It is a beautiful State Park. My friends and I spent the weekend in the primative camping section. Unfortunately we chose the coldest weekend that we had had so far to tent camp (not our brightest moment) but that was not a reflection on the park. Beautiful views! Will be back to hike next time (when it's warmer!!!). I was far to cold and sat by the fire, but a couple of my friends hiked. They enjoyed it.

What a wonderful State Park! we loved the hiking. We stayed in a cabin and love that also. We can not think of any negative things to say about the area. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Thanks

This park is very convenient to downtown Huntsville, the rocket center and most everything else you'd want to do in Huntsville. Our only complaint was the bath houses. They were dirty - even after the crews made their half-hearted effort to clean them. Worse, the fixtures were in uniform disrepair. Simple repairs involving a pair of pliars and teflon tape were obviously not being tended to. It's unfortunate that the management of the park isn't holding the employees accountable for such routine maintenance. It's otherwise a very nice place to camp in the area. Slovenly management.

The trails are nice, but confusing to find and navigate. I'd hike here again if I found a better map.

I'm sure to truly enjoy this park you need to hit the trails and possibly spend a night in one of the cabins on the edge of the mountain. If you're just here for the day there are plenty of places to picnic, play and enjoy a majestic view of the valley below. Compared to State Parks in Tennessee and Kentucky this one is pretty average. However, if you are in the Huntsville area it's worth the trip up the mountain.
