“Fantastic”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Visited the hotel during Diwali holidays i.e 2nd November to 6th November. Had a book in advance and got the Suite room. The room was ready on arrival, The bathrooms were neat and clean. The view was something like this "room ke aagay balcony, balcony ke aagay garden, garden ke aagay swimming pool aur pool ke aagar samundar, 24 hour fresh air aur woh bhi free" (Mr. India Movie dialogue). The swimming pool was big and kids enjoyed a lot. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, (might be i am pure veg), and was not satisfied with the choise of menu. but the rest was fantastic. Room service was good and quick. and the best part of the hotel is its back door getting on to the beach. Just step out of the hotel and u r on the beach. I will recommend it to every one and will prefer to stay here in my next visit to goa

Room Tip: The rooms on the Ground floor with the switmming pool view is much better.

We stayed three nights from 2/11/2013 to 05/11/2013. The resort is quite decent. The main advantage of this resort is a great location. The only wall between your resort & beach. In a restaurant shantna is very cooperative in very good nature .We remember shantna even after 8 years in our second visit. Security is very good
. I visit this resort second time after 8 years.. Breakfast / lunch / dinner were good, service was a bit slow. Bikes/Cars can be rented from the hotel gate through security or you can find some good deals nearby if walk outside briefly. Property is banged on the beach. In-house facilities like Gym / Swimming Pool / Pool / Carom / Table Tennis were quite up to the mark. Staff were co-operative. Rooms were clean. They don't have direct sea facing rooms. Sea can be seen from one side of decent sized balconies with garden view of adjacent property in front. So one might be tempted to opt for pool facing rooms. At midnight they clean the drainage, Nearby beaches are vagator/anjuna/baga. Curleys shack at Anjuna is a good nearby hangout place (around 20 mins drive away from hotel). In house spa was only for ladies and accompanying gents were only having choice of head / food massage.

Room Tip: ist floor deluxe room

We have been to Goa three times and it was during our second visit at the beginning of January 2013, that we “found” what I believe is the IDEAL FAMILY/COUPLE HOTEL in Calangute, Goa. It is ideal if you are looking for a holiday that offers affordable accommodation, comfort & cleanliness, great location – want to know more? Read on! Needless to say, we enjoyed the Goan Heritage Hotel so much that we stayed there again in May 2013.

We were taken to The Goan Heritage Hotel by our Tour Guide/Taxi Driver when we asked him to take us to an affordable, 4-5 Star Hotel, within walking distance of the beach and shopping area in Calangute. We had previously stayed in Baga Beach – so this time we decided to stay somewhere close to “Baga” so that we could still go there at night for buzz and activity, however, during the day we wanted a quieter, more relaxed/laid back hotel with a similar “feel” to being in Baga Beach and with all the same amenities and access to outside activities.

Nicholas knew exactly what we wanted and our preference and “taste” in accommodation, beaches etc – he had driven us around Vainguinim, Colva, Candolim and Panjim, etc. for 3 days before we decided to move to another hotel! We arrived at the Goan Heritage Hotel and were welcomed by extremely friendly and helpful staff (who had to show us at least 3 rooms before my husband decided which was “perfect” for me), in the Reception area is modest but effective with the most beautiful tree stump next to the counter inside. When we discovered that The Goan Heritage Hotel is one of the very few hotels in Calangute that have beach access (due to recent laws introduced with new minimum requirements in terms of building distance from the beach - introduced after the Tsunami and the bad Monsoons in India), it was exactly what we wanted and although we had not seen the rest of the hotel, we were sold on staying there. I have to add, that Nicholas had no connections to the hotel – he listened to us whilst driving us around and was “sharp” enough to know what we liked. The great thing is that we gave feedback to Nicholas (who we have seen subsequently and we keep in touch with) that he can definitely recommend The Goan Heritage Hotel to other visitors if they are looking for an “almost” perfect experience.

The Goan Heritage Hotel is situated in a perfect location in Calangute – the grounds of the hotel have a gate leading onto the beach – and it is NOT the Calangute Main Beach, it is a stunning, quieter beach. There are plenty of restaurants (other than at the hotel), convenience stores, coffee shops, travel agents, mini-markets (local Indian and Tibetan wares), clothing shops etc. etc. etc. within walking distance from the hotel, however, if you need to “get a lift” into the Village Centre or Baga Beach, there are plenty of tuk-tuks or tourist taxis waiting to offer their services for a very reasonable fee.
The grounds of the hotel are extremely well looked after and the lawns perfectly manicured. The garden area closest to the beach is vast with a permanent Marquee set up to cater for Sunday lunches and various functions (a lot of weddings take place there), there is a Health Spa/Salon on the premises so you don’t have to walk far after having that awesome massage/pedicure/manicure/facial …….. What more could a person ask for!

The pool was crystal clear, clean and stunning with a pool bar, change rooms, showers and a restaurant on the side. The pool is separated with a “barrier” – the baby pool is on the one side and although not a large pool, it is perfect!

We stayed in a Suite Room and it was a real treat – stunning king size bed, a chaise longue, TV Unit with TV and a DVD Player, dressing table, beautiful bathroom and a little patio which overlooked the side gardens and the other wing of the hotel. We stayed in the ordinary “luxury” rooms during our stay in May, and although the room was not as big as the Suite room, it was very comfortable, clean and spacious enough and totally suitable for a beach holiday. They were busy revamping and doing renovations whilst we were there so the one wing of the hotel (with about 30 rooms) was closed and hence there were not many rooms available). The good thing is that the hotel is going to be even better than it was before and it was not that bad before!
This is definitely a Hotel you have to stay at if you are intending on spending a holiday in Calangute, Goa, India. It really has everything: Good value for money, private access to the beach, a Spa, great restaurants on the property, sparkling pool & kiddies pool, stunning gardens and grounds, super clean and comfortable accommodation/rooms, within walking distance of other fine dining restaurants or Indian Cuisine or a restaurant that makes an amazing hamburger (yip, us South Africans will always find a good burger anywhere!!) and shops etc, friendly and helpful staff (they really had to put up with some heavy negotiations with us!), fast and tasty room service food (ask my son – he tried them many times) and 24 hour security with guards on duty at the main gate and the gate to the beach closed after 6pm.
We have stayed at the Goan Heritage twice ……. we will go back again, not only to see how it looks after the renovations, however, to stay somewhere where we have had 2 excellent stays before. Why stay somewhere new when you know what you are getting from the place you stayed before? IT WAS CERTAINLY AN UNFORGETTABLE AND REALLY ENJOYABLE STAY AT THE GOAN HERITAGE HOTEL ……. Twice!

We stayed three days and two nights from 30/08/2013 to 01/09/2013. The resort is quite decent. They are upgrading one part due to off season. Breakfast / lunch / dinner were good, service was a bit slow. Bikes/Cars can be rented from the hotel gate through security or you can find some good deals nearby if walk outside briefly. Property is bang on beach. In-house facilities like Gym / Swimming Pool / Pool / Carom / Table Tennis were quite upto the mark. Staff was co-operative. Rooms were clean. They don't have direct sea facing rooms. Sea can be seen from one side of decent sized balconies with garden view of adjacent property in front. So one might be tempted to opt for pool facing rooms. At midnight they clean the drainage, so one returning from disco late night may be disturbed with bad smell. In offseason activa scooter rent was INR250/Bike INR400/Jeep INR 2000/Car 1500 which is value for money. No in house entertainment in offseason in hotel and bar/restaurant also closes at around 11pm. Nearby beaches are vagator/anjuna/baga. Curleys shack at Anjuna is a good nearby hangout place (around 20 mins drive away from hotel). In house spa was only for ladies and accompanying gents were only having choice of head / food massage.

I visited this resort in d month of Nov. Weather was very pleasant. One good thing of this hotel is that it's very close to the beach. If u sit in thr lawn you can feel the sound of the thunder waves of sea. Food is good, room are fine n clean. Room service is good. Therefore it's a great place to stay. Near to calangute beach.

We logged in on the 14th Aug morning, a bit apprehensive about how would be the stay going by some of the negative reviews mentioned here. However after the initial fear we found that the place was really homely and it was pleasant stay. The rooms were very decent and took care of all the basic requirements. The toilets were also clean and well maintained. The house keeping staff are very efficient and well mannered. The staff at the restaurant are very sensitive and make you feel at home. The guy at the swimming pool is like a family friend. The access to beach is an excellent plus point and you don't have to go through carrying the sticky sand into your rooms which is a usual head aches when you visit beaches. Good efforts are put to make the breakfast interesting..the masala omelettes was the most fav. Fish curry , fry and rice was very authentic. As someone else has also mentioned in thei review here, the reception staff operate with lot of conservativeness and make you feel that you are not trusted. You may not feel like you are welcomed for a holiday but rather feel you are paying your admission fee while joining a school !!. Its not their fault and its the way the management has asked them to behave for whatever reason they have. If you do not see that view you may feel slightly irritated. Else it would be a very good stay. They are renovating a block and the way they are doing it looks pretty interesting. This place is pretty close to great eatling places near by, also to baga beach and a shopping mall like Newtons and Delfinos...so well connected too..Have fun

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms -305-309 are facing the swimming pool and its a good view

We stayed at the Goan Heritage in the off-season and got it at a relatively good per night price. The food is great, location good and staff courteous. We will definitely go back to this resort. We could hire a vehicle at the resort itself and could go to the private beach without any disturbance. Their sports & fitness room was good fun and since we had the place to ourselves when we went, we enjoyed the resort.
