except you can't really call it a shack it's more like a rather fab restaurant that you can go to in your bathing costume and sarong. The food is fresh and different...and it has a wonderful laid back feeling. It also has the best beach loos i've ever been too and a great shower. You can spend a whole day here relaxing and people watching. The restaurant at the related hotel is also fabulous for an evening meal.

If we had stumbled on this place earlier on our trip, we'd have been there more than once.
We went for lunch and spent the rest of the day there.
They have great food and a friendly staff in a super chill felling modern spot.
NO peddlers but you need action walk 20 steps towards the water.

Head to the beach via Holiday Road and take a right when get to the beach. It's not very far and it sets way back from the shacks so it's easy to miss.

We found out about this place when speaking to a couple we met at a different beach shack. I had heard of the Pousada name and knew of the related hotel Pousada Tauma. We hunted this place down one day on Calangute beach. Although it is set back further and slightly elevated in relation to other shacks, the tall white flag with Pousada By The Beach in red lettering is the obvious steer point. This really is a piece of heaven on the beach! Beautifully kept surroundings, high quality sun loungers and immaculate and stylish toilets.

We spent three days here during our stay and it could almost become a habit. The peace and tranquillity was unsurpassed! It was also full of people who wanted the same as us and I would suggest it was or should be a child free environment!!

If you go in the sea, then they have a really handy shower you can use at the side of the toilet, just to remove that salty film, before sitting down and almost devouring the menu itself.

We opted for vegetable xacuti and prawn curry. These dishes were fabulous and a credit to the chef, who I believe is called Kevin. Later in the day we tried a Goan desert called bibinca and washed down with some delicious Lassi drinks.

One highlight is the resident dog, a gracious Labrador called Biscuit. She is not one to hassle you either, so don'e be put off if you are not a dog lover, although she did make a beeline for us once she smelled the bibinca.

The way this place operates is a 1500 rupee sunbed charge for two persons. So if you don't eat or drink then that is what you pay for a full day here. (opens 11am to 7pm) If you do eat and drink during the day then this goes towards your 1500 rupees, and obviously if you go over that, then you pay that amount.

For me, this works well as it keeps the place full of those who are going to respect the surroundings and want good quality time. We met Neville the owner on our last day and he is a real gentleman. I had been so intrigued by his hotel (Pousada Tauma) Calangute that he invited us over at the end out our day to have a look round. I must say, it was very impressive and imaginative; it is a treasure to Neville's ambition.

We will definitely return here but will not tell too many about it!

Located on the quiet bardez beach, the USP of this place it's a great location by the beach, offering a beautiful view around sunset. It's quite place, with a rustic feel to it to spend a quite afternoon lying on a beach with the mercy of not being plagued by countless vendors every second as one finds in goa. Not easy to find, but u can call them and the owner will easily direct u and if u arre on the beach just walk down from baga or calungate towards bardez.

The owner Neville, is pretty attentive, helpful and ensures that u have a great experience by helping u with the menu and food selection, service is prompt and finger food they serve is good.

Had fresh orange juice which was good, and chicken xacuti curry with rice, though the curry was great with a good balance, it was not the authentic goan taste that I was looking for, which Neville explained was because they altered the original taste to make it taste friendly for tourists who are not used to the goan spicy curry. Had dodol with ice -cream for dessert, a local goan sweet dish made from molasses, jaggery and coconut milk, and it was a delicious dessert, neither to sweet nor too overwhelming, just perfect with the ice-cream.

Overall a great place to go to if u are looking to spend a quiet late afternoon, being laid back and enjoying a nice siesta on the beach with good food.

We visited La Pousada on the beach at least 3 times during our stay at Coco Shambhala villas, for lunch and general R&R. After walking through some "less attractive" beach bars & shacks to find this, we were delighted to walk through the gates to find a beautifully landscaped garden (great statues and planting), ample sunbeds, shade and sun to choice for hire, great service, and super food for lunch time eats. We had a number of curries and pasta dishes, and all were excellent. The service is really good- fast and efficient, it's all spotlessly clean, and it's simply a great place to enjoy the beach (which is quiet in the immediate location of La Pousada)- and also as a base for a beach walk before retreating to the haven of this restaurant. We had previously made the longer journey to the more tranquil Morbim? beach to avoid the hoi polloi so it was great to find that you can find tranquility closer to hand. All staff very pleasant, and Neville the owner and Biscuit (the very well behaved dog) both add to the charm and character. Highly recommended, (though hope it stays sufficiently hidden to keep its charm!)
