We stayed here in the month of Sept for 3 nights. Overall the experience is fantastic. Although small, it has everything that satisfies a couple who look forward exploring south of Goa. This place is conveniently located off the main highway connecting south of Goa to Karwar. A 2 km drive from the highway takes you directly to this place. The theme of the resort as name suggests is Garden, lush greenery all around the wooden cabins well-appointed around the nice little swimming pool. We loved everything, the pool, the cabin itself, proximity to beaches etc. The staff was courteous, well behaved and very responsible. The only minuses if i have to mentioned are
1. TV didn't have too many channels, my favorite new channel was grainy and i missed regular 10 mins new updates before retiring.
2. Since our room was located well inside far away from reception, we hardly got covered by WIFI, the signal strength was so bad that we couldn't use WIFI at all.
3. Considering it was off season restaurant missed usual crowd hence food was so so ..

Other than these everything else was fantastic, the arrival & check-in formalities, breakfast buffet, room service everything.. One thing worth mentioning was during checkout the lady staff visited our room for helping us with luggage movement, checked for additional cables connected to TV & got us back our forgotten camera cable. This kind of service is truly amazing and frankly unheard off. I like to appreciate every staff of this resort and i really wish to be back here this summer.

Well Friends, After doing lots of online research,

Finally I’ve booked one of the best resort in South Goa “The Fern Gardenia Resort” for my memorable Honeymoon trip in February 2013, Believe me that was truly an memorable trip for both of us. As the name of Resort "The Fern Gardenia" itself describe about the Resort which is beautifully covered with blanket of natural greenery in each & every place.

We have booked Fern Club Cottage for 5 Nights. When we reached resort me & my wife was quite tired after the long journey but after seeing the resort & specially our beautifully decorated cottage we're totally surprised & felt really special & refresh. The cottages were very clean and spacious, permanent AC, clean washroom & nice Jacuzzi. Each & every Resort staff are very disciplined, loving, polite & helpful.. Keep up the great work team.

About the restaurant part, They offer excellent buffet breakfast, delivers some great mouthwatering dishes with best in class quality. We really enjoyed their Special Sambhar Vada, Cheese Omelet, Red beas & other dishes as well. They also offer great restaurant services throughout the day till 11pm @ night. Guys specially Reena/Gary at Resort Reception helped me in arranging 2 wheeler, info. about some great places/beaches in south/north Goa etc. Guys I am short of words to express my wonderful experience about the Goa & specially about "The Fern Gardenia Resort".

Looking forward to re-visit Goa & Fern very soon.. Keep up the Good Work Guys.. Kudos to you :)

Room Tip: Wonderfully designed Wooden Cottage, Privacy, Location & Great hospitality.. Great Place for the...

Spent a week here in early Feb. Lovely small resort in a quiet area away from the main beaches surrounded by lush tropical (fern?) vegetation. Free taxi shuttle useful but to be honest it's only 60/70 rps anyway for a 2 person Tuk Tuk ride to/from Palolem beach area.

We had one of the club bungalows with a mini-bar/fridge. The room was excellent - plenty of space, comfortable bed, modern flat screen TV, space age shower unit, great A/C, fans, free daily newspaper etc. Pool area 5m from door. Cleaning staff kind, friendly and efficient. Good, free internet.

Pool area had about 10/12 comfortable sun-beds and associated small side tables and brolly shades. There were also 2 tables and associated chairs near the shaded part of the pool bar area for meals and drinks. Pool bar service was "intermittent" but you can appreciate it is hard to justify keeping it staffed all day unless the pool area is fully occupied by guests. We often had it to ourselves and you can alert a passing member of staff and someone from the restaurant will arrive with a menu promptly enough.

The breakfast is OK with Indian and International standards. The ubiquitous egg/omelet, cereals, breads, fruit. The usual dreadful attempt at creating a sausage substitute. Watery fruit juices. Service OK - you have to keep asking for coffee top ups, toast etc.

We had one evening meal and several lunch time pool snacks and found the restaurant's Indian food to be much better. The Chilli Prawns were excellent - seemed a bit like a Jalfrezi, cooked with Capsicums and Onion in a thick spicy sauce. Yum.

Front desk helpful and courteous. Hotel grounds are lit up at night with fairy lights in the trees and plants.

We spent a day at Agonda beach and really liked it there. Less commercial than Palolem beach which is also lovely if a little more crowded with boats/hawkers.

Evening meal favorites were Dropadi's and Little Italy although we never had a bad meal anywhere. We love Indian food anyway and the local food is excellent and cheap. After doing the Golden triangle tour the week previously, pleased to find beers at 60/70 rps rather than the 250/280 rps we had been paying up north!!

Overall a very nice stay, good value and we would return in a heartbeat.

This is a lovely little place - good ambiance, great service, very friendly staff and ideally located - if you wish to enjoy South Goa. I was there for 4 nights and I must admit that my stay was ever so enjoyable.

The rooms were clean, bathroom tidy, pool beautiful and the staff very hospitable. I was a bit apprehensive before visiting this place after reading some of the "not so good" reviews about the quality of service, but I must admit that my experience was, to the contrary, extremely good.

We ate mostly Indian food and enjoyed it thoroughly - and the best part was it was always made to order. Crompton (staff at the restaurant) was very good and there was another guy (I forget his name, sigh!) who was great too..

Things that were not so good - rooms are very small, although bathrooms were decent, and the free shuttle service is only till 6 PM - they should probably think about having it round the clock. Since the beach is some distance away, this would help greatly. Also, the wifi does not work always in the rooms and you have to be at the reception to use it. Lastly, they should have a auto switchover during power cuts - there is quite some delay in the event of a power cut before the backup power kicks in..

Lastly, this place is very affordable - with the kind of services and amenities it offers, it is a steal - quite surprised to read on Trip Advisor that people did not like their quality of service.

I would definitely be at the Fern again!

Room Tip: Go for a bigger room - sadly those were booked when we tried!

Fern Gardina is a lovely small boutique resort. Rooms are available in standard or family - we were in the smaller standard rooms which were extremely small. Rooms were clean, good bathroom, comfy beds, lovely pool, comfy sun loungers, beautiful setting, free shuttle to the beach were all the positives for this resort. Unfortunately we found the customer service to be very poor. Staff couldn’t understand most of our English requests. Food in the restaurant was the worst I experienced in Goa, and it would have been nice to have seen the swim up pool bar opened once in the 5 days that we were there (at the beginning of peak season). The resort is also located on good half hr at least walk from the beach, so again, location wasn’t ideal as you were dependant on taxi's. All in all this was a beautiful resort, peaceful with great facilities. Location iffy depending on guests. Food and customer service very much need improvement.

Room Tip: Would suggest the bigger family rooms if budget allows. Struggled to fit our bags besides the bed.

I’d like to begin by saying that I am very, very surprised by the reviewers who didn’t like the service at the Fern Gardinia — as far as my husband and I are concerned, we had nothing but excellent service during the 3 nights we stayed at the hotel… the front desk staff, the dining room waiters, the cleaning ladies — ALL the staff, without exception, were pleasant, efficient, and helpful, in other words, very professional… our room (the Hazel Suite) was spacious and clean, the Internet connection was very good (and free!), and there was free bottled water in our room every day… the most pleasantly surprising thing about the Fern Gardinia is the quality of the restaurant! before leaving Canada, my husband made a list of restaurants where we could have dinner in the evening but, after eating at the Fern Gardinia, we decided to dine there all three nights… the only thing lacking, but that’s a problem particular to India in general and not to this hotel specifically, is a selection of foreign wines…the hotel is within walking distance of several beaches (we even walked to Cola beach about 12 km away!) but if you don’t like to walk, there’s a free shuttle bus to a nearby beach… if we return to Goa in the future we will definitely return to the Fern Gardinia.

Room Tip: the Hazel Suite is the largest, and close to the restaurant but still very quiet

Enjoying our stay of three weeks, the hotels cottages are comfortable and have everything you need. There are eighteen cottages, around a pool and garden , there are three categories to choose from, we are in the green room cottage which is smaller than the others and does not have a fridge. But you can use the fridge in the little bar by the breakfast room, so no problems. Nice modern TV , rooms cleaned daily by excellent staff, who smile and are most helpful, as are all the other staff members.
Its about three quarters of mile from beach , hotel provides free transfers up to six pm, although we do walk to it most days. Sun beds and chairs are free on the beach they are owned by different cafes , and you can use them all day so long as you buy a drink.. If you are looking for peace and tranquility , this is the one for you.

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms get booked up quickly , so decide what you prefer well in advance, but ours...
