My wife and I stayed at Granpa's Inn during Feb 2013 and highly recommend it. In particular, the rooms out back of the pool were very awesome, nice large front porch with stone sitting around table, decent sized room and bath with large glass shower and best of all, enclosed, private back yard with another outdoor shower and sitting area. These rooms were more expensive than the standard rooms up front, but well worth it. Large, old trees dot the property and one awakes in the morning to birds. Just around the corner to Brahami Yoga and centrally located to almost everything. We will be back.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and get the suites that surround the pool

landed in anjuna goa on a busy weekend on 26th jan. every hotel was packed full! jumped on a bike and crossed a mustard niche portugal style property tucked on a quiet lane. trust me you shall fall in love with the place if you are the small villa property with lush foliage and old cult types! with 20 rooms villa style and amazing pool set in the centre of this property - the overall style is so so goa in ole portugal days. Run family style, the operation handcrafted and offers privacy, amazing rooms and plenty of peace
much recommended! was a bit heavy on our pocket for price per room- but what the hell we were celebrating!!( quiet rooms are 1-6). some awesome villa rooms by the pool. i did not eat at the place -but service staff are courteous and sometime bully their way politely if they find it to cumbersome to execute a requested task!
the owners are pleasure to meet and obliging to your requests!
am going there again - soooon!

We have been returning to Grandpa's Inn for many years. We live in London, UK. This year, January 2013, we stayed 3 weeks. On occasion we have used the single rooms in or behind the main house and always found them to be very comfortable and immaculately clean. Normally we stay in the delightful larger a/c rooms beyond the pool; again immaculately clean, no 'nasty' corners, extremely well designed with a sitting terrace at the front, a high walled private sitting terrace at the rear with a great outside shower (in this climate we never use the shower in the modern en-suite bathroom). Room servicing is very thorough, with constant linen changes, making the rooms a real haven of peace and cleanliness. The lovely pool is 25 meters or less from the rooms, through the gardens. The admin staff are very able, helpful and efficient and the hotel reflects this competence. The restaurant does need further development as it is very limited in its offerings and hardly competes with the multitude of fantastic alternatives nearby.

Room Tip: If your budget allows stay at the poolside rooms. They are delightful, quiet and in the gardens.

Having stayed at Grandpa's in the past I was curious about the new modifications. The original house was as inviting as ever and the staff as pleasant and helpful as I I remembered. The renovated swimming pool and open air dining area has been tastefully done to a high standard. The new rooms overlooking the pool are of the same high standard. If you are looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating place to stay then Grandpa's is for you whether you are on your own,a couple or a family group. The only downside is that the yoga has moved up the road and given the pedestrian unfriendly Goa roads, this is a drawback if yoga is your thing.

Room Tip: Pick a room at the back away from the main road - there always seems to be someone going past on a n...

A place to come if you want to escape from the crowds in Anjuna and you are looking for a splendid swimming pool. The drawback of the location is that it is not within walking distance of the village and beach; you must take taxis or hire a scooter (but think twice as there is so much traffic and we saw some nasty injuries). The pool is the big advantage, set in a garden of tropical trees. A lot of small children splashing around when we were there, which was not always welcome. We stayed in a pool-side room, which came with a/c, tv and a fridge but was strangely lacking in comfort - the outside space had stone benches to sit on and no cushions.
The restaurant was disappointing, with the best dishes only available at lunch or as extras to be ordered at breakfast. The free continental breakfast was poor. In addition, a second cup of weak Nescafe cost an extra 45 rupees plus tax. The waiters from the far north-east of India were friendly. The management were not. Be sure to put valuables in the hotel safe, as we later discovered to our cost. It is a lovely Portuguese villa but much of its charm is lost from the way the place is operated. Admittedly we were there at the busiest time of year and that could have been a factor. It might work as a mid-way option between Goa's backpacker hostels and package holiday hotels but if we went to North Goa again we would choose one of these two rather than Granpa's.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms for views and space but cheaper inside rooms for character

I came here because of the onsite yoga place and was disappointed to hear that it was no longer there and the owners have decided to use the premises for a 'party room'. we had a standard room which was clean and well maintained with very good showers. I wouldn't opt for the pool side rooms as they are over-priced. The continental breakfast included in the price was disappointing, only eggs and canned juice/coffee/tea and even a masala tea was charged extra. We also had to pay extra for the safe. The pool area is nice and the restaurant staff friendly, though we didn't feel that welcome as we walked in with our backpacks and traveller's gear. The place seems to aim for more middle class tourists and families, don't come here if you want to meet fellow laid back travelers or experience the special Anjuna vibe. We had food at the restaurant twice and did not like it at all, but then again that's a matter of taste. You definitely need a bike here as the location is a bit out of town.

We were staying by the beach during our last trip to Goa; and spent many days in the sea-side shacks. We wanted to get away from the crowd, and Granpa's Inn turned out to be the perfect option! The moment you walk in, you know you would want to sit there with a book and a drink for hours. Outdoor seating, with trees all around - the entire place has a very Goan feel to it.

To top it, the food was so good! Especially the shrimp benedicte. Absolutely finger lickin' good. The drinks were so refreshing. We tried chilli martini and cactus martini. Both were brilliant! There is a pool table too which can be used for a very nominal amount. I would definitely like to stay here for a few days next time I am in Goa. Even though it is a little away from the beaches, it is a lovely place to go to in Goa.
