“It is the staff that make Taj Exotica so Amazing!”
Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

My partner and I just came back from 6 days, 5 nights at the Taj Exotica.

We stayed in a garden view villa with a plunge pool and it was divine. No detail was left to chance - the room was cleaned as soon as we went to breakfast, and tidied again with the turn own service as we dined in the evening. Towels were left each morning for our pool, fresh fruit arrived daily, and we even received a cake on our last night.

We so needed a quiet time that we didn't leave the resort! My partner played golf and tried the archery, while I read, swam and napped. The plunge pool at the villa was huge but we also swam in the warm Arabian Sea and in the main pool.

The meals were all exquisite. The fresh fish was a treat, and my favourite was the tandoori shrimp - the chef has even emailed the recipe to us.

The staff smiled throughout, rushed around being as helpful as they could, and never said "no". It was really their warm smiles and helpful and positive attitude that made our stay. I would return to the Exotica, but this also makes me anxious to visit the other Taj properties!

Taj Exotica is an elegant hotel in a very wide and very quiet part of Benaulim Beach. It is not a new structure and you can see it looking at some details but at the end it remains a very pleasant resort with a magnificent park where you can walk or be carried through buggies around the beatiful villas.
Rooms are wide, fully equipped, with a big bathroom and a balcony or patio. Enough nice, not outstanding.
The service level is generally good, with some exceptions, but in general there is a strong attention to the customer satisfaction and feedback. If something is really not ok they are ready to offer you any solution to adjust or improve the issue.
There is a number of sunbeds and umbrellas in the swimming pool (the last one nice but not fantastic) and over the beach (but not drectly down on the shore, given the apparent limitation by the public rules to keep the beach free – apparent because other hotels put their private facilities on the beach).
During peak seasons you need to struggle a bit to obtain a sunbed because people came in early morning to occupy the places – this is not so nice for a five star resort.
There are many restaurants in the structure but in my opinion the only one it worths the outstanding cost is the seafood restaurant in front of the beach. It is elegant, quiet and the food is nice. The other ones (I tried an italian ones) are only more expensive than the standard but nothing especial.
Definitely you can stay at Taj Exotica if you like the fine resorts with all amenities but also very quiet. Considering the ratio value for price it is not outstanding, especially in the peak seasons where, just as an observation, it seems to be a russian enclave (in other words 90% of guests are russians).

We just completed a 4 night stay at the Taj Exotica Goa. The hotel / resort is excellent. It is located ~30-40 minutes drive from the airport, and Taj offers free transfers in both directions. The rooms are large and well-appointed. We had a sea-view deluxe room with a king bed, while the kids had a 2-queen version of the same. The rooms have plenty of space, and include decent sitting area, a writing desk, and a well-appointed bathroom with a shower stall and tub. Each room also had a balcony with deck chairs and a coffee table.

The service is excellent but not obtrusive, as is expected from top-of-the-line Taj facilities. The beach is clean and has powdery sand, with good water clarity. There is a private water sports vendor next door, for those who are so inclined, though the prices aren't great.

The food at the hotel was very good. The Goan restaurant (Allegria) was excellent, as was the lobster shack (on the beach). The included breakfast buffet was superb. The Chinese restaurant left a lot to be desired, unfortunately. The food was greasy and bland, so after one meal there, we gave it a pass. Fortunately, the other restaurants more than made up for this shortcoming. Food prices were reasonable ($90 / meal for 4 of us, including drinks, etc.)

The hotel was fully booked, but the property is large enough that we didn't feel crowded at all. There are also kid entertainment facilities (mainly targeted at younger kids; not so good for kids >8 years of age; I assume Taj guesses that they'll spend most of their time at the beach or at the very nice pool). There is a small 9-hole golf course and a pitch-and-putt area, as well as tennis, cricket, archery, and biking.

Internet isn't free, and speeds are not great -- they could certainly improve this.

Overall, an excellent hotel for families. I wouldn't pick it as a romantic getaway, since it is full of tourists with kids. However, this was a superb family vacation and I would certainly go back again.

During a stay in Goa spend 3 nights at the Taj Exotica hotel.
It was a very nice experience.
The hotel is located on a huge estate having a 'private' beach and huge lawn.
This makes that you never have the impression that the place is very crowded.

Our room was in one of the 'bungalows' which give us good privacy.
Access to the lawn area and the beach was great. It was quite a walk to get to the centrally located central functions of the hotel.

The hotel is not recent. This does on one hand add to the charm of the place but does on the other hand obviously show in a number of aspects (primarily room furniture and bathroom).

The main pool is very big and it's easy to find a stretcher and quiet place. Pool service was pretty good as was the lunch at the pool.

Breakfast was adequate as was the service associated with it.

Dinner in the south indian restaurant was nice - food absolutely nice - service good.

I had visited this property with my husband as a part of a business trip. As I had visited the Taj Fort Aguda property earlier, my expectations were high and sure was looking forward to this trip. This property is about 40 minutes from the Panaji airport in South Goa.

If you are looking for a quite place, disconnected from the madding crowd, this place should serve the purpose.

Food - Good, touch boring options for vegetarians. Desserts were excellent
Bar - Not too great, felt other properties have had much better options
Customer Service - Very good, as with all other Taj Properties
Entertainment - Nearly zero, very negliable
Spa - The Jive spa was pretty good, though felt that the spa off campus was better priced for the same value
Beach - Excellent for a good walk or jog

Room Tip: Pick the rooms with the plunge pool facing the beach

Called this hotel to inquire about the New Year's party. The call was transferred between desks many times back and forth. None seemed to either have the information, or were not interested in the business with us or whatever. Never expected such a service from the Taj group of hotels. How can one expect a good service on the site? Hopefully, this is one off incidence.
