“Great first camping trip”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

This was our first trip in our camper. The park was much more than I expected it to be. It had all of the hookups needed except cable. We had the local channels and were completely fine with that though. The staff was very kind. No one got in without being seen and I felt safe. The beach in right up the road. We chose a site that was in the corner along Gator Road and enjoyed it. There was a couple who could be loud at times, but it was still much better than a condo right above you! Overall, we had a great anniversary trip!

Room Tip: We stayed about 5 minutes from the main gate and not on the main road. It was very quiet, but we we...

Loved our week of pop-up camping. All the sites are easy to get into with full hook-up. All facilities are modern and clean. We were on 275 which was by the bathhouse and had a view of the lake. Wi-Fi is a nice touch.

The only negatives was the hurricanes have reduced the number of large trees, which means you are more exposed to wind and sun. But this is minor and does not take too much away from the great all round experience the Park offers. With beaches close by, nature trails, closeness to town, this State park has much to offer everyone.

Room Tip: Odd sites 231-279, have nice lake views.

Let me start out by saying that I am not a camper. It took a lot for me to drag myself on this family vacation. That said...It was one of my best trips. I thoroughly enjoyed the park. The bath houses were clean and the pool area was super nice. We rode bikes and just enjoyed the fresh air. The beach is a short bike ride away. The campground itself is very well run and kept very clean! My 7 year old enjoyed the Nature Exhibit.

This state park far exceeded our expectations. It is in a great location, close to the Gulf coast Islands National Seashore. There is plenty to do: bird watching, beach combing (fabulous beaches), hiking, bike riding. The park has every amenity, including swimming pool, tennis courts, full hook ups at every camp site, attentive camp personnel. Love this place!

Our family of 4 adults and 5 children stayed in these 3 bedroom, 3 bath cottages on the Lake for three nights the week before Easter. These cottages are beautiful, with lots of open floor space to lay our blow-up mattresses and sleeping bags and land for the kids to play. The kids even went swimming right in the back yard, and there are a number of great piers for fishing. The cottage street is very quite and great for the kids to ride bikes, and there are bike lanes on the sides of all of the streets, with the back country paved bike / walking trails starting only about a mile down the road. And did I mention that we were only two miles from the beach, with free parking as cabin residents. Overall a great place and great stay.

My parents & in laws stayed there while we camped. Very clean & in good shape. They have an excellent playground right there & a fishing pier for the lake. The only thing we didn't like was the 4:00 check in. Wished it was earlier.

We went down and stayed in the new lake side chalets. We all work at a state park so we decided to take a break. It had a screen in porch on both sides. We where in the lake side chalet with a play ground just about 20yds up the parking lot.Very nice and clean. The rooms where beautiful someone had really taken the time to clean them.So dust no cobwebs. And we are the picky type of women, but the place was great. In the morning it's so quite you can't believe when you look across and see such a busy place. But I don't know if it was the light breeze from the lake are the distance but it was so peaceful. Now we when and found out that it was Hang Out Weekend. We could watch the light and hear some music and the light show from one of the porches. But it was not like it was right up close and was far enough away that you didn't hear all the people rushing around. The next morning I got up early and when out on the deck and there was a dock just below us.And there was a baby gator.Just chilling swimming in front of us for pictures. But you not allowed to feed them. And one of the others did Go-cashing,you can drive to the beach about 5mile and never get in heavy traffic. If you go down get number 13.It's at the end of the road and so made for relaxing.Their is a BBQ pit and picnic table under the chalet and the cabins. And for the price it's the cheapest for a great family place in town. And they have a pool and pier. And if your staying there it's free just take your window sticker they give you.The chalets are the way to go because the cabins are small. But we all wanted our own rooms and had family friends over It was well worth the trip and the money. For some time to relaxes. Now they have cabins that are cheaper but their are a little to close for comfort for me.These has lots of space and is a great place for a family to stay. The only thing I didn't like is the park is so spaced out.But you can drive down the rode and eat at any type of food you want are cook it their. The kitchen and all the area in the chalet was very clean and well taken care of.So go and have a great time...It is worth every penny...

Room Tip: Chalet number 13 is the best.At the end and is quiet and has private dock.Close to a GO cashing spot...
