“Amazing thick forest”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

in january ,we visited cotigao sanctuary. its a lovely thick forest with high trees and water bodies all around .There is an amazing tree house, almost 60-70 feet high. You have to walk for atleast 15 minutes in the jungle to reach there. The road to tree house is well demarketed by white painted stones on two sides of road. The trail to tree house is thrilling with total silence on the road with many tree barks, springs and real jungle darkness in the afternoon hours. You can see the scenic beauty of jungle from the top of tree house. We have seen few bird watchers with a keen interest in wild bird life.A must see place in goa,if you are tired of beaches.

“Sanctuary?”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

Well if this is a nature sanctuary – i´m a monkey! We drove and drove on our scooters, trees was what we saw. We parked and walked through a path in to the "jungle" and alas! There was a big tree with a dangerous rusty ladder to climb at your own risk. But if you do, if you are really into risking your life, you will be able to see the forrest frpm above, wow!

“Meeting Julie the leopard”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Julie is an abandoned leopard cub being raised by the rangers. She is frisky and delightful. meeting her in the rescued animal area was a bonus.the Machan inside the forest is a challenge to climb but well worth the view

“It's jungle out there! ”
Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

Had been to Cotigao in Mid December 2013. Ideal time to visit is very early in the morning. I think 6 or 7 am is ideal. However if you want to just roam around, any time is a good time!

The receptionist is very helpful and explained the concept of the sanctuary. It seems there are not many tourists who venture here as the place was pretty deserted. Entry fee is 30 INR.

The reason for early morning visit is if you want to see animals. We visited in the noon so did not get a chance to see any animals.

Best way to explore the sanctuary is on a bike. We hired a scooter (Honda Dio) to explore but I would strongly suggest to hire a bike as the road leading to the lake is not that good.

We visited the tree top which is pretty cool. I think the top is about 25 feet above the ground. The ladder leading to the top shakes a little but once you reach the top the view is pretty good. You have to be really lucky and quiet if you want a spot a animal that may come to drink water in the pond below the tree top. Again ideal time is early morning or dusk.

Remember to take some snacks and water as there are not many options once you get inside the jungle. You have to return to the main gate before 5 pm.
Overall a different experience if you get bored of the beaches!
