We stayed at Baga Villa from 26th January 2014 for 2 weeks. We were a party of four adults, staying in 2 double rooms and we were warmly welcomed upon our arrival by Heidi, despite it being 5.30am. We were even waived off on our departure (although after midnight) with Heidi being on hand to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Our rooms were very clean and comfortable and were cleaned (upon our request) to a very high standard indeed.

We all enjoyed our freshly cooked breakfasts every morning. Delicious omelettes, or any type of eggs : fried , boiled, scrambled or even masala scrambled eggs. There was also pancakes, cereal etc available if we wanted it. Always served with plenty of toast and coffee or tea (the chai tea was superb). The staff were always polite, friendly and helpful.

We also asked for some laundry to be done, taxis to be booked, which again, nothing was ever too much trouble. What made our stay so special was the kindness that was shown to us on one of our birthdays during our stay. Heidi arranged a beautiful bouquet of flowers at breakfast and she also even gave us a fabulous birthday cake! It was certainly a birthday to remember!

We booked this stay direct via e-mail many months before and we always received prompt and informative replies whenever we sent an e-mail or had a question. We were delighted with our choice of hotel, as it was excellent value for money and a fantastic base for our beach holiday.

We would not hesitate coming back to Baga Villa (and in fact are already planning our next visit). We have stayed in larger, resort type hotels in Goa before, but we much preferred the relaxed atmosphere and friendy, personal service provided by Heidi, Jimi and their team.

Thank you to everyone at Baga Villa for a fantastic stay, we hope to see you all again next year!

Room Tip: Only having 5 rooms in total, our 2 were on first floor and were perfectly adequate and always quiet...

I stayed at Baga Villa for the second time between Jan 13th and 15th, 2014, and must say that i wasn't as satisfied as my previous visit in Sept 2013.
When we checked in, we were given room 202, which looked like any other room, but had a malfunctioning toilet seat. The seat was half outside and half inside (almost), and the lid would never stand back when we're seated. The dirty thing kept falling on our back as we sat, and gave us very uncomfortable moments.
I expected that the management would be kind enough to get the toilet seat fixed or atleast change our room, but to my surprise, they were not willing to do anything about it. Although there were other rooms free, they refused to give us any of those. Later we see some foreigners check in to those rooms. So it surely appeared as though the defective room was reserved for the lesser mortals like we Indians.
What was more surprising is that even though Jim and Heidi initially spoke as though they'd be interested in rectifying it, their assistant Sunny bluntly refused saying 'it cant be done'. And come to think of it, he's the one who is in-charge of maintenance of this villa!
The beds have started creaking as well, and that's also a point of discomfort when you are turning around in your bed at night. If the noise is loud enough to awaken your partner, then there is a problem.
Another problem with the place is the little or no mobile signals that once experiences. We had an Airtel sim and a Vodafone and we usually expect Airtel to give u better reception than the others. But this time, i just didnt any mobile signal indoors, and the little i got outdoors was no good to connect to the internet. But, Vodafone seemed to have decent signals.

In short, i'm not saying you should not stay at Baga Villa. You can stay there if you don't get Room no.202, dont want mobile signals, and are willing to put up with noisy beds.

Room Tip: Do not choose room 202

Sandeep

Thanks for your review, we appreciate both positive and negative feed back, as it gives us a chance to grow and better improve our services.

Just a few points to clarify

1) We are subject to what is available in Goa. When I lived in England, I could walk into Homebase or any DIY Mega Store and purchase Toilet seats ranging from £9.99 to £99.Sadly, in Goa, there seems to be very few options. There seem to be the commercial type or the more expensive Home use types, which obviously cannot be used in our commercial premises as there is no guarantee how various individuals would use them. Besides this, Sunny, Heidi and Myself inspected the toilet, it was not dirty, Sunny adjusted the seat and made sure that the cover was not falling down and your toilet was cleaned every day. Besides we even bought a new spray pipe which we replaced, which you had complained about as well, but have not mentioned in your review.

2) You have mentioned that there were other rooms free. January is still a busy month and we are hardly ever empty during this month. The rooms that you assume were vacant, were actually booked by European customers who had paid for them, locked them, left their bags in there and one couple had gone to South Goa and another Single Gentleman had gone to Humpi. The 'foreigners' that you have mentioned were these people who had checked in before you, gone on their excursions, having paid for their rooms and had returned. To us a customer is a customer regardless of Nationality

I am sorry to say but it does make me wonder if the complaints about toilet seats were just your way of trying to be up-graded to the Family room in which you and your friends had stayed in the last time you were here. The Family room is more expensive than a standard room and in any case was not available

You have failed to mention that we had also given you a good Discount, as when I first emailed you, I copied and pasted our official website cost and we discounted off those rates.

In closing, I would just like to say that in a perfect world, it would be nice to pay budget prices and get Five Star standards in return

Thank You

Stayed from 8th to 12th Jan, with family. Though agoda wrongly booked 3, we were 4 and while agoda went in loop to correct n reply, Jimmy was warm n prompt to extend welcome, no extra charges for 2nd child, not even for breakfast.

Jimmy & Heidi are a warm n hardworking couple giving in their very best to this enterprise. And when owner is working results are what they are.

Location is not prime view, but in center n close to both beaches (baga & calangute) at about 5-7 mts walking distance, very close to market. Spotless clean room n toilets, in fact it was first hotel where even we of our own kept shoes outside the room though not accustomed to move without shoes, as all others were doing, though not asked for, great job Heidi, your hard work.

We only had Breakfast at hotel being out rest of the day. Breakfast time for us was not a hotel experience, but a warm hospitality experience that was unique, we all had different options, shared and all variety was excellent and sufficient. Warmth extended at breakfast was more valuable, it was like being with someone your own, great job ! Don't remember any other hotel charging me lesser than consumed and though i pointed and would surely pay, lady was reluctant and didn't charge.

Talking to both of them felt very nice, and we would surely treasure this experience and recommend very strongly.

You do have better options in terms of sheer size, view, location, facilities ....... but try to find owners doing actively all jobs to deliver happiness and great staying experience.

In terms of warmth, hospitality and honesty i would not even compare them with anybody else at least at this location. We wish them the very best and are sure they will earn respect for good work they do.

Room Tip: We stayed in 201, cross ventillation, coco nut trees .... fresh air in abundance is what we got, get...

This was the experience of a lifetime. My wife and I stayed at the villa for three weeks. The package included breakfast which consisted of a versatile menu of Goan and European dishes such as Omelettes, Poha. Goan scrambled egg, toasted cheese and more. All dishes are freshly prepared to order. The rooms are comfortable and clean and very affordable. The villa is conveniently within easy walking distance to the superb Baga beach. The hosts, Jimmy and Heidi Goode are the kindest and best to be found anywhere in the world and have left us with a humble urge to reciprocate their hospitality should they ever visit South Africa. We recommend the Baga Villa unconditionally.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent value for money.

It was a wise decision to choose this hotel. We had an amazing experience while staying there. Starting from the approach of hotel till the rooms quality... everything was good. The hotel is well connected to the main market of Baga and Calangute. Nice, clean cozy rooms. Breakfast was good and we also had the option of having home cooked food. The hotel owner Heidi and Jimmy was very hospitable. Overall a very homely atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel for the people staying near Calangute and Baga.
