“Calangute is too busy”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Stayed in Phase 2 in Feb 13. The room was basic, bed extremely uncomfortable but another mattress was given when asked. The waiting on staff appeared to me to be very lazy. Not once during our stay did they come to you, especially when lying by the Pool.
Be extremely carefull when leaving the complex as as soon as you do, the traffic on Candolim Rd is hazardous. Also when walking down to beach rd to the beach my friend and I were exposed to by a young male, scarey. Another guest had her handbag stolen on the same rd by males on motor-bikes whilst waiting for a taxi. I would not return to Calangute or the Osborne. We initially booked the hotel for 4wks but left for south Goa after 2wks. I have been a regular visitor to Goa for 8yrs.

Room Tip: Phase 3 according to other guests was of a better standard.

This was our second consecutive stay at the Osborne. Our first visit last easter was a bit of a culture shock but we were compelled to return this easter (2013) Only regular visitors can explain why. Goa is unhygenic, dirty, basic and too hot but you can't get enough of it. Don't stay at the Osborne for quality of rooms, they are in dire need of update. The pool is ok and the 3 free buffets per week are adequate. Stay at the Osborne for the location, it's situated in between Candolim and Calangute perfect, and only a Rs150 taxi to Baga beach our favourite. Stay at he Osborne for the smiley, happy hard working staff who make the place a totally geniune and welcoming resort. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. But what really makes the place are the waiting staff, special mention must go to Francis and his team, Sandi, Martin, Bippin and Hilary, nothing is too much trouble for them. After an relaxing day at Aggies Shack (Calangute) or Captain's cabin (Baga) or after an exhausting trip (Dudshagar waterfalls), a visit to Panjim or Old Goa a smile always welcomes you back to the Hotel. Try Soumyens Kitchen (Michelin star food at Greasy Joe prices) Souza Lobo, Over the Flames or the Redonda all come highly recommended. Decades on a Monday night is a must for a superb meal and entertainment. By the way we went on the Golden Triangle trip. If you are thinking about it pre book everything before you get there you'll save a lot of money. There are a number of flights from Goa to Delhi. (GoAir, SpiceJet or IndiGo) I recommend www.Ziptrips.in to book the Delhi-Agra-Jaipur trip they were awesome. Can't wait to book for next year.

Just returned from our second stay at Osborne over easter and once again had an amazing time
It started with the warm welcome we received from all the staff who seemed to remember us from last year. We were given rooms next door on third floor b block in phase 2 and we weren't disappointed
They were basic but clean and we had the same lovely room boys .It felt like we'd never been away. The bar staff are fantastic especially Sandy, , Martin, Bipin etc nothing is too much trouble. It is the staff that make this place and ensure people return year after year
The food was excellent and we could have had 3 free buffets per person per week
Unfortunately there are just too many outstanding places to eat so we couldn't fit them in. Breakfast is just toast and jam but is always served with a smile .
The hotel is handy for the beach, shops and places to eat but if you want to venture further afield the taxi drivers are helpful and cheap.
We had a couple of nights in agonda which was lovely but too quiet for us, and we went to the waterfalls and little vagator beach and
spent many happy hours at Aggies and the captains beach shacks.
We also met some fabulous people:Russell , ,Noreen, Nick, Sam and Jeanette and the two Steves, Mark and Paul . The hotel has such a friendly atmosphere .We had some fantastic meals too especially Chef Souymens , Over the Flames, Souza Lobo, Redonda and Decades to mention a few.
We love the Osborne and will definately be going back, , it's not posh but clean and with the best staff who ensure you have a great time. What more can you ask for.

A nice and friendly hotel with great extras (3 meals a week) even when it was a B&B, the pool was dirty but in Goa do you really want to be sat by a pool all day?

Perfect location and free aircon is always a plus!

Stayed at the Osborne Hotel a few weeks back..in March.
I found the place to be very cozy and comfortable. It was not a Hilton...but met our needs.

I found that being nice and polite to the staff there meant that they would be exceptionally friendly and facilitating in all my requests. This is true from booking reservations through to departure.

The meals were good...did not have to worry about hygiene and they tasted pretty decent, especially considering the price.

These days, its pretty hard to find a nice place which has friendly staff, is comfortable and also economical. My habit is to stick with places like this, where I know i won't get disappointed when I return.

just returned from our third holiday staying at the osborne. Excellent hotel for the money you get what you pay for in goa and the osborne is well worth it, the food is lovely, location is ideal and the staff cant do enough for you especially in phase one raj and the boys are brilliant also the room and security boys. What the osborne needs is wi fi and a larger television in phase one. Will be returning next year as long as the visa price dosent increase anymore.

Room Tip: Stay in phase one
