“wow, what a find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

It's always great to make a great find on a spur of the moment day trip. We headed north from Logan Martin Lake into the "mountains" of northeast Alabama in search of waterfalls. We happened into to Mentone about 1 PM on a Tuesday. We were more than a little concerned about finding a suitable lunch. Not to worry - we found a great lunch! Four of us. Many great choices. Several gluten free choices. The fantastic black and blue burger was offered on gluten free bread - I had that. Mar had a grilled cheese sandwich, friends split a giant black and blue burger. I had a large salad - should have had a small. We also took away 2 slices of peanut butter pie - which was also gluten free. We enjoyed the leisurely pace. They warn you that the black and blue burger takes a little longer - we didn't care -we weren't on a schedule. BTW - the waterfalls are great!

We drove up for a craft fair and caught this place open by chance. The food was excellent. They had a good variety and something we all liked.

“Amusing, good time”

I enjoyed this café. It was small and quaint. The food was very good, they make it fresh so it takes a little longer than normal to get it to the table. Servers were very attentive and gracious. The gentleman singing in the café interacted with the customers, was funny and added to the atmosphere.

“A Magical Place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Stopped for an impromptu lunch and WOW! Food is great and the people even better. Such fantastic food and attention given. Moon: THANK YOU, Melissa and all your staff for a perfect lunch. We will be back again and this time for dinner! The music was fun, the atmosphere delightful - Magical indeed!
We were on a GeoCaching trip through NE Alabama. Former family had lived in tow, so we found their old house, needed lunch and we found a Geocache in the parking lot too!
Go for lunch, discover Mentone and come back for dinner!

“Good for a song and dance - and dinner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

Enter through the back door and find yourself in the general store with plenty of local arts and crafts. Try to go on the weekend and sing along with the guitar man. As soon as we opened the door, we heard a rendition of Cotton-Eyed Joe followed by many favorites of days gone by. This is an old house converted into a restaurant and the seating just keeps going and going. The front porch is enclosed and has bus seats to make up the booth. Start with an appetizer or something light like a cup of vegetable-beef soup, a side salad, or an order of kettle chips and dip. Something not to be missed is the tomato pie and the sweet potato biscuits. For something to share, get the mixed green salad and a 12" pizza.
