I, Deepak Banerjee and my wife have been frequent visitors to this property since 2007.

Back then on our first visit we were shocked by the shabby and unkempt look of this Taj hotel. The food was terrible to say the least. We being vegetarians were dissapointed with the tasteless and badly cooked dishes that were served in the buffet the very first night. We thought coming to this property was a BIG mistake specially since we had been loyal and satisfied patrons of a well known 5 star property in Panjim for quite a few years.

Right then a smart young gentleman passed by and realizing that we were visibly disturbed came to our table and tried to pacify us. I did lose my temper and almost prepared to checkout the next morning. This gentleman whose name is Savio Fernandes promised us that he would try to set up a good breakfast for us the next morning. Very skeptical, we tried passing the night in our alloted room that had dusty tables and lamp shades.

Next moring ..... Surprise. A fantastic layout of edible breakfast topped with excellent personalised service was a shock in the good sense !! Dusing our 3 day stay the experience only got better. We left the property very refreshed and thanked Mr. Savio for making this happen.

That was August 2007.

Ever since we have been coming back to Exotica every few months. In 2009 a General Manager by the name of Mr.Gaurav Pokhriyal took charge and began a ground up transformation of this hotel. The cleanliness and hygiene standards of the hotel were markedly improved while the huge gardens began to have a very manicured look flush with a variety of flowering plants. The hotel finally began to come into being. For the excellent garden management all over the property the credit should go to Mr. Patil the horticulturist. Rooms too looked better maintained. The restaurants finally had an inviting look. Breakfast at the Eugenia had an excellent spread catering even to the special needs of the health concious. The housekeeping remembers the personal preferences of each guest. On every arrival the room is kept ready as per our preference.

Lets say quality had finally arrived !!

Sometime in 2010 if I remember right, Mr. Saleem Yousuff took charge as the new General Manager of this hotel. Then began a tireless effort by him and his team to take this property to new heights. Every time we visited, we were awestruck to see the wonderful improvements that had been achieved in such a short time. Even the toilets at the beach end had been spruced up with a regular clean-up all day.

I can safely say that Mr. Yousuff with his tireless effort along with his team of workaholic managers have brought this property to its pinacle of perfection and we often stare in disbelief if this were an illusion !!

Should you plan to visit this hotel I would like to name a few from Mr. Yousuff's team who would always be there to make sure you have a fantastic holiday :
Mr. Souvik Bhattacharya, the resident manager,
Mr. Siddharth Jain,
Mr. Manoj Mishra, the Food and Beverage manager ( someone you must meet )
Ms. Indira, Mr. Mantosh, Mr. Savio, Mr. Abhishek, Mr. Noor, Ms. Lourecina,
Chef Bhaskar, Chef Dwipen, Chef Ravi,
Mr. Krishna, Mr. Rituraj, Mr. Tarun, Mr. Narayandas and all the staff of the Front-office, the Eugenia , the Adega Bar and Housekeeping.

We have made Taj Exotica our second home and enjoy the fantastic experience every time we visit.

Room Tip: All the rooms are awesome and theservice is top-notch. We normally prefer the deluxe rooms in the ma...

We stayed here for a week following a long tour round Rajasthan. Its a great spacious hotel, loads to do (Yoga (top lady Yoga Guru), swimming, football, cricket, cycling etc), our room (we had a villa) was spacious, spotless and homely. Food (breakfast is a 5star feast), drinks (G&T's at the beach bar at sunset) and service (electric buggy ride home if you need it) were outstanding throughout - we had a couple of little problems during our stay and the way the management helped us/dealt with them was excellent.

They even packed us up with coffee and breakfast when we left. Love it. Well done all.

Room Tip: We had a villa at the south of the property - on a couple of occassions it was a bit noisy early ev...

This was my first stay at at Taj Hotel in India. We spent a couple of days at the luxury suite. The hotel and setting are absolutely beautiful, very elegant and yet comfortable. The gardens are nicely groomed. The suite is tastefully decorated and VERY comfortable. We had a basket of fresh fruit brought in our room on each day as well as some chocolates. The amenities are what you would expect at a five star hotel. The bathroom was great and my little kids enjoyed the bathtub (jacuzzi). The staff were very attentive, nice, and professional. You truly feel special the way they greet you and offer help. In fact, my mom had an acute medical episode during the night and housekeeping was very responsive as to send someone to pick up the necessary medicine from a pharmacy 40 minutes away. I was informed of where people were a few times and was not charged for their trip. My children loved the children's club (Tex). The swimming pool was very nice and the walk at the beach not bad - you have to cross the golf course. Because of my picky eaters we only tried the Italian restaurant. The food was excellent. I only have good things to say about this hotel. The downside, it is more expensive than other hotels, but in this case, be assured that you will get what you pay for. I would be back in a heart beat.

Room Tip: The luxury suite with sea view is really nice.

June 2011 : I was here for friend's wedding.

The property is spread over acres of Land. The rooms are scattered all over the resort; mainly cottage accommodations. However, the Golf Carts pick you and drop you from any part of the Hotel to the other and the entire system is really well co-ordinated and efficient.

Amazing pool. You would love to grab a drink from the Bar beside it and sit on the sun beds and enjoy the breeze and the sun beside the pool. However, no sunk in pool bar.

The rooms are big and spacious. The first floor rooms come with a balcony overlooking the sea and the greens. You will love the breeze over a cup of coffee in the morning on the balcony facing the sea.

We ordered for breakfast in our room and it was delicious.

I visited in the month of June, it was an off season time due to the monsoons. The beach was closed but looked inviting. However, since the resort is located in South Goa, there is nothing much to do around the property. So, if you are looking for some loner time on the pristine beach, this is the kind of place you would love to be in away from the Buzz.

Room Tip: If you have money to shed, definitely go in for Pool Villas.

The Taj Exotica is a wonderful destination in Goa. The grounds are well-kept, rooms are relatively quiet, service is outstanding and the beach is one of the nicest anywhere, with very soft sand and no rocks. There are plenty of activities for kids -- swimming, bike riding, pizza making, crafts, games.

The breakfasts are amazing! The buffet includes a wide variety of Indian and international dishes, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The chefs can make dosas, uttapams, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, etc. to order.

I particularly recommend the Goan restaurant (Alegria) for lunch or dinner. An outdoor dinner buffet on Friday night was the highlight of our stay. The various seafood dishes were incredibly delicious. We were entertained by folk musicians and dancers, and the evening included a cooking demonstration by Chef Urbano de Rego, who should probably be classified a national treasure. He's been working for Taj Hotels for over 40 years. Go try his cooking before he retires!

The one negative -- and this is true of so many hotels -- is that the beds are too stiff. Some people like hard beds; if you are one of them, you'll like these. I, on the other hand, sleep better on memory foam.

Service was top-notch, which is what I have come to expect from Taj resorts. All in all, our stay at the Taj Exotica was a great holiday.
