We have been in April 2009 at this so called Royal Palms Resort...which we got a Promotional Offer from one of the Club in Bangalore....It was a 3 Nights 4 days package. Intitially first 2 days went out fine at the resort..bt the problem we faced from the 1st day is like U HAVE TO SWITCH OF YOUR MOBILE as you dont get any Signals....Problem started on the 3rd day when they called us for a Seminor for 3 hours in that scortching heat tht is from 3 PM onwards
Problem with these people is they keep their seminor somewhere in the city and it takes min 3 hrs to go and come back and the those 3 hrs is entirely lost on our aspect. They wont tell you where they are taking and they will call every 2 minutes to pressurise you, even if you have a kid or u suffereing from sickness or wht ever....

We had a pretty bad experiance..on this issue....and i want to share it with you guys so that you take better care if at all you visit this resort.....

We were 2 couple with 2 kids (2 yrs & 5 yrs). Mr.Mansoor so called Manager called us and informed us that we should attend this seminor at 3 PM.. Assuming that it will be held in their own premises, we went down making our kids sleep...at 3.30 PM as kids were sleeping, our wife's said that they wont attend seminor as they have to take care of kids....So me and my colleauge went to them thinking that we will attend the seminor.....

But Ms.Amanda who takes care of this, was persisting that this seminar is for Couples and both have to come or else our pormotional offer will not be applicable... We had a heated argument with her and Mr.Mansoor as both were not in a position to listen wht we were telling to them...

They were very shrude too....We were telling them that we cant get our wifes as kids are sleeping and we cant wake them up now....bt they didnt agree and One Ms..Smitha was so arragant that she started yelling that its not a charitable trust and we are not giving any free offers...and u have to attend this seminar without fail...

Later i spoke to one Ms.Suzzaine over the phone who was so called Manager, she was adamant and told us that if we dont go to seminar, then we may have to pay the normal fare which was coming up to Rs.11000/- extra for 3 days...for each couple.....

Later we decided to go to their seminar at 5 PM.....when we woke our kids and came down with all bags..there were nobody at their room...when we approached them after 5 min, Mr.Mansoor is telling that now the time is over and we cant take you people to seminar...and We can enjoy our holiday......

But my question is what was the need for all this....When we had approached that we will come except our wifes....and i didnt like the way those 3 personnels acted on this issue....especially Ms.Amanda and Mr.Mansoor. I feel these people should be given some training on Customer Service and Hospitality Services.......So my sinciere request to all is....PLEASE DONT VISIT THIS PLACE ..IF ITS A PROMOTIONAL OFFER.....

We arrived at the resort on Apr 30th on a promotional offer thru BITS cLUB,Bangalore.As we enjoyed the 3 day visit a pain and torchure started on the last day.The staff here (Mansoor,Amenda,Smitha) forced our family to attend a presentation.They were not co-operative.Donno were on the earth these people know what the customer service is.We agreed for their terms and conditions.In the terms and conditions they had mentioned to attend the presentation,but,never mentioned the place of presentation to be held.We were under the impression that this event would be held in the same place where were were residing.They had no sense of mentioning the place of the presentation to be held in the terms and conditions and started pressurising to take us to a different place for the same.They say that when we have agreed for attending a presentation,it is imaterial whether it is in the same resort or somewhere else.Smitha was so rude in telling us that they are not running a charity trust and this sentence has deeply hurted us and neither we are staying there free of cost. The other 2 thinks that they themselves are the owners of the resort.

Our kids were taking a nap in the afternoon and these so called staff started calling every 2 min and they wanted all of us to attend the presentation (including the kids).This sounded rediculus to us and we had a fight with the staff.Though we came down to attend without our childrens.They had no soft corner for our kids and asked us to wake them up to attend the presentation.What foolish these people are?Finally,we had to wakeup our childrens and came down,the staff says" It is of no use to go at this time as the presentation is finished".Just to have this they tourchered for almost 2 hrs.Our evening was lost amd the kids were in no mood to go out as they had no sleep in that sun heat.Our last day holiday was a horrible experience.

As we have come from the same industry.we knew what the promotional offer is all about and that they will make you take the membership (even if you are not interested).I recommend travelers not to come to this resort on a promotional offer.Even if you come,maybe you need to be extra careful.The drivers outside the resort are co-operative compared to the inside staff.

We first stayed here in 2007. Our tour operator was Thompson - we liked the location but the rooms were very poor - desperately needing refurbishment and thorough cleaning. A year later we returned to Benaulim but stayed somewhere else. Thompson had by then dropped the Royal Palms from their brochure - probably because of the number of customer complaints. However, we heard that Royal Palms had been refurbished so we went and asked to look at a room. We were shown a very impressive one bedroomed apartment with modern furnishings and fixtures. We were assured that all rooms had been renovated to this level.

Rather foolishly we believed them. We subsequently booked a 19 night package on a bed and breakfast basis through a UK tour operator Travelpack. We were given a one bedroomed apartment and although it was much improved compared to our first stay, it was nowhere near the standard of the room we were shown the previous year. That said - I did find it very comfortable with a living, dining and kitchen area and a seperate bedroom. Much more space than you get in a standard hotel room. The view at the rear was pretty dismal - a white painted block wall with razor wire on top. The bed was very uncomfortable - a thin mattress on top of solid wood base. After enduring it for a week I asked for and was given, another mattress to put on top of it . It was fine after that.

The other big problem with the room was the air conditioning unit in the bedroom. It was fairly effective at keeping the room cool but it was so noisy it almost made it unuseable. We did try a night without it but decided the unbearable noise was marginally less unpleasant than the unbearable heat (we couldn't open the windows because of mosquitoes). In addition, the outside casing of the unit had rusted through which led to condensation water dripping down onto the outside casing of the air con unit of the apartment below. We only found out about this when the exasperated occupant of that apartment came and told us. He had complained to reception saying it was like chinese water torture to listen to the drips on the metal casing throughout the night. He did not use his air conditioning because like ours - it was so noisy. I told him that whilst I sympathised I had to keep the unit running because I found sleep was impossible without it. It would appear the thought of replacing my worn out a/c unit was never entertained. They resolved the situation by moving the unfortunate occupants of the apartment below to another. I was somewhat taken aback when two days later and without fixing the problem, they moved an Indian family into the same apartment. I guess they were hoping they wouldn't complain. Clearly the company motto of Royal Palms is "anything you can get away with" Incidentally, the poor English couple who were moved to a different apartment then had the misfortune of having their hot water tank burst in their new apartment. This tank is situated directly above the wardrobe. You can imagine the consequences. I do not believe this is an entirely rare occurence at Royal Palms and again calls into doubt the effectiveness of their maintenance regime.

When we first checked in we were told by reception that we had to pay a compulsory "luxury" tax of 75 rupees a day (about one UK pound). I told the receptionist that we did not have to pay this because we we were package holidaymakers. She insisted that did not matter - I would still have to pay it. This was not a pleasant way to be welcomed by Royal Palms. I refused and said I would speak to my Travelpack rep. who was having a welcome meeting the next day at 10 am. This was what was written on our welcome pack that we were given on arrival at Diabolim airport. 10 am the next day - no rep. We waited until 1020 and then got reception to telephone him. He told them he was actually coming at 1100. When he did arrive I showed him the welcome pack with the time of 1000 for his attendance. He just shrugged his shoulders and said that was wrong - not even an apology. The extra hour I could have had in bed would have been most welcome after the preceding days lengthy journey. I told him about the problem I had on check in with regard to the "luxury" tax. This was overheard by the senior receptionist - Betty - who said she had heard about this and confirmed it was a mistake and that I did not have to pay - it was only time share guests who were liable. I told her that it was a distinctly unpleasant welcome to be told that you had to pay for something when that was not the case. I asked her to make sure her staff were told about this to prevent a re-occurrence. Guess what? a week later when we were joined by relatives at Royal Palms (again on a package deal) - what were they told they were liable to pay? Fortunately I was present and could let the receptionist know - in determined terms - that this was nonsense. A mistake - a lack of training - or an attempt to dishonestly relieve a tourist of some money. You decide.

Also, when we checked in we were not given a voucher for breakfast. We only found out that we should have been given one by talking to other guests. This led to all sorts of unpleasantness when we went for our first breakfast. The restaurant staff insisted that we sign for our breakfast. Now to me, if you sign for something you are acknowledging your liability to pay for it. I initially refused to sign but when it became clear that without resorting to force, I would not be able to leave the restaurant, I wrote on the bill "I AM NOT PAYING FOR THIS IT IS INCLUDED IN MY PACKAGE" and then signed it. As you can imagine, this rather detracted from the dining experience!!! Guess what our relatives who joined us later were not given when they checked in? I had to be rather insistent to get it for them. The breakfast consisted of a very poor buffet and you could also ask for freshly cooked eggs in all their usual variations. We were not aware of this second option until our third day and had to endure the buffet thinking that was all that was available. Service at breakfast was very poor - we were often ignored - they ran out of coffee one morning!!!. On another day when I asked for coffee I was given tea. Soft boiled eggs arrived at the table raw - when sent back were returned hard boiled. We gave up on breakfast in the end - despite having paid for it in our package - I found the experience to be too frustrating due to the staff incompetence.

Despite all this we still enjoyed our stay - but you had to accept that anything that involves their staff delivering a service invariably led to frustration and disappointment. There were exceptions - the lady on reception who got me the extra mattress was exceptionally good as were the housekeeping staff. We never ate at the hotel other than breakfast (after our breakfast experience who would want to?) There are some excellent restaurants nearby.

Cajie Restaurant is almost opposite the entrance to Royal Palms (slightly to the left on the opposite side of the road as you walk out) Service is slow but if you are prepared for this the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food and its value for money more than make up for it. Anina and her husband who own it, are very welcoming. There is a restaurant opposite the Royal Palms restaurant run by Nepalese staff. I cant' recall the name of it but the food was very good with an extremely comprehensive menu. Prices were very low. Our favourite beach shack was called The Mahal. It can be found by going down the main Benaulim beach road to the car parking/turning area at the end. Go onto the beach - turn left and walk for about five minutes. Superb service everyday from Krishna. The food was generally excellent (a couple of the curries weren't to my taste)and very reasonably priced. We ate there every day and were never bothered by stomach problems A late discovery was The Blue Lagoon Bar and Restaurant at the Star of the Sea Resort. This can be found by turning left out of the Royal Palms and walking for about 5 minutes - it's about 100 metres short of the crossroads where the Kadar supermarket is. Its owned and run by an English guy - Simon Green. Lovely restaurant - great service and superb food. Slightly more expensive than some other restaurants but well worth it. Superb menu and a variety of cuisines were available. We had fantastic roast beef and all the trimmings on our last night. (I know its bad form to eat home favourites when abroad - but what the hell - it was damned good) If you like to drink wine- Simon is the Director of a South African wine shipping company. He has excellent quality wines at very reasonable prices (wine in Goa is usually rubbish and costs a fortune)

To sum up - if you are booked to go to Benaulim and you are not hankering after hectic nightlife - just excellent food in relaxing laid back restaurants- you have made the right choice.
If you are staying at Royal Palms and can manage your expectations you should not be disappointed. Despite my frustrations - if the price was right I would not rule out going there again. I couldn't say that had our stay been a disaster - it was far from that.

I just came back from Goa stayed in Royal Palm beach club.First of all I will never recommend no one to go there to spoil there vacation,even you get a free offer,like the way I had with my friends.
We had the booking done by Mr Rossario,is working for the same company....total fraud...just like to get money and when you really need him,he is not there doesn’t even pick up the phone.We were promised that all of us will get the same kind of accommodation but when we reached there it was other way around,when I tried to call him he disconnected the phone and then switched off....that is it once you pay you are on your own as they take the money in advance and that is also non refundable....I tried ti speak to the manager on duty and she told me that she can not refund the money,....finally the real manager some Mr Jein ...came and I tell you he doesnt even know how to talk to the guest,Have no clue how he became the manager of the property...doesn’t have no cluse to guest/customer service...doesn’t want to listen..pretends that he knows everything in the world even our problem without even listing to it....finally I had to stop him which he didn’t want to ...came up with this idea that he will change the place in 1 day or 2...I stayed 6 days no one came or bothered to ask if we were OK...he had kids and we had a very bad experience...
Just to let everyone know that the royal palm resort is no more royal palm resort..as they are having some legal case going on and youcan make out right away once youreack there,as half of the apartments are painted in red and half in blue...blue once are owned by rpl..the case is in high court ......they have 2 different receptions ,if you go to the pool you have to take your own towels coz some or us stayed in royal blue plam and some in the other property which was rented out by Mr Rossario with his commission granted.He is working for royal plam but doing some monkey business and renting out the other apartments in the name of royal palm...These red apartments (if you need you can have them by paying some money for a week by Mr Rossario but he wont tell you that they don’t belong to royal palm) doesnt even have phone,towels,houkeeping service...and you name it...Regular BLUE ones the one belong to royal plam,the place needs to have maintenance and the furniture is disaster,later on they will come and ask for the damage....
They take you to Hathi Mahal to show you and to push you to take this membership....it OK to take the membership but the service and the place is in total mess if it is mahindra’s,or dalmia’s,or any other..please go head..don’t waste time on the royal pain beach resort...

We were at Royal Palms in end of Nov 2008.I think it's a nice place for family getaway as it has a great location.I prefer clean beaches with less crowd and so I loved Benaullim Beach as it was very less crowded and preferably a very clean beach.
Water Sports like water scooty and parasailing is available at very reasonable prices and is not a very hard bargain.They charged us 300 Rs for a motorboat ride for 4 of us which is quite reasonable.One can hire a scooter or a car for just 200 rs and 700 rs respectively just outside the hotel premises.Swimming pool is quite big and a real nice place to hang out in the evening.Housekeeping was very efficient and they attended to all our calls well in time.Ah.. one great thing is their very well equipped Kitchen since most of the useful appliances and utensils were available.I stayed in their 1BHK Apartment which is quite spacious for a family of 4.My Kids had a nice time at the resort and I would recommend this property to anybody looking for a nice hangout at reasonable budget.

Theres alot of stuff already out there on the Royal Plams so ill try to be helpful to first time non members of the RGBC resorts.
The difference in check in time and check out time is totally inexplicable and definitely should be kept in mind if you are travelling with family and kids. Arrive as close to the Check in time as poss and request for a swimming pool facing ground floor room especially if you have kids and the elderly accompanying you since that will prove to be quite cumbersome over a long stay at this resort.
They have a nice garden with a kids play area at the back which is the best place to hang out, receive and make mobile calls since its the only place where one can actually be reachable.
The swimming pool is overcrowded at all times and has hindi (Indian ) music playing at crazy decibel levels which is totally unfair to the guests of this resort that try to do some reading by the poolside and may not enjoy music of just one type..Premium hotels in goa dont even have music playing at and ard the poolside but thats why this is the RGBC.
The Housekeeping staff are very polite and loose count of the number of times they switch and change towels in the rooms...they will get small towels and take away the larger ones??
The hotel restaurant ive had heard was expensive so we mostly ate around the hotel premises (NEVER once did we eat at the hotel !!!) ...The grocery shops ard the hotel provided us the eggs, sausages, bread (pao etc) for our breakfast binges. For our rem meals the benaulim beach shacks were by far the better options and tansy bar and rest seemed decent.
The beach is a good 10 mins walk but it is by far the best , cleanest and safest beach ive ever visited in goa...SO thats my best for the last..Enjoy ure walks to the beach and then just go into the water and take in the amazing sunsets at this fab beach.

With much of expectation and enthusiasm we landed up in Royal Palms. Our kids were just waiting to have a break from their routine studies and they were so thrilled to come into a different place and so were we parents, just giving a big break from our hectic daily work.

Lo! & behold Royal Palms is indeed a semi heaven that one must enjoy and experience. From the time of arrival and to the dot of departure we had a wonderful time !!

The people at the receiption were very cordial & helpful. The rooms were really mainted well and the cleanliness was protrayed to the maximum. The attenders were on their toes in their timings and whatever we requested they provided it on time. The pool was excellant !! Kids just enjoyed it. The departmental store had everything that was basic and was just enough for a comfortable stay. Cafetaria was quite expensive but good food... Evenings there used to be some activities like magic show etc beside the pool.

Of all the holidays we enjoyed the most in ROYAL PALMS, GOA.!!

Just try.....if one has to relax drop in to Royal Palms and absolutely there is no need to go out everyday.. few beaches are just few kms away wherein you can enjoy there also.
