This a great hotel in a great location and through no fault of the hotel has become a victim of local politics, which I hasten to add is not unusual of Goan Tourism.
It has been brought to my attention that only 5 yes 5 sun beds are allowed on the beach and this also applies to each shack. With at least 100,000 people expected to visit Goa this coming season I am at a loss to understand why this has been passed by local government and POLICE...
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with amenities great for India.... PLEASE GOAN TOURISM sought this problem before it effects well needed capital being spent at other world wide destinations who will be welcomed with open arms especially during this world wide recession.

We spent 3 nights over diwali at the Taj Exotica. It was a wonderful, luxurious and totally relaxing holiday. The architecture of the resort is beautiful and gracious. The food is very good, especially the Italian restaurant. But the best of all if the personalized warm service by all the personnel there- courteous and warm, without being overly obsequious. I love the baby sitting services they offer totally free of charge- definitely manna for mothers !!
We did not even feel the need or desire to leave the hotel and explore the rest of Goa....We did have dinner at Joeconns just outside the resort, though. Though the food there was very good, the service was painfully slow.

Taj Exotica is definitely a must do !!

Room Tip: I stayed in room 103 - wonderful location with a view of the sea and a hammock just outside

This a beautiful hotel, with great service - as good as it gets with the Taj. You will feel totally pampered. The chefs go out of their way to satisfy and every staff member is attentive. Great property as well.

Room Tip: Find a cottage or a room on the first floor.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and was impressed by the quality of amenities and the great customer service.
Not cheap, but good quality to price ratio.
Several restaurants, with a wide range of cuisines; free bike rentals; family and kids pools; par 3 golf course at 500 rupees an hour including club rental; free movie rental; good fitness facility.

Room Tip: Garden rooms have private pools, which are nice to lounge around, but for swimming these are too sma...

This was my second trip to Goa and I stayed in this amazing property. Taj Exotica boasts of a great property! Amazing green lawns and most important the beach! Clean and safe beach was what I really wanted. The swimming pool was good and I really had a nice time using the jacuzzi too! I was there on the property for the maximum time as I had planned this vacation to be more of a relaxing trip. Food was great and had the typical goan taste! Apart from all this they had a lot of activities for small kids too. Staff was great and helpful. I had a peaceful and amazing holiday.

We just got back from a 7 day stay at the Taj Exotica having been to Goa twice before and stayed in the North we decided to visit a new area in the South.

Overall a fantastic stay and I will cover the highlights in detail after I make a few observations on the slight negatives.

Firstly we arrived very early hours and the hotel had sent a car to the airport as we were 4 (2 adults and 2 children) we had 3 suitcases. The car sent was a small Hyundai or similar, room for 3 + driver and 1 case. Another taxi was called to take the bags and we squeezed in the car sent. Not major but at 0400hrs not particularly good either.

Secondly, as others have noted the rooms are worn and in need of a refit if you make comparisons to other 5 star luxury resorts. Don't get me wrong they are spotlessly clean and very well kept but you can see their age is showing.

Thirdly (and finally) the 2 storey rooms can be a bit noisy as people move chairs around and walk in shoes you can hear quite clearly and in the middle of the night if guests arrive upstairs you will be disturbed. Appreciate this point is being very picky but it could be a cause of complaint if you are not tolerant to noise in your room.

Now and the best part, I can only offer praise for the staff and experience overall. The arrival at the hotel was one of the best we have ever received, even at 0500hrs the member of staff dealing with our arrival was totally connected with us. I felt a bit embarrassed that I could not be as friendly as I normally would be owing to my lack of sleep and general not wanting to engage as I was exhausted. Exceptional welcome and a wonderful ambiance in the lobby and entrance areas.

The grounds are out of this world and very large but despite the size there is not a square foot that is unkept or overgrown. This really adds to the enjoyment of the stay, the walks from the room to the lobby and restaurants were really pleasant.

Throughout the stay the staff were very attentive and we mostly stayed at the hotel for the meals in the Italian restaurant where Joy and the team worked wonders. Where we did have room service this was also a pleasant experience with food delivered promptly and even a follow up call from the in-room-dining supervisor to check we were happy. We ordered Indian food and pizza etc. on 3 occasions when the children were tired and can only give 10/10, there was nothing to let the food or service down. We ventured out twice to eat in the evening but in fairness nothing came close to the hotel and with children you can’t be too careful so the hotel was a safe option. We tried Martins Corner and Jocons both OK but nothing really to write home about, service was pretty average and quality of food well below the hotel. That said the price is considerably less, you can eat out three nights for what you would spend in the Taj for one night. In fairness to the Taj though their prices are not excessive compared to international 5 star hotels. A bottle of Kingfisher (small one) is about 200 IR (inclusive) compared with 60 IR outside. But even at 200 IR there are not many 5 star places in the world where you get a bottled beer for $3.50 US. Sorry to draw the comparison with the price of beer but from my experience this is the common denominator and you can work your average spend on food, wine etc from this. Most main courses were $30 - $50 US for reference.

We attended an outside buffet one evening where a local chef presented some Goan cooking techniques, this was also well priced and we all enjoyed. The chef was a lovely chap with 43 years of Taj experience which added to the presentation authenticity.

Our children are 8 and 9 years old and enjoyed the pool and facilities. The kids club called Tex had some excellent activities for them both including pottery, bamboo craft, pizza making and flower making. They loved it and we never felt concerned where they were because the facility is so well secured and all the staff are really caring and helpful.

Breakfast is well worth having as part of the package as there are a wide selection of traditional breakfast items as well as the usual egg station and my favorite the pancake and dosa station. Dosa masala for breakfast every morning followed by fruit and fresh juice. They were also accommodating regarding our sons love of chocolate milkshake lining them up in the morning for him to enjoy.

There are a wide range of activities to enjoy at the hotel such as archery and bike riding and the pool is superb. One small comment on the pool though was that on 2 occasions they decided to clean it during the day closing the larger pool and childrens pool for 2 hours at a time. Not good but equally not a major issue as one was always open and they just swapped over.

We used the buggy service a couple of times to get to the main gate when we went out and again found this to be excellent. I had read about long waits but we never experienced this ourselves. I would say we waited 5 - 10 minutes maximum, never any more.

In summary highly recommended, I think those reviewers that give only 1 or 2 stars and a bad experience are being unreasonable and may have just experienced a personal difference which resulted in a reality distortion of everything else. Some may make it 4 stars because of the rooms being tired, however for us the room is 20% and the staff and service 80%, so therefore a definite 5+ from all of us. There was a real sense that all members of staff wanted to do everything they could to make your experience a happy and memorable one.

This is undoubtedly our best Goan experience, thanks to all the staff at the Taj.

Room Tip: As all rooms are a couple of hundred metres back from the sea I would opt for a Garden View Room ove...

This is one of the best property in Goa. We stayed here for 2Nights during our stay. Rooms are best rooms. Ambiance is best. Of course prices are little high but you forget everything once you taste their hospitality which is best rated. Rooms are clean. Food is delicious. Swimming pool is clean with crisp clean water. Beach is private and have best watersports. We will surely make this property as our sole destination hotel in future.
