“NASA, Marshall Space Flight Center”
Reviewed April 6, 2007

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is home to Space Camp, Aviation Challenge and NASA's Official Visitor Information Center for Marshall Space Flight Center. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is recognized as one of the most comprehensive U.S. manned space flight hardware museums in the world; including Spacedome Theater, Rocket Park, Shuttle Park and NASA's Educator Resourse Center. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is located in Huntsville, Alabama, a few hours south of Nashville, Tennessee, and a few hours west of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
There were many displays and a few rides for the kids. They also have Space Camp for the kids. We also saw an IMAX movie. The rockets are still fascinating, and the artifacts are too. You might even meet an astronaut. Don’t forget the souvenirs!!! Plan on spending the whole day. You won't be disappointed. For the price, you get what you pay for. Overall we had an enjoyable visit.

“Terrible, a theme park for misbehaved school groups”
Reviewed January 29, 2007

This was a terrible experience. After visiting Kennedy Space Center and Johnson Space Center, it is shocking to see the state of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Rides and simulators for children take priority over authentic historic artifacts like the Apollo 16 spacecraft, the V-2 rocket or even the massive (and recently restored) Saturn V rocket, which lays at the end of the garden as if it wasn't (probably) one of the most important displays. Signs and explanations for artifacts and rockets were missing, artifacts were piled together to make space for a climbing wall for children, for example. What does a climbing wall have to do with space???

There were groups of badly behaved and non-supervised school children everywhere who seemed to think the place was a theme park where they could run and yell at their pleasure. Their teachers were not better, occupying entire corridors with their pupils seating on the floor and not letting walk by other visitors.

The site is historically important because of Werner Von Braun and his rockets. The display on Von Braun was small and the films were too long and there was no place to sit down and enjoy the documentaries. Too many screens or speakers were playing too many documentaries at the same time. Meanwhile, occupying a huge room which nobody bothered to stop in, there was an incredibly tacky film of no relevance with a 'motivational' message and an insufferable song .

I, for one, will never go back, whereas I have been twice to the KSC and would not discard going back to JSC (taking the VIP tour , adults-only).

“Top notch”
Reviewed October 30, 2006

This was my third visit. I went a couple times back in the mid 80s. It is different, but maybe not a whole lot better. The monkey passed away since I was last there.

The rockets are still fascinating, and the artifacts are too.

Plan on spending the whole day. You won't be disappointed.
