“Ignore the family that runs the place and you should be good to go”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

Had one of the little cottages at this place for about 10 days, and really enjoyed most of the time we stayed there. The cottage itself was basic and clean enough, but the beds were absolutely brutal! I've travelled extensively throughout India as a backpacker, and these were easily amongst the hardest beds I have ever "not slept" on! Like sleeping on plywood. Take one of those blow up mats if you plan to stay here for more than a few days. Having said that, the room was very quiet, and had a nice little porch to enjoy in the front. The shower had hot water very rarely, but we managed to survive...

The restaurant is very nicely located by the beach, and the service is good and the food is fine. Nothing from the menu that I ate there blew me away, but what I did have was fine, and I never got sick...

WIFI is available at the restaurant, but is often too weak to be of much use...

The big issue we had was with the family running the place. The mother was pretty nasty to us at one point, and I witnessed the father being nasty to another customer. In the 10 days we were there the mother, father, son, and daughter only smiled once between them...when we paid our bill! There is a simple way around this though...don't engage them unless you absolutely have to! This worked well enough for us, although somewhat unfortunate to have to even go this route. My travelling friend spoke Hindi, and was chatting with many of the Nepalese employees there, and they also told him that the family was pretty nasty...

All that being said, the price of Rs 600 was very fair, and we actually enjoyed most of our stay there. I could stay there again, and knowing what I now know about some of the issues there I think I could have an even better time if I returned!

SUNSET GUEST HOUSE.Is an oasis amidst a myriad of bars+restaurants catering for the rave/hip/carefree traveller .Located near, but far enough not to be overrun by the flea market mob(wed). This family run establishment has 6/7 apartments,(not huts),ensuite.Away from the beach madness.so you can walk to "Curlies/Shorebar/Om,rave all night, then retire to the calm of Sunset. The fish restaurant has a tandoori oven with all seafood purchased daily by the owner Paul De Souza.Rooms cost between 6000/2000rs depending on time of season.Free wi/fi.Anthony de souza will rent scooters making sunset a perfect hub for those wishing to use Anjuna beach for their Goan adventures. Ideal for the smart young and discerning old alike.

Room Tip: this place is popular with only 6/7 rooms especially during dec/jan.so book in advance,
