I stayed here with a friend early July just about when it pours in Goa which is something we enjoy. Staying at this beautifully restored Portuguese house during the rains gave us the much needed rest and relaxation in Goa. The place is well maintained and the owner Charles Heredia went all out to ensure we were well taken care of.
Staying at Casa Bottu (an authentic Portuguese name for a house) allowed us to unwind in the splendor of this amazing house. The rooms are well maintained, the pool was a pleasure to swim in (with no peeping neighbours!) and one can enjoy some good feni (local alcohol) in the balcao (balcony).
You will need of course need to have your means of transport as this place is located on an island and public transport is hard to come by. Charles assisted us in getting a bike which is an awesome way to travel in Goa during the rains.
I suggest this place for all those who want a taste of staying in a Portuguese house in Goa and want to just relax in the peace and quiet of a lovely village which is just the thing one needs to do while on holiday in Goa

I stayed here with my friends from 31st July to 2nd August 2015 and it was a great experience. The property is located in Cherao (pronounced as Sherow) Island, which also houses the famous Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary of Goa. From Panaji, one need to cross Mandovi River in a ferry (along with your vehicle) at Ribandar - which itself is a captivating experience for first timers - to reach Cherao. It is an unspoilt village, calm, quite and ravishingly beautiful with its lush paddy fields and small green groves. It is easy to locate the property as it is adjacent to St. Bartholomew Church, Cherao. The authentic Goan style (inspired by the Portuguese, I assume) architecture of Casa Battu (alias “The beautiful Island Villa”) is impressive. The Large living room is of great use for group gatherings and chitchats. The floor tiles and antique light fittings radiate the charm of a long gone-by era. Bedrooms were clean, spacious and well kept, so were the bathrooms. The open bathroom concept in the master bedroom (upstairs) is simply cute! The pool is located in perfect settings, behind the Villa and surrounded by thick green grass and mighty tall trees. It offers unhindered privacy, where you can enjoy the way you want, whenever you want. We played music all through the night until the early morning hours, and NO neighbour complaints in the next morning! This place is for you to unwind, without any restrictions on amount of sound you can make etc :). Also, take a plunge, have a drink, read a book or just relax, right here! Panaji is half an hour away by road and all major attractions of Central and North Goa can be accessed from here without much difficulty. It is advisable to have the means of transport (Bike / Car) hired for the whole stay as there is no reliable public transport systems inside the Island. Altogether, we had a great time and will definitely come back for more.

We stayed in this villa for 3 nights 4 days with our friends . It was a perfect holiday. It's great villa with all the anematie , pictures of villa and in the website are real and we got what we paid for .
This place is away from the craziness of south goa , it's quite with great ambience . All the guests are look after by a guy named Vishnu , who gets everything you need do it doesn't feel like you are staying bit far .
It all depends what you looking for . If you want to party and stay late at night clubs then there are better options but if you looking for a very nice stay with private pool and no one to disturb you , this place is perfect . Moving around isn't that much of a hassle either, boats are at very good frequency which can take you from island to panjim, I would recommend to hire a car .
The owner Charles is very helpful and gives all the correct information and he is Available any time on the phone for quarries.
I will definitely stay again .
Thanks Charles for hosting us .
