This was my 1st trip to GOA... and the BEST part of my 8 days stay was 'Joecons Beach Resort'. Worth every penny.

Positives: Infrastructure (rooms, pool, gardens), superb maintenance, tasty food (lunch/dinner), extremely courteous staff & Mr. Som Mittal (not just the GM of Joecons, but, a GEM of a person too). Must mention about Mr. Ganesh (one off Joecons driver - fantastic driver & guide).

Improvement areas: Need to employ more drivers (specially during peak season), improvise on breakfast menu items (one cannot eat pappaya + watermelon + pineapple EVERY single day for 8 days) & faster room service (wrt food).

This is a 'fairly' new resort, so, just like everything in life -- I guess this resort is also going thru' it's learninig curve. What I really appreciate was that my feedback was incorporated ASAP. eg, room service was taking awfuly long time to serve us food in the room -- from the moment I reached out to Mitra (Manager) & Som with this feedback, they ensure room service was always on time.

Despite of (very few) negatives -- I would 'happily' like to give a 5 star rating for my entire stay @ Joecons.

(and yes, tooooo many Russian guests does make you feel out of the place [at times])

Room Tip: Go for Ground floor Rooms # G-001, 002, 003 or 004.

Accessibility: Good.
Parking: Usually do not provide Indoor parking. (During off season was allowed to park indoors)
Check-in: Good
Accomodation: Very good room. Clean and Spacious. Bathroom was very clean. To get Hot water had to waste many buckets of water (may be because of the solar and also room occupany was low.)
Breakfast: Tasty breakfast (Ala carte)
Dinner: Average Taste. No value for money. (Opted to eat in other locations after one dinner)
Swimming Pool: Clean
Staff: Very Friendly
Location of the Beach: Not really close to the beach. Behind the Taj resort.
Resort facilities: Good (Spacious Garden)
Overall: Good stay and good value for money.

Stayed here for a few days and overall it was a satisfactory experience. The rooms and the cleaning by Pria were excellent and the grounds pretty and well kept as is the pool. The staff were friendly and several tried hard to please and help, but this was inconsistent. The new management structure will hopefully improve on this. As a result of the lack of strong management, breakfast is somewhat shambolic with disorganised provisions and service although the "egg man" was fantastic and worked his socks off prducing great tasty fare. However the rest of the food was left open to flies, was poorly replenished or not refilled at all, including basics like bread and fruit, and staff not performing their jobs well. Getting tea or coffeee was equally hit and miss and often luke warm and poor tasting. The location of the hotel is a very hot 20 minute walk through rice fields and wild dogs to the beach as it is around the immense Taj grounds and finally ends with a string of aggressive hawkers. Or to the local shops, it is a 15 minute walk on a busy road through more rice fields and dogs. The beach is a sandy but not the best and with the Joecons shack only being open during the day, was of limited interest to us. Almost all the guests are Russian and this proved overpowering for us. Think carefully before staying here!

We stayed here for a week and very much enjoyed our trip. Joecons was mixed, the room was large and clean and the air-con quiet and efficient. The staff were lovely but some at the restaurant rather inept, service being slow. Fish was good but the local dishes were poor. Breakfast was very poor except for the fruit and omelettes. I agree with the previous reviews, coffee was the worst I've tasted. The place was overwhelmed with Russians who were rude and boorish, I was queue barged for the omlettes by one who then ordered 4 for her whole table. A pamphlet in the room about the hotel telling you what services were available at the hotel (like times for breakfast, where to get the swimming towels etc) would be helpful.

There's much to like about Joecons, and much that could be improved.

On the plus side, it's new, the rooms are well appointed, large and kept spotlessly clean, and the staff are, without exception, charming.

Some people criticise it for not being on the beach - well, the beach is a pleasant 10-minute stroll away, and while you're strolling there you can have the fun of being mugged by every shopholder on the little road. we tried to buy something from everyone, but there are only so many statues of Ganesh you can take.

Swimming pool is large - there's a second one, as well, but I don't know is that's reserved for the people who rent or own flats. It has no shade nor umbrellas at all, so we used the main hotel pool.

The gardens are a delight. Beautifully kept, and with a fascinating assortment of flowers, shrubs, orchids, whatever.

Downside: the bulk (90%) of its clientele seems to be Russian package tour customers, and if you want the equivalent of Brits at a cheap Costa del Sol resort, that's as close as you'll get. The sight of two couple settling down at breakfast with a bottle of rum and two bottles of Coke will live with me forever.

Food - pretty good, but the service is very patchy. Catch them on a good day, and all's well. Catch them on a bad day, as we did on our first night, and you'll wait 40 minutes for your drinks and first course which (when it did arrive) was way undercooked. Just watching the waiting staff collecting their orders from the chefs gives you a clue: there's a lot of confusion going on there. This explains why food was tepid/warm on one nights, and hot on others.

We ordered snapper one night - it was grilled to perfection, but was only warm when it arrived, and the waiter made a complete cods' of serving it. On the other hand, one night when we sampled some local dishes, they were great.

Breakfasts are extremely poor. Cereals, a vast quantity of cheap sliced white bread (which the Russians evidently adore), tureens containing nasty sausages, boiled eggs, hash browns and boiled eggs. Decent dahl and puri. Nasty fruit juice, some decent fresh fruit, and some lovely little sweet buns (local speciality?) but if you arrived after 9am you were likely to find the Russians had snarfed them all and there were none left. Butter and luminous red jam, and that was it.

Except for the omelettes - made on the spot, and with chilli, coriander, cheese, onion etc if you anted all or some added. Glorious.

The tea was very strong - fine if you like it - but the coffee was the nastiest I've encountered.

Wifi - 400 rupees for a day. Worked fine in the rooms. Relatively slow connection.

Sum-up: could be really great with some more attention to the service. Would I go back there? I'd chance it, yes.

Room Tip: Do not, on any account, choose a room that faces the music and dance area. Not if you want to sleep.

We spent 2 nights here and we truly enjoyed our stay. Most exciting thing here is swimming pool.
They are managing it well. Its very near to beach.
Rooms are clean.Only thing I did not like is the authenticity of the food and its taste.
As we are group of 4 we tried various items in the menu, but none are as per standard.
