“A feeling of stepping back to the time of the Raj”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

This Hotel minded us of a traditional old colonial property with several separate buildings adding to the overall sense of splendour. Check in was quick and efficient and the hotel owner could not have been more helpful. Our room was of a good size and was very clean with a large comfy bed. The bathroom was clean and functional however the shower curtain could have done with either a bit of a bleach or completely replacing. The hotel grounds were beautiful and the scenery of the buildings and surrounding trees lit up at night was extremely pleasing on the eye. The restaurant staff were very friendly and the food was very tasty and very reasonably priced and they had a fully stocked bar! We were only here for 2 nights so spent our time lounging round the pool which was a good size and very clean.

The WiFi is only available if you sit outside reception which whilst not exactly a hardship in this day and age and in a lovely property like is not really acceptable. If not in the rooms then at the very least it should be available at the pool and restaurant. We rely on WiFi not only for keeping in touch with our friends and family but also for making onward travel arrangements so having to leave the room or the pool in order to connect was a bit of a pain.

We had no breakfast included in the room rate which we thought made the overall cost for our stay a little higher than it should be however the breakfast at the restaurant was good value and delicious.

This place was a bit away from the resorts, which means hoping in taxis a lot (unless you think like other traveler's that Indian Roads are so much safer than back home, I should definitely hire a scooter without a helmet, weird) but it's worth it as it's so clean and quiet with a beautiful pool. Thomas on reception couldn't have been more helpful sorting a doctor for me very quickly the first day, when Indian belly got me (from before I arrived in Goa I should add) and directing us to some nice things to see. The rooms were nice but the pool was the cake icing really. If we went back to Goa we'd probably spend some nights on a beach and some nights here.

Hacienda de Goa Resort is not one of those immense 5* properties but there's something special about it. I can't really point it, it just has a really nice feel to it.
The property is very well kept; rooms are pretty spacious and all have a balcony (good place to have a smoke if you happen to be a smoker). The best thing is that the are is quiet so one can get some sleep.
The service is good.
Talking to Mr and Mrs Thomas is always a pleasure, they know the area and can help you with almost anything.
Will stay there again.

My sister & I stayed here for a few days of relaxation on our recent trip to India. The staff were all friendly& very accommodating. Thomas took great care of us. Lovely grounds, yummy breakfasts and a beautiful pool. Quiet, peaceful respite. Just a short taxi ride from the Vagator beach.

I stayed here with a group of friends who rode down from Chennai on our superbikes. Thomas & Susan, the owners run a spotlessly clean resort. The service and attention to detail is commendable. Security for our bikes was also great.

Room Tip: Classic Super Deluxe Room is the best value for money
