Lotus Beach Resort
Ranked #10 of 15 Hotels in Benaulim
Reviewed March 11, 2006

We just returned from Lotus Suites Goa today. And we are missing the wonderful time we had there.
It is a great apartment hotel. The apartment has an outer sitting room with a well-equipped kitchenette and an inner double-bed room both of which are air-conditioned and have separate cooling controls. The outer sitting room has a double sofa-cum-bed which sleeps two additional persons. It is a very comfortable place for a family of four. The service is very courteous and prompt. The rooms and toilet are very neat and clean. The swimming pool is great too. And so is the restaurant and room service.
The hotel is located at a 5 minutes walk from Benaulim Beach which is one of the best beaches in South Goa. The beach is not crowded like the beaches of north Goa and will be loved by persons who like their privacy.
There are plenty of beach shacks nearby where you can enjoy excellent cocktails and Goan and assorted food varieties. We would recommend Johncy’s Beach Shack which is on the beach and a 5 minute walk from the hotel and is a perfect setting to spend a lazy evening with the cool breeze and sea waves for company.
All in all, the Lotus Suites is an excellent apartment hotel at a great location near the beach and value for money. What more can one ask for?

Very spacious accomodation, we had an apartment that slept 4 which had a good sized kitchen (not that we used it but a fridge to keep the beer cold was a bonus!). It had good air con, TV and en suite. The actual complex looks a little tired in places - especially the pool area and if they just revamed this there would be little to complain about. Some of the rooms are undergoing modernisation so there was some building work going on too. All in all I couldnt complain and its one of the few places I would recommend if you are travelling with kids.

For £18 a night we got a spacious one bedroom appartment in this clean, well run resort located five minutes from unspoilt Benaulim Beach. The resort has a good sized, spotlessly clean pool and a simple open air restaurant. We only ever had breakfast there and it was well cooked, freshly prepared, tasty food. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would return at the drop of a hat. We ate lunch everyday at Dominic's beach shack which does nice food. I had the fresh melon juice and fish etc and didn't get ill so I recommend it as safe. They are also very friendly. For anybody going soon - there are three hungry motherless kittens by the enterance to the resort. We fed them fresh squid twice a day. It would be nice to know if somebody else is going out there who will feed them and how they are doing.

Stayed here in Feb 2004 for 2 weeks. Resort lacks any heart to it, near the entrance a large concrete car park that's always empty! hotel is very quiet and part of a complex of privately owned apartments and houses. Fantastic pool available for use by hotel guests, no pool amenities though eg, bar or restaurant service. Only spent 1 afternoon there as a fabulous beach and lots of good beachbars (which are open from early in morning until late at night) within 5 mins walk. Better location for the beach than the village located hotels. Suite offers more facilities than room only, settees, large fridge, facilities to cook if required, was good not to have to use room service. A/C in bedroom and main room, a bonus. plenty of storage and a safe. 2 balconies. Bathroom basic but clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Several restaurants within walking distance, wouldn't bother to eat at hotel. Would recommend as a base for South Goa - more laid back than the North, quieter, stunning beach, but beach sellers even more of a pain than in the North! . Don't expect to meet lots of new people at the hotel. Would stay here again for the practicalities of location and suite facilities.

This was the first time I stayed at Lotus Suites - found them on Expedia at $52 per night for a suite (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining room). It is located in South Goa (away from where the action takes place - quieter and less touristy) and is part of a time-share condo association world-wide. (They sell units as well, typically for about $20,000 and up)

Finding the hotel was a problem - even the local cabby had to ask several times before we reached it. Getting around can also be a problem - taxis charge $20 each way to North Goa and whatever they can get late at night. I ended up renting a car for $20 per day (motorbikes/scooters can be rented for about $5 per day) to be able to get around.

The quality of food served at the hotel is poor - there are a couple of very good restaurants right on the beach about 5 minutes away. Otherwise your choices are one of the 5 star hotels in South Goa (The Leela Palace is very good) or the restaurants around Baga Beach in North Goa (about 30 miles away). The room is adequate - if you're a family, this is cheap living as the kitchen comes completely equipped. You have to remember to turn on the hot water geyser otherwise there is no running hot water. However, for the amount that you're paying, it is worth it (air-conditioned rooms to boot).

I'm not sure if I'll stay at this hotel again - the pluses are the low price and it being a suite. The minuses are that is far away from where I wanted to be most of the time (the restaurants and shops around Baga Beach and the flea market at Anjuna and old Goa) and it was a one hour commute in either direction on poorly lit tiny roads, so if choosing a quiet area is most important, then South Goa (and this hotel) will appeal to you.
