Stayed in the Taj Exotica for the last 3 weeks and I have to say it was so lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The food was amazing; I am allergic to wheat so the chef made me gluten free bread each morning which was delicious. Rituraj and Kiran serving in the Eugenia restaurant for breakfast were outstanding, .
The rooms are very comfortable, we had a pool villa for the first week which was very spacious and quiet although I think we used the pool twice in the whole week, alright for somone who wants to stay in their room. Then we moved in to our room in the main wing of the hotel, it was very spacious with a lovely sea view and overlooking the pond where there are Geese and Kingfishers.
All areas of this hotel are spotless and everywhere you go all you see are people cleaning or painting, so the hotel is shown at it's best at all times.
Ganesh, Kensing and the boys at the pool are really friendly and Sonali at the Lobster Shack is a great asset to the Taj Group.
There are a few shacks on the beautiful white sand beach area in front of Taj where you can get a nice meal or drink as eating and drinking at the hotel can work out very expensive. This area of South Goa is very very quite compared to the North where we used to stay although I would definitely return for another relaxing and pampering holiday.

We stayed at the Taj for 2 weeks in February 2013 and found it to be excellent in most respects.
Our garden room was large, very clean and the staff were all very attentive. Our main gripes were 1) In a hotel of this calibre you should not have to pay extra for wi-fi (quite expensive as well)
2) 10 umbrellas and 20 sunbeds on the beach is nowhere near enough, unless you are prepared to get up at 6am you can't get one, however 200 yards down the beach is Joe Conns beach shack where you can have a sunbed all day for the price of a drink ( which were less than half the price, and lovely staff too)
3) Unless you want to pay a lot don't eat in the hotel, the food is good but very expensive, we found the Sun and Moon nearby to be very good and cheap
4)Probably not the fault of the hotel but something needs to be done about the packs of wild dogs on the beach, they didn't affect us, apart from fouling the beach, but we heard a couple of horror stories about people being attacked, mainly at night

Stayed at the Taj Exotica in January, we had a lovely relaxing time. It is a 5 star holiday resort hotel with much to see and do if you want. Our room overlooked the lovely gardens & the sea. The choice of food for breakfast was extensive & very good, we chose bed & breakfast giving us the option to eat either in the hotel or the shacks on the beach, we found either option very good. The adjacent beach is great for either bathing / swimming, walks & choice of shacks for food & drink.
Small downside was the number of Russians & the way they behave staying at the hotel, but this would not stop us returning

Went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal & other places of interest.

Stayed at the Taj Exotica in Goa and had a lovely relaxing time. It was a typical 5 star holiday resort hotel. We had a suite overlooking the wonderful gardens at the hotel. The lobster shack was a delight to eat at! there are shacks along the beach too which at first site doesnt look good but the food is absolutely fantastic. Fresh fish, lobster, chicken tandoori (only £3.00) which included a salad and a beer! the weather was a perfect temperature and we went on the boat to see the dolphins. Luckily we saw them so made my holiday. Only problem with the hotel was there were loads of Russians staying and there were only english signs telling people about no diving etc. therefore the russians brought their hired bikes into breakfast, children jumping in the pool etc etc.The staff tried to tell them not to do things but they couldnt understand or pretended not to understand! My recommendation would be to have some signs in Russian. Staff were very friendly and there were some lovely restaurants to eat at just along from the hotel. Breakfast was slow and a bit like a canteen.

My husband and I were due to spend 5 days in Goa at the Leela Palace. On arrival we knew we had arrived at a poor choice. We swiftly changed our reservation to the amazing Taj Exotica. we had the most amazing suite room 212 which was extremely spacious overlooking the see. every member of staff is like a family member and exceptionally well trained. they have the ability to make you feel very special. We didn't want or need anything at all and we can't thank the whole staff for their kindness within the realms of professionalism enough for everything they did for us. The hotel's decor is not the latest but it is really maintained to the most exceptional standard. There is one downside in Goa at the moment. The local government have prevented every establishment putting more than 10 beds on the beach. However we still managed to get a bed on the beach every day.

Room Tip: Take a room overlooking the sea and watch the sun set

One week in April 2012. I was a first contact with Taj and Goa. I we had a great time. I the rooms were clean and spacious, permanent ac, nice jacuzzi....

The outside facilities were impressive, perfect pool, and green lawns, palm trees for some shadow... Simply delightful.

The food was the main low point - highly overpriced and not that great. Other low point was the overpriced taxi tours... A taxi outside is much, but much cheaper...

Unfortunately this hotel, and as many resorts is designed to trap the tourists and inside the resort - on not allowing the people to explore a little bit of Goa by themselves (which in India can also be seen as a positive side).

Needed improvements:
-refresh the hotel (although always clean and maintained) it looks sticked in the 90s.
-rethink the food price strategy (you could lots of guests having dinner and lunch in the beach shacks)
-rethink the taxi strategy (is simply not fair for the guests...)
