“Most Enjoyable BBQ in Town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2011

I haven't ever written a review for home town stuff. Seemed rather pointless but after looking at the restaurant list for Huntsville, its time that I start offering up my opinion. Moe's is by far the most authentic BBQ choice on the East side of town. It may not have a well known championship name, but I can assure the reader that the meat is smoked on premise, with care.

The items I like best are the smoked chicken wings (which are better than most all of the Wing joints in town). I also enjoy the catfish sandwhich and catfish platter. The smoked turkey sandwhich is a nice lighter meal. All of the smoked items have a nice smoke ring. The sauce is provided on the side and you can add what you want. The sauce is slightly spicy but not a strong vinagar taste. The special of the day sides are the better bet and usually sell out on busy days. Often the meat sells out on busy days also if you come in late or at an odd hour. The coleslaw is very different than most and may not be for everyone.

So if you want some smoked BBQ and not that dryed up pork you find at the "well known" name places in town, stop by Moe's.

“Average barbeque, excellent sides”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2011

Four of us had lunch on Saturday and the restaurant was not too busy.. You order at the counter and your food comes to you. Two of us ordered a pork plate, one a turkey sandwich and one the smoked wings. The wing-man had been here before and we should have followed his lead. They smelled great and he finished the lot. My pork, I know this is gonna sound strange, was too moist. I like some crispy outside pieces and a little texture to my barbeque - this had none of that, and the sauce was a little bland. The sides were all excellent. We tried cole slaw, potato salad, beans and 2 specials: totato-cucumber salad and mac and cheese. The totato-cucumber was flavored with strips of fresh tarragon and vinegar and I loved it. I also though the grilled cornbread was delicious. Atmosphere and decor are minimal, but the emphasis should be on the food here, anyway. And, I did not have any service issues although I got a strange look when I tipped 10% for someone to carry food to the table and clean it after I left. The price for 4 meals and drinks was around $40.

“Just not very enjoyable”

Food was just okay with employees who had better things to do than serve customers. Drive on to the next BBQ joint, it will be better.
