located at a quaint neighbourhood and near the sea..... Great environment. We ordered baked fish, devil's curry and fried ladies finger.... Everything was so good and yummy. Price is affordable too. Family business hence feels like eating in an eurasion home. Food was so good that we came back for the second time and packed 4 boxes home.
