“Its not a B&B ...its a Portugese villa!”
Reviewed June 10, 2012

Granpas Inn is more than just a B&B or guest house. It is a sprawling Portuguese villa that has thrown its doors open to visitors of Goa. Apparently there’s this old catholic belief in Anjuna that homes are supposed to be single storeyed structures and Granpas Inn has retained it that way. All the suites/hotel rooms are annexes to the main building. They have a large patio with an extended lawn, landscaped into a sub tropical garden with shady trees and other fauna. The patio is wi-fi enabled and visitors can just lounge around listening to reggae or country music, have their grub or just while away their time.The architecture and the decor is undoubtedly what strikes one immediately as one enters inside the hotel. There is even a small bookshelf tucked away in one of the corridors that hotel inmates can borrow books from. The place has this irresistible old world colonial charm where time seems to lazily pass by.
The rooms though not luxurious (which is okay for the tariff charged) are comfortably furnished. The best part is that each of these rooms has a small individual sit-out. (I later realised that the newly constructed pool side suites are more spacious with bigger sit-outs and better facilities, though I am not complaining at all cause all good places in Goa are fully booked during the holiday season and I was lucky to have even found a room in such a nice place.)
The swimming pool is fantastic-clean and well maintained.
The food though not bad at all can do with a little improvement.
The only thing is its not very close to the beach, which can work both ways though. For me it worked because Goa can get crowded during the winter revelry season and I wanted some peace and solitude after all the partying during NY’s eve.
Have to say this Portuguese villa is a hidden gem of a place. Betina- the owner, Mr. Vish, Cecilia and all the staff made it a very pleasant and wonderful stay. Would love to go back for sure and definitely recommend it to all.

Room Tip: Try poolside rooms

We stayed for 4 nights & 5 days in May 2012 in the pool side a/c suite no. 22 which is a corner suite. Being the corner suite, the main room is slightly bigger due to the architectural design of the suites.

What is really amazing about these newly built pool side suites is the open enclosed sit out at the back with an open shower - this is perfect for couples & gives you all the privacy you need.

Clear blue skies, a few trees & an open shower…sheer happiness.

Even the loo is very nice & clean with huge windows that open into the enclosed sit out at the back.

The loo & the open shower have a lovely mosaic wall pattern too. The attention to details in these newly built suites is superb - something that'll go a long way in making your stay with Granpa's Inn pleasurable.

We highly recommend staying at Granpa's Inn & preferably go in for the Pool side suites.

This quaint colonial resort is run by Betina, a very jovial lady who'll make sure that you have a great stay with them.

We will be returning soon for another stay at Granpa's Inn
in a few months :) Thank you Betina for the marvelous stay :)

Room Tip: Go in for the Pool side suites - preferably a corner one.

Bouganville brings wonderful memories from our stay in Goa. Loved the quiet garden, which is such a colored dream by day and magical scene by night. We had a very nice stay with all of you. Thanks, hoping see you soon! R&B

A group of cousins, mostly couples and one toddler decided to visit Goa in December. A cousin who lives in Goa recommended the place as a good B&B.

From that sense, it more than lived up to our expectations :)

The rooms were compact, but clean and decently furnished. The bathrooms had hot water, yeah.. December nights in Goa can be cold and so this was a blessing! Each room had a small TV, decent wardrobe space and nice, comfy queen sized bed!

The swimming pool was lovely. In fact, a lot of tourists from around Anjuna would come over to use it. In terms of other facilities, there was a small bookshelf for those interested in reading, a pool table and a few indoor board games.

The inn has a restaurant run by Kenny, the chef, a Goan who's recently returned home. The menu is a mix of mostly continental fare, and on special request, Goan delicacies. Would have loved to sample authentic Goan food but unfortunately that wasn't on the menu.

Breakfast options are good, the usual English breakfast and surprisingly, Indian fare like poha and yummy Aloo parathas! Given that the majority was keen on Goan food, we headed out for lunch and dinner. But the breakfast never disappointed... Bacon and eggs, sausages, parathas, fruit juice.. Yummy!

Loved the setting as well... It's a garden restaurant, so mornings meant sitting under the shade of a huge tree, soaking in the warmth of the sun that peeked through... Watching birds and squirrels in the garden.

Have fond memories of this place, and though it's not too close to Baga or Candolim and Calangute where all the action is, it's perfect if you want to be far from the madding crowd!

My husband and we arrived at the Villa after we had a good look at the misery on Anjuna beach. After we arrived in the Villa we thought that this is paradise! The Villa and the rooms are just beautiful and clean clean clean! The garden invites you to just to one thing chill in the shade and enjoy. The pool was really nice and clean and a very very very good alternative to the quiet dirty beaches in Goa. But it was not just the building and the facilities it was also the staff which made our stay so wonderful! They are all very helpful, really nice and funny. They organized us a scooter we rented and helped us with sightseeing, airport taxi and so on. Another nice gimmick is that there is a continental breakfast included and a nice restaurant/ bar in the villa.

We wanted to stay one night but at last we stayed 5, thats how good it is! And honestly, we had a look at many places before we found the Villa, and there is no better place in Anjuna. So enjoy your stay!

My wife and I spent a week at Granpa's Inn in mid-April. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was delightful, a lush and balmy garden with huge trees, creepers and plants on the edge of the village of Anjuna. The staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodation clean and comfortable, and the well-maintained pool a refreshing haven after the heat of the day. I heartily recommend Granpa's Inn for anyone looking for a bit of tropical bliss.

Room Tip: The poolside rooms are quiet, only a few steps from the pool, and allow you to appreciate the beauty...

I stayed here with my wife and toddler in march for 2 weeks. The owners are friendly and approachable. The Staff are friendly and well trained. The pool is fantastic. we stayed in one of the rooms by the pool and they have a little courtyard at the back which is very handy for kids to play safely. The rooms themselves are spotless and are cleaned daily. The outside shower is also a nice surprise. All in all we have no complaints about this hotel. The restaurant (Kenny s) has great food and kenny himself is an executive chef who has worked in canada for years, so his kitchen is top notch. To sum it up, its a family run hotel run very efficiently and granpa himself is a gem!

Room Tip: Ask for the new bigger rooms by the pool.
