Not sure why the other reviewer only gave VH three stars. That's an "average" rating, and I think VH definitely surpasses that designation. The selection is huge, and one great thing about VH is that they take consignment LPs as well. Consigners set their own prices, and because of that, I got Suicide's second record, still in the shrink, for $5, and an original Patti Smith Horses (white letters), also in the shrink, for $8. Because the selection is so huge, it isn't as well curated as it could be…but who cares? If you're willing to dig, you can pull some absolutely stellar finds. I'm not into 12" singles, but there's a big area in the back with scads of 12"s, most cheap, that looks like it could be a DJ's wet dream. Aside from that, the staff is super friendly and books live shows in a town that is virtually devoid of live music. I'm a transplant from Chicago, where we have myriad record stores, some literally world famous, and I feel Vertical House is definitely above average. If you're coming through and are into vinyl, check it out…but make sure you have adequate time to really peruse the stacks.
