This property spreading over 59 acres of land is such a vast expanse, your feet will tire out but the property wont end.
Pristine atmosphere, classic lawns, vast ocean and serenity all around you
Just perfect for a quiet stay in a five star property. The approach to the hotel and lobby is beautiful and scenic. Buggy services available to take you from one point to another, beautiful grounds and lawns, well kept rooms and wonderful food

We were there last year in the month of August for 5D4N. The trip to Goa was long overdue, and we (myself, my wife and our 3 year old son) all were quite happy about the fact the trip finally happened. We opted for flights with lowest travel time between Goa and Kolkata (though the flight stops at Mumbai briefly) and reached there at around 1 pm. From the moment we came across their arrival assistance staff at the Goa airport till the time we were back at the airport (for departure), everything was just perfect. I have had the privilege of staying in some of the exotic locales around Europe and U.S. (my wife being a beach person, and that leaves a married man with hardly any options), and I can say that this experience at Taj Exotica is amongst the 3 most memorable holidays of my life so far. The ambience, accomodation, food, entertainment, everything seemed to be as per Taj's standards. However, what I was really impressed with was their "service-with-a-genuine-smile" attitude. Everyone from the staff that I came across made me feel extremely comfortable (before the trip, I was very apprehensive as we were travelling with a kid, who already has a mind of his own)...the icing on the cake was the fact that even our son enjoyed his stay immensely...even now (its been almost 5 months since we went there), he keeps pestering me to take him back there once more. The only blip that we faced was with the plumbing in the bathroom (i.e. the bath tub connections), which was taken care of promptly. Though we couldnt enjoy the water sports facilities (as we went during a rather off-peak season), we plan to time our next visit in such a way so that we dont miss out that aspect. So much so, in spite of being in Goa for 5 days, we didnt go on a sightseeing per se.....didnt even step out of the Taj campus....gave me a much needed relaxed vacation....
I'd definitely come back soon.....

A Big Thanks to the staff of Taj Exotica for giving us such pleasant memories....

Our visit to Goa came at the end of 3 weeks of travel through the south of India – we were ready to rest and prepare for our long journey home. I should say that our expectations were reasonably high but we were not expecting the Taj “Palace” calibre. We had a Sea View Villa Room which was spacious with a walk out to a patio and plunge pool with sun chairs and an umbrella. The rooms are well equipped but starting to look their age and therefore a bit tired. The first room we were given was located within 25 feet of a large and active construction site – completely unsatisfactory! Thankfully they were able to move us the next day to a room (same category) where we could barely hear the noise so we were able to relax and read by our little pool. That move made the difference between our having a really good stay or a bad end to a wonderful trip! The hotel grounds are well secured, beautiful and very well maintained - it is really pleasant to stroll to the different restaurants and down to the beach. While the property is on the beach, there are not chairs and umbrellas provided by the hotel on the beach - these are available from independent restaurants along the beach if you are interested. The beach is beautiful, unbelievably long and very, very, very clean: so impressive! The hotel/resort reminded me of many “package charter” trips I have taken to Mexico and the Caribbean - many of the other guests at The Taj Exotica (and I am sure at the other hotels in Goa) are able to take advantage of daily charter flights from England and Russia. Taj Exotica is both a couples and family destination; when we were there, children were very well behaved and the resort was very quiet and peaceful. There is a meal plan available but thankfully it is not an “all inclusive” so there was no sign of excess drinking. The guests get up early to “reserve” their preferred sun chair – thankfully we did not have to participate in this daily ritual. There are several restaurants each with a specialized cuisine style but, in trying to please, everything ends up tasting a bit average. The selection of wines was good and they were able to make a ver good dry martini. There are 2 spas (one is ayurvedic) and they are both wonderful and worth trying. In summary, we are glad we went to Goa, we were happy with the hotel (because of the new room) but we will avoid the “Charter” crowd in the future and go elsewhere in India for R&R.

Stayed here for 1 week in November. Staff were friendly and met every need, breakfasts were superb, hotel environment was lovely, facilities were pretty good, rooms were nicely designed but showing their age. The hotel restaurants are lacking in atmosphere in the evenings, although the fish restaurant on the ocean front is an excellent exception.

So, overall pretty good, but that's to be expected for the price.

The only real complaint I would have is that, once inside the hotel, it feels like any other tropical location in the world. This sense is strengthened by the fact that the hotel seems to work to keep you inside the grounds and doesn't really promote the locality. For guests who have travelled a long way to be in Goa, this is a little disappointing.

Having stayed at Taj properties before we had no hesitation in booking the Taj Exotica in Goa. Unfortunately we found it to be a bit of a disappointment. The hotel, although comfortable with all the amenities you would expect, was lacking in character and could have been anywhere in the world. There was no sense of being in India as with other Taj hotels we have stayed in.
We were satisfied with our Luxury room which was clean and well equipped. The common areas and rest rooms were well maintained.
There were five restaurants at the hotel and we tried all of them. The twice weekly themed buffets at Eugenia were very good. The Lobster Shack was a major let down. Food was mediocre, fat chips were actually frozen potato wedges. The other restaurants were fine but nothing special. We had excellent food at the Zumbrai beach shack next door where we spent most of our days.
The Taj is located on a beautiful beach but unfortunately due to a new ruling by the Goan Government there are no sun beds allowed in front of the hotel so you had to get up early to bag one of the few available at the shacks. We also tried the sun beds in the hotel grounds and the poolside staff were very helpful but we preferred the beach.
The entertainment in the restaurants was terrible and there was no escape - karaoke type singers murdering hits of the 80's and 90's; an illusionist, ok for kids but not our thing; the singing cowboys who would serenade at your table would be ok once or twice a week but not every night! It would have been nice to have had some cultural entertainment or a sitar player.
There are lots of sporting activities available: golf, archery, tennis etc. They also lend out bikes to cycle round the grounds (not great when kids decide to ride them round the restaurant at breakfast almost knocking waiters over). This hotel does seem geared more towards families than couples.
In short, I agree with the previous reviewer, you would be comfortable enough here but there are better places to stay.
