I stayed at this Marriott in June 2013 while I was in the area on business. The hotel was perfectly adequate, but the rooms felt more like a Courtyard than a Marriott. There are some good things about this place: The fitness room was well equipped, and probably about the right size for a place this size. Parking was free. The concierge lounge had a good hot breakfast, and they dropped off a newspaper at my door each morning. The location is convenient to Redstone and to the airport.

The lobby was being renovated. One night we ate in the sports bar (Otters?) and it was very run down, junky, and way past its prime. The waiter, who was very helpful, told us that it was also being renovated as part of the lobby renovation, so hopefully they will build something nicer. The concierge lounge was a bit small, and when I went up in the late afternoon, I found that only water and one type of soft drink was available. We needed a shuttle to and from the airport, but their shuttle was not working so they had us take a taxi; getting that straightened out did not go too smoothly, but in the end it all worked out.

Stayed here as part of a sports tournament group. The check-in process was a little less than ideal, primarily b/c of their renovations. We experienced delays because it appeared that the management was not ready for the crush of a big crowd. They do adhere to their customer service policies however, and any problems we had with the room or related service, the management took care of promptly. Looks like they are going through some growing pains, but all in all, this place was pretty good. Pool was great for the kids, it is next door to NASA Space Center, and the bartender was friendly and accommodating.

This is definitely an older property with definite renovations in progress. I wasn't sure if the room I was in was upgraded or not - I didn't ask.

The decor was - how shall I say - "mixed" - old school and modern. The bed was comfortable, but was facing the balcony, which was an incredible view of NASA Space Center! The strange part was there was a lot of empty space with seemingly no purpose, and the TV was facing a blank wall, which you'd have to physically turn to face you on the bed, or roll over the desk chair, either way - it was awkward. The walls look like they had the "cheap" apartment paint, some patch work with pastel salmon, covered up with a non-matching beige, and a light shade of light brown - none of it seemed to match.

The bathroom was also strangely empty with the commode about 6" away from the wall and about 2 feet from the shower tub and nothing inbetween with PINK square tiles on the wall.

It is a very quiet place, which as a business traveler I sincerely appreciated. EVERY staff person had the "southern hospitality", which I also sincerely appreciated. The food at the restaurant was down home, good cookin' with lots of flavor and GREAT service!

Would I stay here again - not sure. If you're looking for an upscale place, this is NOT it! If you're looking for a "nice", affordable, close to NASA Space Center, and decently comfortable - I'd say, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a fully renovated room. One facing the NASA Space Center and one with a balcony would be a BONUS! GREAT Views!!!

The rooms in this hotel need major renovation, particularly the bathrooms! They have been slightly updated - carpet & flat screen TV, but it looks as good as lipstick on a pig. They did the absolute minimum & it shows. The shower tile is 1970's pink. Somehow the room just feels old & a little dirty.

The other problem is the Starbucks cart doesn't open until 7 am!!

The Huntsville Westin is SO much nicer & in a much better area. Unless you need to be next door to the space center, I would highly suggest staying elsewhere.

An older hotel with all the things you could possibly ask for, all in one place! They are currently in the process of remodeling the lobby, but the noise level is nil in the rest of the hotel. Even with the construction going on, the lobby was fairly quiet. Close to the Interstate and right next door to the US Space and Rocket Center, which I must say is VERY interesting! Looking for food?!? There is a restaurant on site, as well as a bar. The food in the restaurant is excellent, especially breakfast. If you go away hungry, it's your own fault. The indoor/outdoor pool is GREAT ( and heated ). Plenty of parking and the Staff there is VERY friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet, the beds are very comfortable, everything you need is there.

Room Tip: I looked at some of the travel sites, like Hotel.com, but I got a better rate by calling the hotel directly. The travel sites wanted $109 a night but the hotel had a rate of $159 a night, that included breakfast and 2 tickets to the Space and Rocket Center next door.
