A huge thank you to Les and Sheila for providing an absolutely lovely place to stay, which is so peaceful and relaxing and away from all the heat and hub bub. The food is excellent, staff so friendly and efficient, swimming pool a real bonus and rooms very comfortable. This is a really lovely family run hotel, which provides excellent value for money. We will definately be back.

Stayed here for a week in November and can thoroughly recommend it. The whole feel is of being guests in the owners home rather than customers in a hotel. Les & Sheila & their staff are friendly and helpful and the chef is excellent- his fish vindaloo and prawn curry were the best we had and certainly a cut above the standard fare at the beach restaurants. The hotel is set back from the main village and is an oasis of calm, especially the dining patio and the shady pool area.

Room Tip: Room 2 is large and cool.

Do not be deceived by the first impressions. When our taxi parked along the road after a long drive coming from the North and we saw the moldy walls and the flight of staircases going up and up... we were not so sure we had bet on a good horse. Well, we had as a a matter of fact. The smiles on the owners face were enough to make us home. Immediately we started to chat and felt welcome.

It was the end of the monsoon - late September - and there was ongoing painting and cleaning work but it was quite discreet really.
We wished to have A/C to combat the persistent humidity and the room we had been allocated did not have it. In no time we were accommodated in another very pleasant room.

There was no restaurant available but we had room service or should we say" private terrace service" at our convenience. Our daughter could not stop eating chips. We also tried, they are really good.

The location is great, not directly on the beach, which meant peaceful nights. The pool was operational, scooter readily available. When we felt the need for a little action, we were well advised on directions to the various beaches, parks and nearby cities. All in all had a grand time during our 4 day stay.

I submitted a review of the oceanic in May 2010. Stayed there again in February of this year and it was as good as ever. The rooms are all comfortable and everything works. Air conditioning is available although we did not need it in February it may be helpful in May. The small pool is beautifully landscaped and we were visited by monkeys on 2 of the days we were there.
What really makes for an exceptional stay however is the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners Les and Sheila and their staff. Nothing is too much trouble, they can arrange taxis and motorcycle hire, give advice on day trips, suggest restaurants and generally make sure you have a great time. They arranged the hire of a great Royal Enfield Motorcycle for us on this trip.
The hotel is in easy reach of 2 beaches. Palolem which is fairly busy and Patnem which is quiter with lots of great shacks for food an drink. The surrounding area is beautiful and well worth exploring either by motorbike or scooter or tuk tuk.
We find a holiday at the Oceanic the perfect antidote to the stresses of a busy life and highly recommend it.

My husband and I stayed at the oceanic for 10 nights in March 2012. The beach was just starting to really heat up at Patnem and Palolem so it was always a relief to have the pool at the Oceanic to cool down after touring around or being at the beach. As soon as you walked up to the steps to the hotel you felt refreshed by the micro climate they have surrounding the hotel. The rooms are comfortable due to the western style beds, soft pillows, clean surroundings and modern bathrooms. The rooms were cleaned every day, towels changed every day and the bedding changed every second or third day. Every day we ate breakfast in the outdoor patio area and had a few lunches and dinners. The food was very good overall. The staff was always very friendly and helpful and the owners Les and Shelia were around every day to ensure the hotel was running smoothly and to give Dixie the dog a shower poolside, which is very entertaining! The hotel is not located on a beach; however it is almost equal distance from both Patnem and Palolem beaches. By walking maybe 10mins and rickshaw was 50 Rp. The hotel is surrounding by mango, cashew, coconut trees and many other plants. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to stay off the beach!

The best hotel we have stayed in in India. Beautifully appointed with friendly helpful staff. Les and Sheila are perfect hosts who made us very welcome.
Every thing in the hotel worked (not the usual thing in Indian hotels) and was perfectly clean and ordered.
It is a very comfortable and stylish small hotel where service matters.
We will return.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor A/C room close to reception. It was quite but slightly small & dark. It wa...

My partner and I stayed at hotel Oceanic for Christmas and new year. It was an unforgetable holiday and the hotel helped make it so! The location of the hotel is just perfect- only 5min away on a moped from the beach and town, but far enough that it so is peaceful. The staff went out of their way for us from ordering the mopeds to organising boat trips and even babysitting!! they even advised us on how much we should barter for shopping and recommended excellent restaurants to go to when we weren’t eating at the hotel (even though their food was delicious). It is run by a lovely English couple who have been there for over ten years but employ local staff who are genuinely helpful, smiley and efficient. Everything we neede they provided even if it meant going to the shops there and then, no request was too much trouble. The pictures on their website do not do justice to the beauty of the hotel and we were blown away by it. It is really well layed out with lots of different areas relaxing and entertainment. There is a stage area where, on Christmas day they had organised local entertainment which was superb! The de-core of the bedrooms is lovely and they are kept spotlessly clean as is the rest of the hotel. I genuinely haven’t got a bad word to say about it and will most certainly be returning.

Room Tip: room 1 and room 3 are the biggest
