We had the pulled pork which was tender, moist, smoky well picked with no fat remnants. We tried the sweet potato casserole, the banana pudding and the black eyed peas with tomatoes as our sides. The sweet potatoes were very sweet with a nice cinnamon and nutmeg flavor. They were topped with some sort of crunchy breakfast cereal flakes and some toasted pecans. The texture was somewhat eggy and I suspect they used a good bit of egg in the recipe. Overall the sweet potatoes were were good. The black eyed peas had okra in addition to the tomatoes. They were more like a black eyed pea gumbo than simply black eyed peas. Good overall. The banana pudding was strange. It appeared that the bananas had been pureed and added to the pudding. The pudding seemed to be extra oily as if made with either heavy cream or added butter. There was an odd spice flavor that I couldn't place and that didn't belong in banana pudding and the vanilla wafers were soggy. I'll pass on the banana pudding in the future. The plate came with cornbread and your choice of a drink. The cornbread was not your typical southern cornbread. I found it more suitable as a dessert than a bread due to the egg and sugar content. It was baked in a loaf pan and the slices were then heated on the grill before serving. Moe's offers a singe sauce that was just average. They keep the sauce bottles in a crock pot filled with water to keep the sauce warm. I see no advantage to that so why not just have the sauce on the table at room temperature as most places do. I was surprised the place was not more crowded than it was for lunch on a Tuesday. There were plenty of seats available and rarely a line to order. The place was clean and service was reasonably quick. Pork plates with 2 sides and a drink are $10. Sandwich plates are $9 with 2 sides and a drink. I did not see an option to purchase just a sandwich or just sides. They do not serve french fries- shame on them! Overall I give them a very good rating but with a few other places just as good and much cheaper the price knocks them down to just good.
