“a fantastic time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

please do not be alarmed by any negative reviews regarding this accomodation. The hotel is situated close to the beach and a few minutes walk to the main road .The staff are friendly and welcoming and are only too happy to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Take a padlock with you as you will need this to lock your safe. Sammy the taxi man is based outside the hotel he has much knowledge and advice on trips and sightseeing and his prices are far cheaper than going through your rep. Our rooms were very basic but clean and tidy. We didnt opt for air con as there was a huge fan above the bed which was more than adequate. If you need any groceries visit Quintet stores next to the melting pot they are so cheap and if they havent got what you want they will get it. Best expirience ever. ENJOY.

Room Tip: Air con isnt neccassary as all rooms have a fan. Take a padlock you will need one to lock your safe...

stayed here for 3 weeks in dec 2011 from the 9th dec to the 30th.
olympic has marked this hotel as 2 star and i would say the interior is your typical 2 star indian hotel, its clean but is looking very tired, nothing is to much problem for the room boys, if you want something changed, then they are straight to it, they cleand the rooms very well and very thorough, we had a room over the back of the hotel looking over the swimmimg pool room 204. the grounds are great more like 5 star, infact you can imagine this hotel a few years back being a higher star, very clean gardens and pool, bar staff again are very attentive, nothing ever to much, when the lights in the garden come on at night wow stunning.

all the staff where great especially mike the bar man, very helpfull, did not deal much with jo jo the hotel manager, he was ok, but came across as if he could make a quick buck out of you he would, but like i said we had no dealings with him,

2 taxi drivers outside steve and sam very helpfull and honest about prices, had a good laugh with them, we only used them a couple of times, as we had a scooter, but the times we did use them they was fair with there prices.

ok 1 bad point about this hotel, which is not necessarily the hotels fault, but neither them or olympic are doing much about the problem. so it needs to be mentioned, especially if you are taking kids. DRUGS...... this started being brought to our attention whe my father and step mum had room 208, back of hotel right at the end, it over looks a house to the right of the hotel, infront of the balcony is a 6ft wall that you cant see from first floor some trees and then a building being built which is aprox 15ft away from the balcony. they where out on the balcony for a few days and noticed lots of comings and goings in the house, after further investigation we found out that the the owner of the house was one of the biggest drug distributors in the area. it got busier very busy to the point where my father changed room, as one night he was sitting on his balcony when, the drug dealer shon a tourch in my fathers face ( aprox mindnight) from the building only 15ft away from balcony, my father saw this as a warning, and went in the room locked the door. as it got busier so did the small bit of wasteland oppisite the front of the hotel, all nationallities buy there crack, heroin mainly go onto this wate land and jack up, another gentleman at the hotel had pictures of a man jacking up aprox 30ft from the hotel on the road, the reason i know it,s crack, heroin is because i was offered it on the steps of the hotel. so be vgilante if you stay at this hotel especially if your room is out the front on ground level, nothing was stolen from the balconys but sam the taxi driver said sometimes they do steal from the balconys.
it may have been extra busy due to xmas or the sunburn festival to.

when i approched the rep he said it used to be worse and all they can do is tell the hotel boss who will tell the local council, it will quieten down a bit then get busy again.

it was not violent in the area it was just the vast amount of comings, goings and drug taking outside hotel, that has made me say, i would not stay at this hotel again for the above reason only. did i feel threatend at all no i did not, but my father did.

also building work next door, so expect a bit of noise.

please remember the hotel is great thats why i gave it 4 stars

Room Tip: 203,204 and 205 over look swimmimg pool, nice view

Stayed at the senhora angelo in november for 2 weeks, i had read the reviews and was a little bit anxious before going, but you do have to remember you are in india and their 3 stars are the same as our very very basic no star accomodation, but saying that it was clean enough, i had no problems throughout my stay apart from the first night when we arrived at 2.30am and our room was not ready so they put us in the hovel over the kitchen/canteen area, cried all night, but was offered the best of 2 rooms in the morning.the hotel is in a perfect location 5 mins from beach all the local shops and bars.we are going back to goa in april, we wont be staying in the senhora but not because of anything bad, just would like more creature comforts and a telly, just for those nights when you have walked and drank enough, and want to just rest and relax.

Stayed for 1 month at this hotel. Had the most fantastic holiday. Met lots of wonderful people who have stayed here for last 2/3/4 years. Great hotel but very friendly. Staff, especialy Johnny on the bar at night excellent. Rooms are a bit jaded but then how long do you actually spend in them? Location brilliant for both beach and town. Will definitely be staying here again.

My wife and myself stayed here for 3 weeks, mid Feb to the beginning of March. As Goa "veterans", we would have to say that it really is a great little hotel. The location is great, just a 5 min walk from the beach, about the same in the opposite direction to Baga road, and not much further to Calangute Road, Yet it is far enough out of the way to be secluded. Don't get me wrong, there is a bit of noise from the bread man honking the horn on his bike and from the Russians' hotel opposite, as well as the locals talking outside the front of the hotel. But all in all it's a great location. The pool is superb and it's usually pretty quiet around the pool area. The staff are very friendly, Jo Jo was great and even drove us all the way to Gokarna for a reasonable price, waited around all day for us, and then took us back to the hotel. We would definitely recommend the Melting Pot restaurant just around the corner, food's great and the staff are really friendly. If you need cigs or booze etc go to Quinta stores which is just up from the Melting Pot, next to the Cricketers Pub. The guy in there is great and can't do enough to help. If you get a chance go on the House Boat, Wildernest, and Rajastani tent beach tour, they were all very good.

We have been to Calangute for the last seven years and always stayed at the same hotel. Unfortunately the guests behaved in a manner around the pool that would have had the germans complaining and we were ashamed to say we were English, so we had a change. All i can say it was a lovely 3weeks at the senhor angelo. The staff , jonny mac ,effie and jojo made our stay by being very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the same as in most hotels and was more than adequate, and we ate in the restaurant on quite a few evenings and the food we were served was lovely. We would recommend the hotel to anyone but be prepared it will not be like anywhere you have been before it will be quite basic but very clean. As we knew the area very well we did not use Stephen the taxi driver very often but again very helpful and will suggest places to see. He also has a wicked sense of humour. We only saw 1 cockcroach and that flew in over the hotel, but we are pleased to say to the other reviewers that roland is alive and well.We will be going back there again and we hope anyone reading this will give the Senhor Angelo and its very friendly staff a try. Lynn and Terry from Gosport
