Can only endorse all other comments. Giles and his team give the Taj and Oberoi a run for their money in terms of welcome, standards of service and attention to detail. From arrival you're made to feel at home- staff are completely unobtrusive but super friendly and always to hand when required. The visits from Suhas, Savio and Giles to in the morning and evening with helpful suggestions for trips etc were really welcome and always on point. The food is to DIE (and diet after!) for- we found it hard to make ourselves go out at all in the evening having discovered, inter alia, the chef's camembert souffle speciality, red onion mash amidst a huge selection of delicious dishes. We always found space to lounge around the pool- sun or shade to choice, and the other options of beaches etc to visit meant that on the few days we stayed "home" we had this totally to ourselves- bar the occasional appearance of one of the team with a sample of chef's new creation- (PS rum and ginger sorbet- delicious!) We had always had a preference for South Goa's quieter beaches, but found we really liked being North ensconced in the village of Nerul- it felt that the local life went on around us, and you wouldn't know that the tourist strips of Candolim etc were 15 minutes away. Also there's a great "jogging track" through the village/paddy fields and along the beach, only needing to slow down for the odd dog and cow close encounter (they seemed a little keen to come along!) ....so you don't need to be totally lazy though of course after a few days it's all too tempting to just relax and enjoy the surroundings. We thought 10 days may be a little long in one location but the driver on hand, and the options of spending days on the beach/crab catching/seeing old Panjim (loved the Fontainhas area and Venite) for some culture "lite" meant that there was plenty to do to provide some variety. Also being able to use La Pousada on the beach resort meant that a beach was only 10 mins away. Can only liken this to having a hotel in your own home, that feels as if it's run by friends- the best of both worlds. We would definitely return, and hope Giles replicates the concept in some other location before long for a new experience! .
