Our first visit to Goa and what an excellent choice we made in Presa di Goa prior to leaving Australia in January 2013. Outside the walls there was unbelievable hustle, bustle and noise - all very entertaining in itself but at the end of the day what a pleasure to return to our "Shangrila" as we chose to rename this peaceful hotel set in beautiful surroundings. We could not fault the service whether it were the care of our cottage, meals on our verandah or our daily evening dinner on the Garden Terrace. It was a delightful experience.

Room Tip: We would choose the "Dahlia" cottage again if we visited.

A Five Star Haven and Oasis of Peace But Still Near the Hustle and Bustle that is Goa

Having never visited Goa or India before, I spent 2 hours searching for hotels in North Goa. I came upon the Presa di Goa, Calungute. All the reviews were amazing so I had no doubts booking it. We were not disappointed. We stayed from Jan 2 to Jan 9, 2013. They sent a car to pick us up which was on time and the driver was very friendly and knowledgeable (this was a free service).
The first impressions of this beautifully, restored country house were when the blue facade appeared through a lush vegetation of ferns, coconut palms and the refreshing view of a pool set in a gorgeous, walled garden. Edward, the owner was there to greet us and make us feel very welcome. We were shown directly to our stunningly furnished, romantic room with four-poster bed. Two French windows with wooden shutters led onto a beautiful veranda. We were served with a fresh fruit salad as a welcome. And this was how the whole holiday followed. Nothing was too much trouble. Edward was always on hand to help with local knowledge. He even organises a walk at 7am, for an hour visiting the village and paddy fields around the villa.

I would definitely recommend this haven to anyone looking to experience India in a five star setting at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be returning as soon as possible.
Thank you to Edward and all his happy, smiling staff who made our holiday a most wonderful experience.

Room Tip: All roooms are good.

We stayed at Presa di Goa in November of 2011 and it was an experience well beyond expectations. Me and my wife were looking for a small and cozy place away from the predictable chaos of popular Goa hotels and Presa di Goa was all that we were looking for and a lot more. A nice old villa turned into personally looked after boutique hotel with the owner and his pets - it certainly feels like a home away from home. Nice little restaurant, amazing food and open dining area right next to the pool add to the charm. If your idea of a holiday in Goa is to have some time for yourself and your family and not doing just beach hopping, this is the place. If you are looking for a large hotel with fancy services and spa, this certainly is not a place to be at.
Highly recommended!

we have just returned from our holiday in Goa and from our second time at Presa di Goa and we will certainly stay there again next time we visit Goa, we ususally holiday in Goa once a year and until we found this Gem of a hotel our accomadation has been some what mixed to say the least. We were very impressed when we stayed here for a week in December 2011 as part on a trip including a visit to Jaipur so needless to sat when we planned Goa again in 2012 Presa di Goa was our first choice. It is so nice to return some where to find the same high standards have been maintained. As both being over 60 we took advantage of one of their packages and found it excellent value we had the seven day package but for ten days. In fact I don't think you will get better value anywhere in my opinion you get 5 star service for 3 star money, The rooms are lovely with nice touches of slippers and robes lovely furniture and very cool. The flat screen TV was a real bonus to my husband as England were playing India in a test match and we spent a couple of days around the pool and he could pop up and keep abreast of the scoring. Mr Speck was away this time we visited and at some establishments this could mean a fall off in standards not here. The staff are both a credit to Mr Speck and themselves. I would like to particularly mention the two boys who served us at breakfast and when we lunched or had an evening meal there, they are brilliant on one occasion my husband was ordering drinks and I was having a G&T and he said no ice for my drink it was very politely suggested that I did take ice with Gin but not with Brandy, now thats what I call a good waiter! Finally I must recommend the food, the breakfast is great (the only place Dave was able to get the perfect soft boiled eggs) and we had several lunches here this time and two or three evening meals a great menu and all the food cooked to perfection. Thank you to everyone there for making our holiday so relaxing and in everyway brilliant.

Room Tip: all the rooms are quiet each room is individual all equally attractive look on their website where e...

I stayed at the presa di goa from 14 to 16 December 2012 and occupied the marigold room.

The hotel has maintained it's old world charm and is very very well maintained with extreme cleanliness. The walls etc looked as if they had undergone a fresh coat of painting. The hotel booking includes complementary breakfast which they serve in the rooms - a nice touch since my room had a very beautiful balcony.

Staff is polite and were willing to provide us a room to freshen up even after check out time.

Two issues - the flow of water in the room was quite poor and the reception of the television needs improvement .

We stayed here for 3 nights in December 2012. What a haven Mr Speck has made of it. Excellence in everything - location, fast check in, excellent room, excellent food, excellent staff. We have yet to come across such a complete hotel. Does not need any improvement! Just needs to be kept same way - a very very very fine hotel.
