“Nice time at Palmarinha Resort”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We have stayed for 5 nights at the Palmarinha and the stay was very good.

In the front office Camilo, Sneha, Praveen and Savio service was good and Camilo helped us with lot of advise and information about the nearby places. Camilo service was excellent.

In the restaurant Diego was very friendly and helpfull, he recommended us the food according to our taste. Other staff like Ithorian, Suryakanth, Francisco, Sagar and Akshay service was also good. Food was good and tasty, prices were average compared to other resorts we visited before and we enjoyed the outside tables.

Jay, the housekeeping guy, was doing excellent job maintaining the room very clean and tidy.

About the room, it was big and it was having nice view of the pool. The balcony was worth.

We did not try many of the amenities, only the Business center and it was good, with books to pass time.

For sure we will recommend this resort and hope to experience again.

We've stayed at the Palmarinha twice, having prior to that stayed in 2* hotels in the heart of Calangute.
The little extra that we paid was well spent as air conditioning was inclusive and the breakfast buffet was excellent, consisting of a wide variety of continental and Indian items, much more appetising than the tea and toast that had been the extent of the breakfast offered in other Calangute hotels

The pools were both clean and there was always sunbeds in both full sun and shade.
The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable though I had hoped that we might get a bigger room as we were sharing it with my 17 year old daughter for whom I had paid full price. Instead a fold up bed was hauled into the room which didn't leave much space for moving around.

The hotel is about 15-20mins walk into Calangute centre and a lovely relaxing walk it is too where all manner of wild life can be spotted along the way. We saw many kingfishers, lizards, cattle egrets and red kites and at night had frequent sightings of fruit bats. Very rarely do any vehicles go down this road and this walk for us was an advantage rather than a chore.
If you don't fancy the walk I imagine that It can work out quite expensive getting taxis to and fro a couple of times each day.
The staff are friendly and happy to offer information and advice.

The drinks are far more expensive than in the main resort and the food by most accounts is not of a good standard. There is however a charming restaurant right out of the main entrance then the first turning on the left. Keep well in to the hedges though as the traffic can be quite busy down there.
I've read recent reviews of the hotel standards slipping. I hope that this isn't the case as we were hoping to book again for December.

That's exactly how we describe our locale..away from the hustle and bustle. we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. You have missed seeing the variety of birds at breakfast time , next time please get a pair of binoculars. We hope to see you again and definitely you will find it even better than your previous trip.
Thanks for choosing Palmarinha Resort

I with my friend stayed here for 3 nights here. We had a nice experience in this hotel. The house keeping boy has an excelent art of keeping the room pleasant. The food was nice and the pool was also nice.Except few worries we had that the bath room tap some times run with muddy water, the mini bar in the room was empty,no weireless internet connection available, restaurant closes max. @ 10.30pm,room service charges were sky high. But other than that we had nice stay here. The man named Diago in the restaurant was a bit intresting man. Serving was nice. I have never seen the pool side bar ever functioning.

Room Tip: prefer ground floor rooms in south side block.

My wife and I have just stayed at the Palmarinha resort for 2 weeks. Our first impression was a good one with the girl on reception speaking very good English and being very helpful with our booking in. Our room on the second floor was facing the back fields, the views are very nice but the draw back is the noise from the roads especially early mornings from around 6am also a number of Indian people were staying in the hotel who have very little if no regard for other people, constantly shouting in the corridors and banging doors. Having stayed in Calungute on 2 previous occasions I was expecting a very basic breakfast but was pleased with the quality and variety in comparison to other hotels. The only disappointing thing were the taxi's trying it on and charging different prices for the same journey we overcame this by using the same Tuk Tuk driver who we used at least twice a day. The rooms are kept very clean with the room boy being quite imaginative with the towel sculptures each day.

Room Tip: For quietness ask for a room with a pool view.

The Palmarinha is quite a nice hotel and the staff are very helpful, rooms are clean and our room boy Das was an artist at towel folding we had something different every day on our bed from swans, crocodiles, elephants and even a bulls head it was a shame to shower and spoil the towel displays. I was very ill one night and told my husband to go down to the bar for a drink as i would be ok and just wanted to sleep, he came back to the room after 45mins to check i was ok only to find the key was in the room with myself and he could not waken me by banging on the door so went to reception and asked them to open the door which they did promptly (i was ok just sunstroke but was out cold). The taxi drivers became greedy our second week charging 100 rupes the first week then upping the price to 150 rupes the second week just to go into calangute, we tried haggling but they were having none of it and insisted on 150 rupes we told them where to get off and flagged a taxi down and booked him for the rest of our second week. The food in the hotel is not very good your better off eating in one of the restraunts in the centre. If you want peace and quiet at this hotel insist on a wildlife view from the back of the hotel its fabulous you see alsorts of different birds from kingfishers, cranes, red kites etc and you will se the elephant walking down the road at breakfast time. The waiters love it if you can show them any magic tricks they dubbed my hubby magicman for showing them tricks which were even obvious to a 10 year old. If you want a kettle then ask at reception they are free of charge for an early morning cuppa. The electricity goes off around 6.30am for between 10 mins to half an hour and usually ina the evening 7.30pm. This is normal for Goa and happens in the bars and restraunts so take a small torch with you.

Hotel was clean and staff were excellent especially Diego and Ireton. I wish that the shuttle bus ran at least one trip in the evening. My husband and I spent more on transport to and from the hotel than we did on food??
The experience was fantastic at Palmarinha and the walk into to town was very scary, do to not footpaths anywhere!! If you want an Hotel away fronm the Hustle & Bustle this is a great choice.
This is the first visit of many to Goa, but would not go in March again as it was too hot and humid, the lowest temperature that we experienced was 26 degrees at 10o'clock in the evening. The Air conditioning was always on.
