“We had a nice time”

The KOA offers cabins on all levels. We stayed at one of the middle range cabins. It was perfect for us. It was across from the pool and very convenient to come and go. They offered Karoke on Saturday night which was fun. The kids loved it. We drove to Fort Morgan to get the ferry to dauphin island. It's just in a great location. People were great. We had a problem in our cabin and they were RIGHT there to fix it.

Maybe the weather influenced the poor rating. We tent camped here for 2 nights and it rained 85% of the time so couldnt really do much. The sites are super close to each other, very muddy in the rainfall. Bathrooms were just ok, pool was nice, beach was not great (water was murky due to weather). On the plus side, good homemade pizza close by and wi fi did work for us since tent sites are very near main building.

We stayed in a deluxe kabin for seven nights and it was amazing. The site is beautiful. We have a three year old son, and had planned to spend several days in Pensacola, but Pensacola was so busy and the campground was so nice we just hung around the pool and the bay for every day except one, and went to Orange Beach for one day. With our own kitchen and grill, we cooked special lunches and dinners for the family every day—and saved tons of money not eating out. Even though it feels pleasantly away from it all, we were really close to a grocery store for everything we forgot. The staff was great, and renting a whole cabin for the price of a hotel room was priceless. Our dogs loved the play yard, our son loved the pool, and mom and dad loved the beach. Renting a golf cart was fun, and they have karaoke on Saturdays and horseshoes. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that the internet didn’t really work unless you were right by the main office. I know that’s kind of a lame reason to knock off the star, but we really needed the internet for work, and had counted on having it. Other than that, a GREAT place for a family vacation.

This is a beautiful property with a great waterfront but it is not without it's drawbacks. It is a ways to a decent restaurant for one and Chubby's Pizza is just outside the gate but it takes at least an hour to get food there because they are simply overwhelmed. The bigger problem is that the property is overdeveloped. Dollars won the day over nice sites, well spaced. It's one thing to have the separation a hard sided trailer or motorhome provide and altogether something else to be tent camping as we were. Our neighbor, who arrived at about 9:30 pm, had to set up about 4-5' away from our tent. Once set up, they argued till midnight. We weren't real quiet when we left at 6:00 am the next morning. Turnabout is fair play. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the restrooms were clean. If you happen to get a little gas from Chubby's Pizza, everyone's going to know.

Room Tip: Don't plan on tent camping here if you expect to get any sleep.

My family went here for spring break. We stayed for 6 nights in a tent. When we pulled into our campsite we were amazed of how small it was. There were tents on both sides of us and when we put up ours, they were about a foot from touching! The lots were so small. This only effected us for the first two nights because then they left and for the rest of the week we had both lots on both sides of us open. So keep this in mind if you go during a busy period. They also have small cabins which seemed decent and some right on the water. They have a little store with snacks and some of the basics. They also have fire wood which is a little expensive. We instead bought ours at lowes and was cheaper. Being on the water is cool and they have a nice dock. I caught a few fish there. The pool and hot tub was nice enough. The bathrooms were some of the cleanest I've seen at a campground. You can tell that the people really try to make it a nice place but the small campsites are the biggest drawback. Another downside is there is nothing close to do. Everything seems like at least 1hr away some 2.

When we first arrived we found out that our reservation had an error due to a problem with the online system. The staff immediately upgraded our primitive cabin that didn't have enough room for all four of us to a fully stocked cottage for the same price. They were quick and happy to help the entire week. As soon as we got there we went kayaking in the bay and saw five dolphins. The campground is quiet, clean, and we met many pleasant people. We had a wonderful experience!

This was our first of many KOAs that we stayed at during our honeymoon roadtrip. We paid the extra money for a waterside tent site, and were super excited when we showed up and it was RIGHT on the water! We had a fire next to the bay, cooked hot dogs, waded in the warm water, and couldn't believe how nice it was. Then the sunset, and suddenly our location was not as ideal as we thought. First of all - there is no curfew for the dock, which was directly next to our tent. We didn't realize that not only would people be fishing at the dock long after our bedtime, but so would their friends and kids. People parked their cars directly next to our tent, and the rest of the KOA would drive their golf carts down to smoke cigarettes, walk their dogs, or talk on the phone at all hours next to the water. Sleep was non existent. If you decided to camp in a waterfront tent site here, make sure you see the map first, and choose the tent site that is farthest away from the dock - you'll thank me.

We avoided the nearby bathrooms filled with bugs, and instead made the trek up to the main house because those bathrooms were cleaner. The staff was friendly and personable, and the pool was comfortable, but it wasn't our favorite KOA on our trip.
