These huts are set back from the beach 50m and all seemed to have free wi-fi. The hut we stayed in was raised up on stilts and had its own balcony with table, chairs and a hammock. Inside the hut we had a double bed fitted with a mosquito net, and an attached bathroom.

We would recommend these huts, but we witnessed one incident whilst staying there that is stopping us.

On the second night we were sat on our balcony and my partner suddenly leaned over the balcony and started shouting ‘oi! oi! oi!’, I then looked over our balcony down at reception and saw the owner hitting his wife. She was sat on her chair and he was using both arms to hit her, and his legs to try and kick her chair from underneath her. I have never felt so angry and I started shouting at him until he stopped. The most worrying thing was that all the other staff were just stood around watching and they didn't say anything – it took us to stop him. It really concerns me that domestic violence is so accepted in India that he felt he could hit his wife in public. For this reason we would actually recommend you stay at one of the other beach huts along Palolem beach which are just as nice as witnessing this incident made us feel uncomfortable for the rest of our stay.

When we first arrived at Palolem, we wanted to stay in a beachview hut! But we had to find out, that it is very difficult to get one at the beginning of the season so we checked out all the other places...And Cressida is far the best value for money. The ressort is approx. 50m away from the beach, the spacious huts are equipped with double beds (very comfy mattress, compared to other places in India!), a mosquito net and a fan. The bathroom is big and clean, although only with cold water (but who cares when there are 30 degrees Celsius outside?!). The security is far better than in other places (at night a guard and a dog walk around) and there is even a quite fast WiFi! And last but not least: staff is very friendly and helpful and they offer very reasonable priced excursions and/or airport/railway pick-ups or drop-offs!

We returned in Jan 2012 for a few nights at Cressida staying in Sofias huts. Very clean with large bed and mosquito net supplied, also plug in insect repellent. Power points, overhead fan, attached shower, toilet and sink.

Great location for exploring the South end of Goa, the staff are very friendly and helpful and has a very happy atmosphere. Will be returning next time we go!

My partner and I stayed at the Cressida Guest House in Palolem in November 2010. The place is a collection of beach shacks (lovely little huts) that are just off the beach at Palolem behind the Cressida Restaurant (owned by the same family).

The family that run the place are amazingly nice, friendly people, Anthony and Sofia looked after us for our stay, Anthony driving our taxi and Sofia even coming along to show us incredible places from near where she used to live. John drove us all the way up to near Anjuna for a day trip at a very reasonable rate, a great guy.

The shacks are clean and have a nice atmosphere, almost like a little village in a lovely quiet spot but thats only a 1 minute walk from restaurants, bars, the beach (10 second walk!).

A great place, we will be returning in January 2012 :)
