The resort is a old traditional portuguese style building, however the look, ambiance looks modern..Multiple entrance to the resort makes it simple & easy staying there. The pool, rooms, restaurant, reception is clean, net & always well maintained. The best was the food, tried various dishes & are delicious. Not much expensive & therefore, a sure place to stay for couple or family.

The hotel appears to be very nice, in an odd run down area, on a little road leading to the beach. But it is quiet around. Plus a taxi rank is right outside the gates. As with all places in India, a nice chap takes the effort out of moving your suitcase around yourself and are more than happy with a little tip for this service.

When we were checking in, there was a lot of discussion, before the lady offered us an upgrade to a "premium deluxe" room for an extra charge (rupee 500 per night). We didn't feel like paying that, so after some more frantic discussions we were offered a free upgrade for our first night, but we'd have to move at 12 noon the next day. (so obviously our room wasn't ready, even though we arrived around 15:45). No great shakes, we took them up on their offer. So we were led to a room which had a living room area off the ground floor patio outside, with a sofa, TV and minibar. Then the spacious bedroom with a big bed, TV, chaise longue. On from the bedroom was a dressing room with wardrobes and finally leading into the bathroom. Only slight problem... The only room with a window was the bathroom, and as the extract fan is in that window, there was virtually no natural light in the bathroom and none in the other rooms.

Anyway, outside was the pool and bar etc... So we got on with things. The following morning we were requested to be out of the room by 12. Only.... no room was available for us until 13:00! We were taken to the room in which we stayed for the rest of our visit. Delux rooms are smaller. So a balcony, bathroom, bedroom including wardrobes, TV mini bar and a small sofa at the end of the bed. The view from the balcony was interesting. Brick wall with broken glass cemented into the top, topped off with barbed wire, overlooking what seems to be wasteland with a couple of palm trees. I believe the security was to keep cheeky rhesus monkeys out.

Where the hotel let itself down was the quality of its fixtures in this room. One morning whilst getting ready, my wife bumped into the lampshade on the bed side table whilst trying to pick up her ear plugs. The lampshade toppled, and as the lamp holder was already broken the lamp shade frame crossed the 2 prongs in the lamp holder, which stared arcing and blowing a hole in the metal of the frame. A seriously dangerous item. First and only time we ever got a "sorry" in India for poor service, however, there seemed little concern that their fittings were outright dangerous. We got a new lamp and that was about it.

The pool is nice. We were there during the height of tourist time for Indian nationals. Which is where another issue came. There seems to be an acceptance that spitting is a fine thing to do, but I sat and watched 2 families break all of the pool rules and topping it off by spitting in the pool. All to be completely unchallenged by the pool monitor sat in his chair watching it all. So that totally ended our enjoyment of the pool!

The saving grace of the hotel is the bar and restaurant. The staff are great, the food is great, and the prices are incredibly good. It is open sided and looks onto the pool and the central part of the complex. There is a viewing window into part of the kitchen so you can watch the chefs work on the tandoor oven.

The final pièce de résistance was the nagging phone calls to our room about checking out on time. Which was an interesting touch considering the flexibility we'd shown to our rooms not be available on time!
